In this paper, a prototype tele-operative system with a mobile base was developed in order to automate cultivation of house melon. A man-machine interactive hybrid decision-making system via tele-operative task interface was proposed to overcome limitations of computer image recognition. Identifying house melon including position data from the field image was critical to automate cultivation. And it was not simple especially when melon is covered partly by leaves and stems. The developed system was composed of 5 major modules: (a) main remote monitoring and task control module, (b) wireless remote image acquisition and data transmission module, (c) three-wheel mobile base mounted with a 4 dof articulated type robot manipulator (d) exchangeable modular type end tools, and (e) melon storage module. The system was operated through the graphic user interface using touch screen monitor and wireless data communication among operator, computer, and machine. Once task was selected from the task control and monitoring module, the analog signal of the color image of the field was captured and transmitted to the host computer using R.F. module by wireless. A sequence of algorithms to identify location and size of a melon was performed based on the local image processing. Laboratory experiment showed the developed prototype system showed the practical feasibility of automating various cultivating tasks of house melon.

The ShortStack Micro Server enables any product that contains a microcontroller or microprocessor to quickly and inexpensively become a networked, Internet-accessible device. The ShortStack Micro Server provides a simple way to add LonWorks networking to new or existing smart devices. . It implements the LonTalk protocol and provides the physical interface with the LonWorks communication. The ShortStack host processor can be an 8, 16, or 32-bit microprocessor or microcontrollers. The ShortStack API and driver typically require about 4kbytes of program memory on the host processor and less than 200 bytes of RAM. The interface between host processor and the ShortStack Micro Server may be a Serial Communication Interface (SCI). The LonWorks control module with a high performance is developed, which is composed of the 8 bit PIC Microprocessor for host processor and the smart neuron chip for the ShortStack Micro Server. This intelligent control board is verified as proceeding the various function tests from experimental system with an boost pump and inverter driving systems. It is also confirmed that the developed control module provides stably 0-10VDC linear signal to the input signal of inverter driving system for varying the induction motor speed. Thus, the experimental results show that the fabricating intelligent board carried out very well the various functions in the wide operating ranges of boost pump system. This developed control module expect to apply to industrial fields to require the comparatively exact control and monitoring such as multi-motor driving system with inverter, variable air volume system and the boost pump water supply systems.
The effects of chemical pretreatments on the excess sludge production in the membrane-coupled bioreactor were investigated. In addition, their effects on membrane fouling were also evaluated. Two membrane bioreactors were operated. In one reactor, a part of the mixed liquor was t reated with NaOH and ozone gas consecutively and was returned to the reactor. T he f lowrate of the chemical pretreatment stream was 1.5% of the influent flowrate. During the 200days of operation, the MLSS level in the bioreactor with mixed liquor pretreatment was maintained relatively constant at the range of 8,000 ~ 10,000$mg/{\ell}$ while it increased steadily up to 26,000 $mg/{\ell}$ in the absence of the pretreatment. Each reactor was equipped with two laboratory membrane modules where the flux for each module was 20, and 30 ${\ell}/m^2{\cdot}h$, respectively. With pretreatment, almost constant transmembrane pressure(TMP) was observed throughout the operation at the flux of 20 ${\ell}/m^2{\cdot}h$. Without pretreatment the membrane module at the same flux could also be operated at relatively stable condition. However, as the MLSS increases up to 25,000 $mg/{\ell}$, a fast TMP increase was observed. In conclusion, a complete control of excess sludge production in the membrane-coupled bioreactor was possible without significant deterioration of the treated water quality. In addition, it was shown that stable operation in terms of TMP is possible with sludge pretreatment and recirculation.
In this study, we try to formularize simultaneous equations to make a prediction about pressure drop for designing intravascular artificial lung assist device. Designing parameters to predict the effect of pressure drop and designed modules under various conditions were studied through an experimental modeling before inserting the artificial lung assist device into as venous. We measured pressure drop in various number of hollow fiber membranes, when the inside diameter of shell is fixed in 3 cm, and tried to develope the prediction equations by curve fitting based on the correlation between the experimental pressure drop and the device frontal area or packing density. The results showed that pressure drop increased with 2nd order functional formula as the liquid flow rate, the frontal area, and the packing density increased. Also, we can estimate the pressure drop as a function of the frontal area or packing density. The pressure drop obtained from the experiment was similar to that from the equation, confirming the usefulness of the equation.

Visual media(image, graphic, and video) processing poses challenge from several perpectives, specifically from the point of view of real-time implementation and scalability. There have been several approaches to obtain speedups to meet the computing demands in multimedia processing ranging from media processors to special purpose implementations. A variety of parallel processing strategies are adopted in these implementations in order to achieve the required speedups. We have investigated a parallel processing system for improving the processing speed o f visual media related applications. The parallel processing system we proposed is similar to a pipelined memory stystem(MAMS). The multi-access memory system is made up of m memory modules and a memory controller to perform parallel memory access with a variety of combinations of 1${\times}$pq, pq${\times}$1, and p${\times}$q subarray, which improves both cost and complexity of control. Facial recognition, Phong shading, and automatic segmentation of moving object in image sequences are some that have been applied to the parallel processing system and resulted in faithful processing speed. This paper describes the parallel processing systems for the speedup and its utilization to three time-consuming applications.

We construct a deep neural network model named ECGResNet. This model can diagnosis diseases based on 12-lead ECG data of eight common cardiovascular diseases with a high accuracy. We chose the 16 Blocks of ResNet50 as the main body of the model and added the Squeeze-and-Excitation module to learn the data information between channels adaptively. We modified the first convolutional layer of ResNet50 which has a convolutional kernel of 7 to a superposition of convolutional kernels of 8 and 16 as our feature extraction method. This way allows the model to focus on the overall trend of the ECG signal while also noticing subtle changes. The model further improves the accuracy of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease classification by using a fully connected layer that integrates factors such as gender and age. The ECGResNet model adds Dropout layers to both the residual block and SE module of ResNet50, further avoiding the phenomenon of model overfitting. The model was eventually trained using a five-fold cross-validation and Flooding training method, with an accuracy of 95% on the test set and an F1-score of 0.841.We design a new deep neural network, innovate a multi-scale feature extraction method, and apply the SE module to extract features of ECG data.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is utilizing CAD technology in a way that ultimately ties all the components of a building together as objects imbedded with information, and has been changing the way we design and build over the last 20-30 years. In Polytechnic Institute of NYU, there are four BIM courses offered which provide students with different levels of knowledge regarding BIM Technique, BIM Standards, BIM Guideline and Roadmap for Private and Public Implementation, BIM Application in Real Projects, the Cooperation of BIM and IPD for Public Works in New York City. With advanced BIM technology, BIM's integration into the construction process and its incorporation into project delivery systems, especially Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) are the bridges between technology, industry and research. This paper presents an integrated BIM curriculum with three modules: 1) BIM functions and Bid Preparation; 2) Time-Cost Trade-off Analysis; and 3) Problems Solving in BIM/IPD Environment. In this project-based curriculum developed by the common efforts of academia, public agency and industry, the objectives are: (1) to provide the information and skills needed to successfully implement BIM into the construction phase; (2) to identify BIM's role in construction and the project delivery system; (3) to develop a module in conjunction with leading BIM into project delivery system, particularly coordination between BIM and IPD; (4) to connect technology and research into industry. The course assessment was conducted and the results indicate that it is a successful reform in construction management education.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide; therefore there is a need to discover new therapeutic modules with improved efficacy and safety. Immune-(cell) therapy is a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of intractable cancers. The effectiveness of certain chemotherapeutics in inducing immunogenic tumor cell death thus promoting cancer eradication has been reported. Ginsenoside Rg3 is a ginseng saponin that has antitumor and immunomodulatory activity. In this study, we treated tumor cells with Rg3 to verify the significance of inducing immunogenic tumor cell death in antitumor therapy, especially in DC-based immunotherapy. Rg3 killed the both immunogenic (B16F10 melanoma cells) and non-immunogenic (LLC: Lewis Lung Carcinoma cells) tumor cells by inducing apoptosis. Surface expression of immunogenic death markers including calreticulin and heat shock proteins and the transcription of relevant genes were increased in the Rg3-dying tumor. Increased calreticulin expression was directly related to the uptake of dying tumor cells by dendritic cells (DCs): the proportion of CRT+CD11c+cells was increased in the Rg3-treated group. Interestingly, tumor cells dying by immunogenic cell death secreted IFN-γ, an effector molecule for antitumor activity in T cells. Along with the Rg3-induced suppression of pro-angiogenic (TNF-α) and immunosuppressive cytokine (TGF-β) secretion, IFN-γ production from the Rg3-treated tumor cells may also indicate Rg3 as an effective anticancer immunotherapeutic strategy. The data clearly suggests that Rg3-induced immunogenic tumor cell death due its cytotoxic effect and its ability to induce DC function. This indicates that Rg3 may be an effective immunotherapeutic strategy.

This work presents a new method for enhancing the performance of a dual band Planer Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) and its lumped equivalent circuit formulation. The performance of a PIFA in terms of return loss, bandwidth, gain, and efficiency is improved with the addition of the proposed open stub in the radiating element of the PIFA without disturbing the operating resonance frequencies of the antenna. In specific cases, various simulated and fabricated PIFA models illustrate that the return loss, bandwidth, gain, and efficiency values of antennas with longer optimum open stub lengths can be enhanced up to 4.6 dB, 17%, 1.8 dBi, and 12.4% respectively, when compared with models that do not have open stubs. The proposed open stub is small and does not interfere with the surrounding active modules; therefore, this method is extremely attractive from a practical implementation point of view. The second presented work is a simple procedure for the development of a lumped equivalent circuit model of a dual band PIFA using the rational approximation of its frequency domain response. In this method, the PIFA's measured frequency response is approximated to a rational function using a vector fitting technique and then electrical circuit parameters are extracted from it. The measured results show good agreement with the electrical circuit results. A correlation study between circuit elements and physical open stub lengths in various antenna models is also discussed in detail; this information could be useful for the enhancement of the performance of a PIFA as well as for its systematic design. The computed radiated power obtained using the electrical model is in agreement with the radiated power results obtained through the full wave electromagnetic simulations of the antenna models. The presented approach offers the advantage of saving computation time for full wave EM simulations. In addition, the electrical circuit depicting almost perfect characteristics for return loss and radiated power can be shared with antenna users without sharing the actual antenna structure in cases involving confidentiality limitations.
