Odontomas are nonaggressive, hamartomatous developmental malformations composed of mature tooth substances and may be compound or complex depending on the extent of morphodifferentiation or on their resemblance to normal teeth. Among them, complex odontomas are relatively rare tumors. They are usually asymptomatic in nature. Occasionally, these tumors become large, causing bone expansion followed by facial asymmetry. Odontoma eruptions are uncommon, and thus far, very few cases of erupted complex odontomas have been reported in the literature. Here, we report the case of an unusually large, painless, complex odontoma located in the right posterior mandible.

Health insurance has gone far toward solving Korea's health related problems through thirty years. Health Insurance as social security system has a role of national system to secure national health. But there are many problems in health insurance. There is a dispute about many issues, coverage of health security, compulsory appointment of health insurance organization, coverage and level of health insurance benefit, decisionmaking right of health insurance price, examination of health insurance etc. Generally, the opinion for health insurance policy to be leaded by nation sets against the opinion to be leaded by private sector. It is necessary to study politics of law, constitute law and comparative law for rational solving these problems. If desirable setting of health law system can be made, legal system must be set during a long time and be discussed synthetically in different standpoint.

Twelve cases of traumatic diaphragmatic injuries were treated at the Chosun University Hospital from Feb. 1977 to Inn. 1980. The following results were obtained. l. Sex ratio incidence was 5:1, which male patients were predominant. 2. The age distribution at these cases, were ranged from 16 to 43 years of age, and average age was 27 years. 3. Left sided traumatic diaphragmatic injuries were far more common than right, which approximately incidence of 5:1 diaphragmatic injuries were due to blunt trauma [7 cases-traffic accident, 1 case-fall down], and stab wound [4 cases] in etiology. 4. Surgical repairs were done through only thoracotomy incision in blunt trauma cases, and through each thoracic and abdominal incision same time in 2 cases of stab wound. 5. 2 cases {16.7%] of blunt trauma were died before operation at emergency room, and no man died during or following operation. An overall mortality was 16.7%.

Tetralogy of Fallot with subarterial ventricular septal defect is known to be relatively common in the Far East. Among the 140 consecutive patients who underwent repair for tetralogy, 15 [10,7@] had this variant form of tetralogy. Though the degree of pulmonic stenosis seems only mild or moderately severe because of the absence of infundibular septum and relatively large size of pulmonary arteries in this type of tetralogy, it has a special surgical implication that a patch widening of the right ventriculotomy is necessary in every case to avoid the postoperative subpulmonic stenosis. A morphological and surgical features of tetralogy with subarterial VSD are presented.

We have experienced a patient, 16 year-old male, with ventricular septal defect with tricuspid recur- gitation due to blunt chest trauma. He suffered from congestive heart failure after the trauma. Echocardiogram and cardiac catheterization revealed left to right shunt at the ventricular level (muscu- far portion of interventricular septum) and tricuspid regurgitation. At the time of the operation, marked systolic thrill was palpable over the rlght ventricle near the apex and a chorda tendina was seen sharply ruptured just near the medial papillary muscle. We repaired the ventricular septal defect with a Dacron patch and chordal reconstruction with autologous pericardium. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged in good condition.

Hyalinizing trabecular tumor (HTT) of the thyroid gland is a rare neoplasm and only less than 100 cases have been reported so far. It is characterized by hyalinizing stroma with trabecular growth pattern and has an indolent clinical course. Because of its histologic features, it is frequently misdiagnosed as papillary or medullary carcinoma in fine needle aspiration cytologic findings. The tumor is benign or low malignant potential and thyroid lobectomy is recommended for adequate treatment. We recently experienced a case of thyroidal HTT in a 57-year-old man, who presented with a right thyroid nodule that was suspicious of papillary carcinoma in aspiration cytology. We report the unique and rare disease entity with brief literature review.

To report retinal image of in a 6-year-old male castrated poodle dog with a 2-month history of nyctalopia using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Ocular reflexes were present in both eyes and slit lamp examination showed anterior subscapular cataract in the right eye. There were fundus abnormalities in both eyes similar to retinal degeneration. Scotopic electroretinograms (ERGs) revealed significantly subabnormal amplitudes and prolonged implicit time, whereas photopic ERGs were better maintained, although far from normal. OCT of affected dogs revealed generalized retinal thinning much more than a normal age-matched dog. Therefore, OCT scanning is considered to be a useful method for retinal evaluation in dogs with retinal degeneration.

Recently, right rail transit (L.R.T.) systems become influential as a new traffic system in urban area to solve heavy traffic problems. However, there are little research results about the dynamic interaction problems between the vehicle and structural system, even though some studies far those static problems have been carried out. Therefore, first of ail, the dynamic equations of an interaction between vehicle system and surface roughness of the vehicle path are derived before developing the dynamic equations of vehicle-structure-surface roughness system, in this study. As a vehicle model, an automated guide-way transit (A.G.T.) system is adopted. Parametric study shows that the dynamic wheel loads of the vehicle system has a tendency to increase with vehicle speeds and stiffness of suspension system. However, those dynamic wheel loads have tendencies to decrease in according to loads of the vehicle system.

Cavernocypris reddelli n. sp. is a new species of the genus Cavernocypris collected from spring waters of Texas, U.S.A.. This is the sixth species of the genus described so far. It can be distinguished from the other species of the genus by the shape and length of carapace, presence of robust marginal pore canals on right valve, number and length of setae on second antenna, shape of hemipenis, numbers of whorls on the Zenker organ, and differences in other parts of chaetotaxy. The new species was compared with other species and a new taxonomic key for the genus is presented for future studies.

Trends toward an influx of new migrants have been pronounced in East Asia through a development we call the third round of migrant incorporation. At the same time, other features of East Asian societies, such as strong levels of ethnic nationalism, have changed little, posing challenges to multiculturalism. In this introduction to this special issue, we review the latest research trends broadly concerning multiculturalism, migrant groups that have received little attention, racism and xenophobia. We first discuss the state of migrant incorporation in East Asia and the limits of multiculturalism in this region, where various features of the developmental state persist. We then introduce research on voices opposing multiculturalism in East Asia. This introduction highlights what is peculiar―and ordinary―about migrant incorporation and the associated challenges in East Asia.
