The purpose of this study was to develop slacks patterns for obese-schoolgirls aged 10~12 by using a 3D virtual garment simulation system. The criteria for subjects in this study were girls who had a BMI of over $25kg/m^2$. A total of 155 schoolgirls who met these criteria were enrolled. The results were as follows: First, by using 3D virtual garment simulation, a new slacks pattern considerate of obese-schoolgirls was developed. The basic numerical formulae were as follows: Front and back hip girth of H/4-0.5+1 and H/4+0.5+1.5, front waist girth of W/4+1+0.5, back waist girth of W/4+2+0.5, front crotch extension of H/16-0.5, back crotch extension of H/8-0.5, front dart amount of 1, and back dart amount of 2. Second, according to the new slacks pattern appearance evaluation, the new slacks pattern scored more highly than the existing pattern for silhouette and ease amount, confirming that the new slacks pattern is appropriate for obese-schoolgirls. Additionally, the new slacks pattern was evaluated allowing for the proper space length of the waist, abdomen and hips. This study is expected to serve as important basic data for ensuing studies that may utilize a 3D virtual garment simulation system with 2D patterns and for future 3D pattern production program development.
This paper investigated optimum process conditions of coating yarn for awning fabric. For this purpose, the simulation for processability and yarn quality using SPSS statistics package was carried out, and PP/TPO and PET/PVC coating yarns specimens were made with variation of extruder temperature and feed speed of core yarn on the yarn coating machine for examining simulation result. It was revealed that optimum coating conditions of PP/TPO 1000d coating yarn were extruder temperature $150^{\circ}C$, and core yarn feed speed 400~500m/min. Mechanical property and thermal shrinkage of PP/TPO coating yarn made at this conditions were best and core evenness rates of these coating yarns by yarn compression tester were also superior, which was certified by SEM photograph. In addition, these experimental results were coincided with simulation results. It was found that, in PET/PVC coating yarn, yarn physical properties between 1500d and 1200d coated yarns were not shown any difference, and core evenness rates of these coating yarns were superior. It revealed and concluded that these simulated coating conditions are applicable to production field.
This study was conducted to find out the relationship between skin temperature and clothing temperature in body parts. Four different kinds of fabrics were used in this experiment. These fabrics were a (Ny/Spun, 81.8/18.2%), b (Wool/Poly/span, 50/45/5%), (Wool/Ny/Span70/25/5) and d (Wool/Poly/Span 45/45/10%). The subjects skated at indoor ice rink where the length was 111.12 m, the temperature was $11{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and the humidity was $70{\pm}10%$. The four an male professional skaters speed was $17{\pm}1$ seclm/lap. Physiological parameters were skin temperature at 4 body points (chest, upper arm, thigh, leg) and clothing temperature at chest was measured every 15 second. Experiment protocol was as follows: resting before skating (5 min.), skating (5 min.), and resting after skating (10 min.). The results were as follows; The mean skin temperature by fabrics shows b > a > d > c. The mean skin temperature began to decline little by little as soon as the subjects entered the indoor ice rink. After they rested for five minutes, they started skating and the mean skin temperature declined widely. After skating, the mean skin temperature increased step by step. It maintained the similar temperature. The value of skin temperature at body points shows Leg > Chest > Upper arm > Thigh. Because of the characteristics of skating uniforms, the skin temperature of the leg is the highest. The skating uniform was designed to have a protective portion in the leg. The chest produces the highest temperature in the body. The comparison of difference values in skin temperature show Thigh > Upper arm > Chest > Leg. While skating in a cold atmosphere, the largest difference value is clothing temperature. The clothing temperature is lower than the skin temperature during skating. The difference value of clothing temperature is larger than the skin temperature of the chest.
In this study, the application of a medical compression sleeve of Moisture Responded Transformable(MRT) fibers to the treatment of lymphedema after surgery in breast cancer patients was investigated. MRT fibers were manufactured with PET and Nylon6 bi-component cross-section yarns, and compression sleeves of sleeves 1, 2, 3, and 4 were knitted in order of size, and then the physical properties and clinical tests were evaluated. As a result, the pressure of compression sleeve in wrinkle was the lowest in sleeve 1 with 3.81 kPa, and the highest in sleeve 4 with 5.22 kPa. Elastic recovery rate is that all parts except the top of the sleeve 1 exhibited 100%. The air permeability was good at 12.1 ~ 16.1 cm3/cm2/sec, and peeling was also comparatively excellent as grade 3. In addition, the weight of the compression sleeves 1, 2, and 3 decreased as 18.3 ~ 23.0 g/m2 depend on size, while the compared sample was heavier with 17.39 ~ 32.61 g/m2. In lymphoscintigraphy test, it was confirmed that the function of remaining lymph node was good in all patients. Although there were no differences between samples in skin irritation and tightness in wearing comfort, the manufactured sleeves showed better fit, lightness, fashion and breathability than the comparable sleeves.
A series of noble poly(amide-imide)s and copoly(amide-imide)s bearing 1,2-bis(4-phenoxy)benzene units were synthesized by the direct polycondensation of 1,2-bis(4-trimellitimidophenoxy)benzene[1,2-PTPB] with a combination of commercially available aromatic diamines and diacids such as m-phenylene diamine, p-phenylene diamine(PPD), isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid(TA) in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as a condensing agent in the presence of dehydrating agent ($CaCl_2$). The resulting polymers had inherent viscosities in the range of 0.37~0.78 dL/g and most of them were soluble m common organic solvents including NMP, dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulfoxide, dimethylformamide, and m-cresol. Wide-angle X-ray diffractograms revealed that the copoly(amide-imide) derived from PPD with mixed acids of 1,2-BTPB and TA, showed crystalline nature, whereas all of the other polymers were found to be amorphous. The glass transition temperatures of the polymers occurred over the temperature range of $270{\sim}323^{\circ}C$ in their differential scanning calorimetry curves and their 10% weight loss temperature, determined by thermogravimetric analysis in air and nitrogen atmosphere, were in the range $465{\sim}535^{\circ}C$, $500{\sim}550^{\circ}C$, respectively, indicating their good thermal stability.
Adiponectin is an adipocyte-derived protein that has a regulatory role in energy homeostasis and influences insulin sensitivity. Its effects on glucose utilization and lipid metabolism are mediated by AdipoR1 and AdipoR2. How insulin affects adiponectin gene expression and secretion is still controversial. This study was conducted to determine the expression of adiponectin, AdipRs and $PPAR-\gamma$ during the differentiation of bovine preadipocytes and the effect of insulin on expression of these genes in bovine adipocytes. The bovine preadipocytes started to accumulate lipids three days after differentiation was induced, with increased expression of adiponectin, AdipoR2 and $PPAR-\gamma$ mRNAs. Insulin decreased the expression of adiponectin mRNA in a dose- and time-dependent fashion, and the inhibition was detectable at insulin concentrations as low as 10 nM and as early as 2 h after addition of 100 nM insulin. Insulin also inhibited the expression of AdipoR2 mRNA at concentrations from 1 to 1,000 nM or 24 h after addition of 100 nM insulin, but did not affect the expression of AdipoR1 in bovine adipocytes. Inhibition of PI3K with LY294002 reversed the inhibition of adiponectin and AdipoR2 mRNA expression by insulin. These results suggest that insulin suppresses the expression of adiponectin and AdipoR2 at least partially via the PI3K signal pathway.
The purpose of the current study is to investigate the cognition-enhancing effects of Ixeris dentata (Thunb) Nakai in scopolamine-induced amnesic mice. Scopolamine (2 mg/kg, i.p.) was used to induce amnesia in mice. The cognitive-enhancing activity of the IDE (10, 20 and $40{\mu}g/mL$) was studied by passive avoidance response, elevated plus maze and Y-maze behavioral paradigm in normal and scopolamine-induced amnesic mice. Scopolamine-induced cognitive deficits were significantly reversed by IDE (P < 0.001 at 20 mg/kg) in a dose-dependent fashion in all the behavioral paradigms tested. IDE possesses cognitive-enhancing properties in amnesic mice due to its potent antioxidant action.
Abstract. An area of particularly rapid technological growth in the last 15 years has been medical imaging (conventional X-ray, ultrasound, X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As the number and complexity of imaging studies rises, it becomes ever more important to distribute these images and the associated diagnoses in a timely and cost-effective fashion. The purpose of this paper is to describe the requirements for a future digital radiology system which will efficiently handle the large volume of images that generated, add new functionality to improve productivity of physicians, technologists, and other health care providers, and provide enough flexibility to allow the system to grow as medical image technology grows.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) involves neuronal degeneration with impaired cholinergic transmission, particularly in areas of the brain associated with learning and memory. Several cholinesterase inhibitors are widely prescribed to ameliorate the cognitive deficits in AD patients. In an attempt to examine if tacrine and donepezil, two well-known cholinesterase inhibitors, exhibit additional pharmacological actions in primary cultured rat cortical cells, we investigated the effects on neuronal injuries induced by glutamate or N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA), $\beta$-amyloid fragment ( $A_{{beta}25-35)}$), and various oxidative insults. Both tacrine and donepezil did not significantly inhibit the excitotoxic neuronal damage induced by glutamate. However, tacrine inhibited the toxicity induced by NMDA in a concentration-dependent fashion. In addition, tacrine significantly inhibited the $A_{{beta}25-35)}$-induced neuronal injury at the concentration of 50 $\mu$M. In contrast, donepezil did not reduce the NMDA- nor $A_{{beta}25-35)}$-induced neuronal injury. Tacrine and donepezil had no effects on oxidative neuronal injuries in cultures nor on lipid peroxidation in vitro. These results suggest that, in addition to its anticholinesterase activity, the neuroprotective effects by tacrine against the NMDA- and $A_{{beta}25-35)$-induced toxicity may be beneficial for the treatment of AD. In contrast, the potent and selective inhibition of central acetylcholinesterase appears to be the major action mechanism of donepezil.
