The purpose of this study was to evaluate facial form, arch form and tooth form in young adults to determine if a correlation exists. 115 subjects who had healthy natural maxillary incisors and good occlusion consisted of 71 males and 44 females ranging from 20-30 years of age. Facial photographs and, intraoral photographs of upper anterior teeth and dental casts of upper jaws were taken to demonstrate facial form, dental arch form and tooth form. Form analysis is determined by comparing the ratio of the widths of the faces, dental archs and the teeth. The Chi-square test of independence between facial form, arch form and tooth form, was executed and the significance level determined. The results were as follows : 1. The distribution of facial forms was 66.1% square-tapering, 27.0% square, 5.2% ovoid, 2% tapering-square. 2. The distribution of tooth forms was 65.2% ovoid, 20.0% square-tapering, 11.3 % tapering-square, 3.5 % square. 3. The distribution of arch forms was 50.4 % square-tapering, 48.7 % tapering, 0.9 % reverse tapering-square. 4. There was no large differences in the distribution of facial forms, dental arch forms and tooth-forms between male and female. 5. No relationship existed between the tooth form and the facial form. 6. No relationship existed between the facial form and the dental arch form. 7. No relationship existed between the tooth form and the dental arch form. 8. This gave the impression that dental arch form and facial form could not be used as a true index in tooth selection.
Objectives : This study proposes developing Sasang Medical Diagnosis Program using Facial form for increase in Sasang Constitution Diagnosis objectivity and putting the Diagnosis Program into practical use. The author presents a review of extant research on Sasang constitution diagnosis utilizing facial feature analysis and suggests an agenda for further research. Methods : For this thesis, a collection of dissertations on the subject of 'Usage of facial form for constitution diagnosis' published until September of 2012 such as RISS4U, OASIS, KISTI, Korean TK were reviewed. The final 33 dissertations were classified into two categories, basic or clinical research and then analyzed. Results : 9 out of 33 dissertations were of basic research and 24 were of clinical research. 1) As result of review of references, a uniform tendency was found in facial form according to Sasang Constitution. 2) In the grade of practical use, facial element is repeatedly used and the facial element of important use has constitutional differences. 3) Standard faces per Sasang Constitution were derived as result of 2-dimensional research. 4) 3-dimensional research focused on improvement of accuracy and reliability of 3D-AFRA, and there has been an attempt to develop a prototype for identification. Conclusions : For practical use of facial feature in Sasang Constitution Diagnosis, 1) Standardization of diagnosis through establishing Sasang Medical Diagnosis clinical protocol must be preceded. After the standardization, practical purpose and direction of facial form in general may be decided. 2) Information on high quality facial form of constitutional and conditional patients must be collected to form extensive database. 3) Subdivided symptomatology, as well as Sasang Constitution must be considered for diagnosis in order for diagnosis technique to acquire clinical practicality.
For the purpose of investigating the reasonable logics contained in physiognomy of east and old western medicine. hypothetical researches based on hydromechanics theory were performed concerning facial types of form and pathologic features, especially 4 types of Dr. Jisan-Essence, Qi energy. Emotional Activity and Blood(EQAB). In order to infer the functional relation between facial type forming and EQAB factors, EQAB were supposed as fluid grounded on their continual flowing or periodical change and pressure effect from its congestion. and a premise that there's a linear corresponding relationship between the appearance of organ and its physical conditions of its inner vessels is formed too. Through this work, the unit fluid model(UFM) of Essence can be assumed as circle shape formed by the high viscosity and surface tension, the UFM model of Qi energy as quadrangular shape by the scattering features to outer four directions, and the UFM of emotional activity as inverted triangular shape by the flippant and uprising features, and the UFM of blood as ellipsoid triangle by the heavy and descending features in spite of circulation. The shapes made from each UFM are reproduced in the process of human development and manifest respective facial shape through the self-reproduction method like fractal theory in the last. Conclusively. it is said that the facial form analysis method like EQAB type theory can be the useful methodology to understand the human pathological and physiological features in view of hydromechanics.
3D facial scanner for an accurate analysis is measured precisely a distance in straight, a distance in curved line, an angle in 3D data, the area of surface. We can easy acquire 3D data by the method of 0.8sec in each scan with easy handling, simple merge to whole face, harmless and fast process. In the HyungSang medicine, the inspection of the facial shape includes the Dam(gall bladder) - Bang Kwang(urinary bladder) body, the Jung${\cdot}$Gi${\cdot}$Shin${\cdot}$Hyul, the six merdian types etc. And we will collect the evidence based date verifing in the HyungSang clinical medicine. As we will analyze the facial whole form and the size${\cdot}$length${\cdot}$angle of the facial part, put the facial form's standardization on a solid foundation.
For over two thousand years, many artists and scientists have tried to understand or quantify the form of the perfect, ideal, or the most beautiful face both in art and in vivo(life). However, this mathematical relationship has been consistently and repeatedly reported to be present in beautiful things. This particular relationship is referred to as the golden ratio. It is a mathematical ratio of 1.618 : 1 that seems to appear recurrently in beautiful things in nature as well as in other things that are seen as beautiful. Dr. Marquardt made the facial golden mask that contains and includes all of the 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional geometric golden element formed from the golden ratio. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of the golden facial mask. In our cases(n=40), the authors applied the facial golden mask to the preoperative and postoperative photographs, and scored each photograph. Compared with the average scores of the facial mask applied photographs and none applied photographs using non-parametric test, statistical significance was not checked (p > 0.05). It means that the facial golden mask can be used for facial analysis. The facial golden mask is easy to apply, cheap and relatively objective. So, the authors introduce the one of useful facial analyses.
The purpose of this study is to set measurement parts which are important to identify the size and shape of the head in order to produce tightly fitted hats, and to identify detailed sizes and the major factors of head shape classifications of Korean women. A total of 285 Korean women's in the age group of 18 to 35 years old. It were measured through the direct measurement method by selecting 67 measurement items. Materials were analyzed by SPSS Ver.10 and technology statistics and factor analysis were performed according to the agenda. An attempt was made to conduct factor analysis of the measured region of the head in women's. Here, this study drew the head and the facial parts horizontal size as Factor 1, the head and facial parts vertical size as Factor 2, the circumference and width item as Factor 3, the factor representing the form of head height as Factor 4, the factor expressing the proportion of the facial form as Factor 5 and the factor about the frontal and back head form on the plan of the middle as Factor 6. Through this study, we will be able to systemize head measurement materials that can differentiate Korean's head from other peoples' and can use the results in developing head shape models according to Korean's head shape by selecting major head parts needed to identify the sizes and shapes.

A scenario known as conflict in face recognition may arise as a result of some disparity-related issues (such as expression, distortion, occlusion and others) leading to a compromise of someone's identity or contradiction of the intended message. However, addressing this requires the determination and application of appropriate procedures among the various conflict theories both in terms of concepts as well as resolution strategies. Theories such as Marxist, Game theory (Prisoner's dilemma, Penny matching, Chicken problem), Lanchester theory and Information theory were analyzed in relation to facial images conflict and these were made possible by trying to provide answers to selected questions as far as resolving facial conflict is concerned. It has been observed that the scenarios presented in the Marxist theory agree with the form of resolution expected in the analysis of conflict and its related issues as they relate to face recognition. The study observed that the issue of conflict in facial images can better be analyzed using the concept introduced by the Marxist theory in relation to the Information theory. This is as a result of its resolution strategy which tends to seek a form of balance as result as opposed to the win or lose case scenarios applied in other concepts. This was also consolidated by making reference to the main mechanisms and result scenario applicable in Information theory.
The purpose of this study is to classify the facial images and analyze shape characteristics of Korean women in their 20s. Previous research and survey were used for the study, the surveys targeted 220 university students in their 20s. The subjects of the experiment were 20-24 year-old Korean women. SPSS 12.0 statistics program was used to analyze the results, and factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ reliability analysis, and multidimensional scaling(MDS) were executed. The results of the study are as follows: First, the facial image types of Korean women in their 20s were classified into 4 categories as 'Youthfulness', 'Classiness', 'Friendliness', and 'Activeness'. Second, the multi-dimensional scaling method was performed and two orthogonal dimensions for the facial image of the Korean women were suggested: strong - soft and classy-friendly. Third, by analyzing the basic statistics concerning the structural characteristics of facial image of Korean women, there were differences in structural characteristics that form the facial images. Especially, significant difference appeared in items related forehead, eyebrows, eyes and jaw.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate craniofacial patterns in Korean male and female adults, and to compare morphologic differences between different facial types. In order to get configurational groupings, standardized lateral and P-A cephalograms of 174 Korean adults were measured and analyzed with seven angular, nineteen linear, four ratio, and two index measurements. Ward's minimum variance cluster analysis was employed to divide the sample into groups having similar craniofacial morphology, and thereafter, inductive statistics(t-test) was used to characterize morphologic differences of the divided groups. And also, Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to assess correlation between the cranial dimensions and upper/lower anterior facial height(UAFH, LAFH) in each facial types for both male and female The results were as follows; 1. There existed sexual dimorphism in most of variables except SN-FH angle, palatal plane angle, facial axis angle, facial index, lower anterior facial height ratio and upper facial height ratio. 2. A brachycephalic headform ($0.84{\pm}0.05$) with leptoprosopic facial form ($0.92{\pm}0.05$) was appeared in male, and a mesocephalic headform ($0.86{\pm}0.06$) with leptoprosopic facial form ($0.92{\pm}0.04$) was exhibited in female. 3. Facial types in both male and female subjects were divided into two groups, Group A (mesoprosopic facial type) and Group B (leptoprosopic facial type). The morphologic differences between Group A and Group B were as follows: a. Cranial measurements including index, angular and linear measurements were not found to be different between Group A and Group B in both sexes. b. Increased UAFH, LAFH, and upper/lower anterior dental heights were exhibited in Group Bs of both male and female. c. In both male and female, ramus height and mandible length showed no difference between Group A and Group B. However, genial angle was found to be larger in Group B than Group A. Therefore, the morphologic differences between two groups in male and female were closely related to less favorable anatomic morphology of the mandible. 4. LAFH and UAFH showed no relationships with cranial dimensions in male and female.
The form and location of chin is very important factor which determine the facial impression. Genioplasty is getting popular in order to improve the facial impression as facial beauty is considered as improvable factor. Through the geniplasty, chin can be moved to wanted location 3 dimensionally Genioplasty is relative simple but precise diagnosis and accurate surgical technique is very important for accurate and satisfying results. The form and shape of chin itself can be analysized and also must be evalulated in relation to the nose and lip and face. Author introduces the analysis of the chin, various surgical techniques of genioplasty and presents some cases.
