노인소비자의 학력수준이 외식구매의사결정 과정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of the Elderly Consumers' Education Level on Eating-Out Decision Making Process)

  • As Korea has approached the aging society, older Koreans have become an important force in restaurant sales today. To succeed with this silver market, it is important for restaurant managers to know who they are and what factors influence older Koreans' eating-out decision making process. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the silver consumers' education level on eating-out decision making process. Data were collected from 178 older consumers above 55 years old and analyzed using the descriptive statistic analysis, MANOVA, and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the elderly consumers' education level significantly influenced the decision making process in determining where to eat out. Significant differences were found in the Problem Recognition Step(Wilks' Lambda=0.817, F=2.991), Information Search Step(Wilks' Lambda=0828, F=2.218), Alternative Evaluation Step II(Wilks' Lambda=0.741, F=3.596), Purchase Decision Step(Wilks' Lambda=0.859, F=2.223), and the Post-Purchase Behavior(Wilks' Lambda=0.885, F=1.780). The higher education level was, the more directly involved in the eating out decision process. The elderly consumers with university education were likely to 'propose to eat out by themselves'(F=9.346), to obtain restaurant information from the 'printed materials'(F=7.452), to go to 'family restaurant'(F=9.057), 'Japanese restaurant'(F=8.7891) and 'fine dining restaurants'(F=3.936), and to directly express their emotion when they had complaints about restaurant service(F=3.206). In conclusion, older Koreans will become more healthy and wealthy which means the dining out activity will be an important part of their life to socialize with people. Therefore, food service operations should consider the elderly consumers' needs and expectation of restaurant services and actively position themselves for this new market segment.

  • Purpose: Healthy and balanced meal is very important for the elderly to maintain the quality of life in community. Senior meal delivery system and congregate meal services have been played an important role to prevent premature institutionalization of the elderly. Food delivery system and lunch service spaces for the Korean elderly were mostly focused and limited on low-income family. The purpose of this study is to analyze community food services environments for the elderly in the UK, the U.S. and Japan for the possibility of applying those service spaces to Korean community. Methods: Lunch service spaces of these three countries were investigated by literature research and visiting of venues. Pilot study of the elderly meal services in Seoul was done for comparing environments and future research. Results: Lunch service spaces in three countries were mostly community based for accessibility and the types of management were various for the elderly to choose the most suitable services for them. The group dining spaces are usually small and designed to give de-institutional atmosphere. Implications: Food service environments for the elderly in Korea should develop more community based model of food delivery and congregate meal service spaces as well as more de-institutionalized design of those spaces.

주부의 취업유무에 따른 주거요구 (Housing Needs According to the Employment State of House Wives)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in housing needs between employed and unemployed wives. A questionnaire survey including 25 questions was done in 90 employed wives and 101 unemployed wives living in Seoul. The findings were as follows: 1) The housing needs for children(educational institute, and community facilities) were high both employed and unemployed wives. The needs for the socialization facilities of household work were low both employed and unemployed wives. The employed wives who have only limited time did not want 24 hours market which is not different from unemployed wives. 2) Unemployed wives wanted larger housing spaces than employed wives did. Unemployed wives put much more value on kitchen size and design. Employed wives considered space for family such as living room and dining room more important than private space.

아동양육시설의 주거형태에 따른 공부행위에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between the Studying Activities of Children and Spaces In the Orphanage)

  • Children of three-to-eighteen-years-old have been brought up in the institution (Orphanage) for several reasons such as family dissolution, divorce and poverty since the Korean Was of 1950. The Cottage, where these children are housed and brought up has dining room, library and bedrooms, plays as a significant social interaction place as well as study. Since the most facilities were built during the 1950-1960s period, most of the cottages are now in the condition of being rebuilt or remodelled. Because living space and studying space are mixed, it will be necessary to provide another studying space separated from living space. And then it will be also necessary to provide a space for play or rest between the two spaces. This study was conducted to obtain some basic data necessary for design of spaces in the orphanages by examining the relations between the studying activities of children and residence types.

  • As the economy has picked up in recent years, so have the changes in the food industry. Due to trends in the family structure, two income households are becoming more common, including the in-crease of the female working population. Leisure activities and time continue to increase and to cause changes in the food industry which makes many kinds of food available to everyone, compared to previous times when people ate simply to live. This trend can be easily seen by considering the year to year increase of expenses for eating out. As life as become more and more complicated and full of variety, the trend towards a consumer oriented food industry has accelerated and is becoming a major element of Korean life. In the past, quantity of food was the most important aspect of the food preparation. Today, the dining experience includes social and cultural meanings which emphasizes customar oriented menus and services. In the restaurant business, successful management must consider the interests of both employees and custmers and must be run efficiently and probide good service.

100세 이상 장수노인의 식생활 경험 (Experiences of Dietary Life on Elderly Over 100 Years Old)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe phenomenological structures of the experiences of dietary life on elderly over 100 years old. Methods: The participants of this research included nine persons over the age of 100 years of age and ten family members who assisted in the dietary regime. Qualitative data were collected by individual in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's method of phenomenology. Results: The results of the research provide four categories and nine theme clusters. The categories included a rustic menu consisting of vegetables, grain-oriented traditional food, sensible dining table in harmony with nature, dietary life and emphasis on how to eat. The nine theme clusters were preference for fresh vegetable, preference of cooked potherb, boiled rice and cereal as main staple food, intake of soybeans, preference of native local foods, non-preference of unhealthy foods, select healthy and control food portion sizes for longevity, objection to light eating, and enjoying a meal. Conclusion: The findings of the study offer insight about the nutrition patterns among the people over 100 years of age.

아동양육시설의 주거형태에 따른 식침 행위에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between the Meal and Sleeping Activities of Children and Spaces in the Orphanage)

  • Children of three-to-eighteen-years-old have been brought up in the institution (Orphanage) for several reasons such as family dissoultion, divorce and poverty since the Korean War of 1950. The Cottage, where these children are housed and brought up has dining room, living room and bedrooms. Psychological aspects of children are being observed distracted and differentiated to some degree according to the sizes of bedroom floor spaces ranging from 2.3 square meters to 9.0 square meters per child. Since the most facilities were built during the 1950-1960s period, most of the cottages are now in the condition of being rebuilt or remodelled. This study was conducted to obtain some basic data necessary for design of spaces in the orphanages by examining the relations between the meal and sleeping activities of children and residence types.

접이식 의자의 구조 연구 (A study on folding chairs' structure)

  • The folding chairs are one of the most necessary furniture for satisfying the moderns' wants which is utilized for limited space rationally. These folding chairs are variously used in interior spaces such as offices, dining areas, and resting areas. They are very easy to move around, so that quiet useful in out door areas, too. Moreover, they play an important role in public spaces as supplementary furniture. The folding chairs have one or several axes, and they are classified according to type of axes like below. 1. Method of divide seating board into 2 and fold, 2. Method of folds seating board and lay on bottom of backboard, 3. Method of fold back board and lay on top of seating board, 4. Method of fold into contact with left and right, 5. Method of gathering legs into one and fold. The folding chairs have to be easy to operate, firm and safe, light for moving around easily, designed for able to change units whenever they have damaged. Change of residential spaces according to the trend towards the nuclear family maximized necessity of limited spaces' use. Therefore, this study provides insights for development of new methods' of folding chairs.

공동주택 거주자 특성에 따른 주생활양식의 하위구성요인 (Sub-components of Housing Life-styles by the Characteristics of Apartment Housing Residents)

  • This study designed to explore the patterns of housing life-styles and the characteristics of apartment housing residents and to examine the relationships between housing life-styles and the characteristics of apartment-housing residents. The data for this study was collected by questionnaires administered to 278 homemakers living in apartment housing over 20s pyong(66$m^2$) in the Kwangju area. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Housing life-styles were grouped into 9 sub-categories : the Anbang-centered, the dining-centered, the pursuit of conspicuosness and conformity, orientation to change, the pursuit of orderliness, the pursuit of decoration, orientation to community, pursuit of individuality and the orientation to a natural environment. 2. Housing life-styles were significantly different according to age, educational background, and employment status of homemakers, occupation of the primary income provider, family-life cycle stage, total household income, and housing size.   • Each ethnic group has a different cultural background and has developed its own culture in the name of a tradition. The interaction between different cultures is ever increasing through the process of acculturation or culture contact The purpose of this study is to provide baseline information about domestic living of Korean immigrants in Australia and Australians for a larger cross-cultural study project. As the first step, the usage of domestic space and seating styles of 52 Korean households in Melbourne were analyzed. Ethnographic research was conducted, utilizing a questionnaire. The findings of this research are as follows: 1. The most popular type of Living-Dining-Kitchen arrangement was the one which the kitchen is separated from the living and dining area. The level of satisfaction was the highest when the living room, dining room, and kitchen were all separated. 2. A laundry room was indispensable for Koreans in Australia, and they wanted to dry laundry and do ironing in there. Most people were satisfied with the toilet separated from the bathroom A drain hole on the floor of the bathroom was not indispensable for most Korean-Australians. 3. Korean-Australians tend to engage in various activities in their individual rooms, and they estimated that the size of most rooms were small. They also wanted to renovate the house to expand the rooms. 4. The seating style of Korean-Australians was mostly chair-seating. Yet, they often made beds on the floor for guests, and made kimchi sitting on the floor. Also, when they were relaxing, they were using both chair-seating and floor-seating. 5. Korean-Australians were not very satisfied with the use of floor carpets because of the dust collected on the carpets, and the difficulty to clean. It may be related to their preferred floor seating style, as well. 6. Almost all Korean-Australians take off their shoes inside of the house for hygienic reasons. They had a shoes cabinet at the entrance inside of the house. 7. The most popular heating system was ducted heating. The level of satisfaction about this was moderate because hot air contains lots of dust and it makes rooms very dry. Many were using electric blankets and their desired heating system was Ondol (heated floor). 8. Korean-Australians thought that the living room was the most important place for the family, and believed it should be decorated well to entertain guests. They also pointed out that the lighting was not bright enough in general.
