  • 본 논문에서는 웨이블릿을 이용한 알고리즘으로 얼굴을 검출하고 검출된 얼굴을 움직이는 Pan-Tilt 카메라상에서 추적하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 우리는 얼굴 검출을 위해 다섯 종류의 간단한 웨이블릿을 사용하여 특징을 추출하였고 AdaBoost(Adaptive Boosting) 알고리즘을 이용한 계층적 분류기를 통하여 추출된 특징들 중에서 얼굴을 검출하는데 강인한 특징들만을 모았다. 이렇게 만들어진 특징집합들을 이용하여 입력받은 영상에서 초당 20프레임의 실시간으로 얼굴을 검출하였고 영상에서 얼굴 위치와 Pan-Tilt 카메라 위치를 계산하여 실시간으로 움직임을 추적하는데 성공하였다.

  • Recently, many researches for making more comfortable input device based on gaze detection have been vigorously performed in human computer interaction. However, these previous researches are difficult to be used in IPTV environment because these methods need additional wearing devices or do not work at a distance. To overcome these problems, we propose a new way of controlling IPTV interface by using a detected face and eye positions in single static camera. And although face or eyes are not detected successfully by using Adaboost algorithm, we can control IPTV interface by using motion vectors calculated by pyramidal KLT (Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi) feature tracker. These are two novelties of our research compared to previous works. This research has following advantages. Different from previous research, the proposed method can be used at a distance about 2m. Since the proposed method does not require a user to wear additional equipments, there is no limitation of face movement and it has high convenience. Experimental results showed that the proposed method could be operated at real-time speed of 15 frames per second. Wd confirmed that the previous input device could be sufficiently replaced by the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a robust viewpoint estimation algorithm for Moving Parallax Barrier mobile 3D display in sudden illumination changes. We analyze the previous viewpoint estimation algorithm that consists of the Viola-Jones face detector and the feature tracking by the Optical-Flow. The sudden changes in illumination decreases the performance of the Optical-flow feature tracker. In order to solve the problem, we define a novel performance measure for the Optical-Flow tracker. The overall performance can be increased by the selective adoption of the Viola-Jones detector and the Optical-flow tracker depending on the performance measure. Various experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, a study on facial movements are analyzed in terms of opposite emotion stimuli by image processing of Kinect facial image. To induce two opposite emotion pairs such as "Sad - Excitement"and "Contentment - Angry" which are oppositely positioned onto Russell's 2D emotion model, both visual and auditory stimuli are given to subjects. Firstly, 31 main points are chosen among 121 facial feature points of active appearance model obtained from Kinect Face Tracking SDK. Then, pixel changes around 31 main points are analyzed. In here, local minimum shift matching method is used in order to solve a problem of non-linear facial movement. At results, right and left side facial movements were occurred in cases of "Sad" and "Excitement" emotions, respectively. Left side facial movement was comparatively more occurred in case of "Contentment" emotion. In contrast, both left and right side movements were occurred in case of "Angry" emotion.

  • This paper introduces a monitoring and tracking system for corona19 confirmed patients based on the collected data by installing a device that can manage the access list at the entrance to each building on the campus. The existing QR-based electronic access list can't measure the temperature of the person entering the building and it is inconvenient that members have to scan their QR codes with a smartphone. In addition, when the state manages information about confirmed patients and contacts on campus, it is not easy for members to quickly share and track information. These could lead to cases where a person is in close contact with an infected person developing another patient. Therefore, this paper introduces a device using face recognition library and a temperature sensor installed at the entrance of each building on the campus, enabling the administrator to monitor the access status and quickly track members of each building in real-time.

  • This paper introduces the design of a turtle neck posture correction and prevention system for users of digital devices for a long time. The number of forward head posture patients in Korea increased by 13% from 2018 to 2021, and has not yet improved according to the latest statistics at the present time. Because of the nature of the disease, prevention is more important than treatment. Therefore, in this paper, we designed a system based on built-camera in most laptops to increase the accessiblility of the system, and utilize the features such as Pose Estimation, Face Landmarks Detection, Iris Tracking, and Depth Estimation of Google Mediapipe to prevent the need to produce artificial intelligence models and allow users to easily prevent forward head posture.

Eye Gaze Tracking System Under Natural Head Movements (머리 움직임이 자유로운 안구 응시 추정 시스템)

  • We proposed the eye gaze tracking system under natural head movements, which consists of one narrow-view field CCD camera, two mirrors which of reflective angles are controlled and active infra-red illumination. The mirrors' angles were computed by geometric and linear algebra calculations to put the pupil images on the optical axis of the camera. Our system allowed the subjects head to move 90cm horizontally and 60cm vertically, and the spatial resolutions were about 6$^{\circ}$ and 7$^{\circ}$, respectively. The frame rate for estimating gaze points was 10~15 frames/sec. As gaze mapping function, we used the hierarchical generalized regression neural networks (H-GRNN) based on the two-pass GRNN. The gaze accuracy showed 94% by H-GRNN improved 9% more than 85% of GRNN even though the head or face was a little rotated. Our system does not have a high spatial gaze resolution, but it allows natural head movements, robust and accurate gaze tracking. In addition there is no need to re-calibrate the system when subjects are changed.

  • This research centers on the Taiwan Eye-Movement Corpus of Spanish (TECS), a specially created corpus comprising eye-tracking data from Chinese-speaking learners of Spanish as a third language in Taiwan. Its primary purpose is to explore the broad utility of TECS in understanding language learning processes, particularly the initial stages of language learning. Constructing this corpus involves gathering data on eye-tracking, reading comprehension, and language proficiency to develop a machine-learning model that predicts learner behaviors, and subsequently undergoes a predictability test for validation. The focus is on examining attention in input processing and their relationship to language learning outcomes. The TECS eye-tracking data consists of indicators derived from eye movement recordings while reading Spanish sentences with temporal references. These indicators are obtained from eye movement experiments focusing on tense verbal inflections and temporal adverbs. Chinese expresses tense using aspect markers, lexical references, and contextual cues, differing significantly from inflectional languages like Spanish. Chinese-speaking learners of Spanish face particular challenges in learning verbal morphology and tenses. The data from eye movement experiments were structured into feature vectors, with learner behaviors serving as class labels. After categorizing the collected data, we used two types of machine learning methods for classification and regression: Random Forests and the k-nearest neighbors algorithm (KNN). By leveraging these algorithms, we predicted learner behaviors and conducted performance evaluations to enhance our understanding of the nexus between learner behaviors and language learning process. Future research may further enrich TECS by gathering data from subsequent eye-movement experiments, specifically targeting various Spanish tenses and temporal lexical references during text reading. These endeavors promise to broaden and refine the corpus, advancing our understanding of language processing.

  • The global COVID-19 pandemic has transformed face masks from situational accessories to indispensable items in daily life, prompting a shift in public perception and behavior. While the relaxation of mandatory mask-wearing regulations is underway, a significant number of individuals continue to embrace face masks, turning them into a form of personal expression and identity. This phenomenon has given rise to the Fashion Mask industry, characterized by unique designs and colors, experiencing rapid growth in the market. However, existing research on masks is predominantly focused on their efficacy in preventing infection or exploring attitudes during the pandemic, leaving a gap in understanding consumer preferences for mask design. We address this gap by investigating consumer perceptions and preferences for two prevalent mask designs-horizontal fold flat masks and vertical fold flat masks. Through a comprehensive approach involving surveys and eye-tracking experiments, we aim to unravel the subtle differences in how consumers perceive these designs. Our research questions focus on determining which design is more appealing and exploring the reasons behind any observed differences. The study's findings reveal a clear preference for vertical fold flat masks, which are not only preferred but also perceived as unique, sophisticated, three-dimensional, and lively. The eye-tracking analysis provides insights into the visual attention patterns associated with mask designs, highlighting the pivotal role of the fold line in influencing these patterns. This research contributes to the evolving understanding of masks as a fashion statement and provides valuable insights for manufacturers and marketers in the Fashion Mask industry. The results have implications beyond the pandemic, emphasizing the importance of design elements in sustaining consumer interest in face masks.
