Background Descent of the lateral aspect of the brow is one of the earliest signs of aging. The purpose of this study was to describe an open surgical technique for lateral brow lifts, with the goal of achieving reliable, predictable, and long-lasting results. Methods An incision was made behind and parallel to the temporal hairline, and then extended deeper through the temporoparietal fascia to the level of the deep temporal fascia. Dissection was continued anteriorly on the surface of the deep temporal fascia and subperiosteally beyond the temporal crest, to the level of the superolateral orbital rim. Fixation of the lateral brow and tightening of the orbicularis oculi muscle was achieved with the placement of sutures that secured the tissue directly to the galea aponeurotica on the lateral aspect of the incision. An additional fixation was made between the temporoparietal fascia and the deep temporal fascia, as well as between the temporoparietal fascia and the galea aponeurotica. The excess skin in the temporal area was excised and the incision was closed. Results A total of 519 patients were included in the study. Satisfactory lateral brow elevation was obtained in most of the patients (94.41%). The following complications were observed: total relapse (n=8), partial relapse (n=21), neurapraxia of the frontal branch of the facial nerve (n=5), and limited alopecia in the temporal incision (n=9). Conclusions We consider this approach to be a safe and effective procedure, with long-lasting results.

This study aims to define the influences of an individual's talent types and body consciousness factors on high((intense)-level appearance management behavior in 367 adults(female 172 and male 195). The present study is the first to consider both human talent type and the body consciousness on the high level-appearance management behavior correlates to appearance management behaviour. According to the result of the analysis, plastic surgery on body forms or faces are done by few people. However, straightening teeth, ear piercing, removal of spots or imperfections, and eyebrow tattoos are conducted by many consumers without much resistance. It is rather widely accepted, despite the fact that it can cause pain, discomfort, and side-effects. Furthermore, although excessive acts such as muscle training, dieting, weight managing, and oriental treatments can lead to side-effects, the standardized efficient beta value turned out to be high for these treatments. Thus, this study suggests that both the interpersonal talent among 8 talent factors and 2 body consciousness factors contributes to the reinforcement of the self-identity through high level-appearance management behaviors, but except risky plastic surgery. Therefore, this study supports the previous researches that body consciousness composed of self-source, which is desires and efforts to achieve the ideal body, and external-source, which is the internalization of other people's feedbacks.

이 논문은 눈동자와 입술을 효과적으로 인식하는 방법을 제안하였다. 얼굴에서 가장 어두운 부분 중의 하나인 눈동자와 밝은 부분인 흰자위로 구성되는 눈의 형태적인 특징과 눈동자와 눈썹 사이의 관계를 반영하는 평가함수를 이용하여 눈동자를 인식하였다. 입술 형태, 입술과 인접한 피부와의 밝기 차이를 반영하는 가중치 벡터들을 사용하여 두 입술 사이의 경계선과 입술의 4개 특징점(양 끝점 및 위와 아래의 끝점)을 찾았다. 여러 영상들에 대해 실험하여 좋은 결과를 얻었다.

In this paper, we propose the neural network based emotion recognition method for intelligently recognizing the human's emotion using vision system. In the proposed method, human's emotion is divided into four emotion (surprise, anger, happiness, sadness). Also, we use R,G,B(red, green, blue) color image data and the gray image data to get the highly trust rate of feature point extraction. For this, we propose an algorithm to extract four feature points (eyebrow, eye, nose, mouth) from the face image acquired by the color CCD camera and find some feature vectors from those. And then we apply back-prapagation algorithm to the secondary feature vector(position and distance among the feature points). Finally, we show the practical application possibility of the proposed method.

본 논문에서는 두 대의 카메라 영상으로부터 얼굴의 포즈를 추정하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 먼저 두 얼굴 영상으로부터 대응되는 눈썹, 눈, 입의 특징점을 추출한 다음, 스테레오 비전의 삼각법에 의해 특징점에 대한 3차원 위치를 계산한다. 그 다음에는 특징점으로 부터 삼각형을 생성하고 그 삼각형에 수직 방향을 계산함으로써 얼굴의 포즈를 계산한다. 계산된 얼굴의 포즈를 3D 얼굴 모델에 적용해 본 결과 본 논문에서 제안된 방법이 정확한 얼굴 포즈를 추정할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Various medical scenarios have arisen with the prolonged coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In particular, the increasing number of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients has prompted reports of emergency surgical experiences with these patients at regional trauma centers. In this report, we describe an example. A 25-year-old male was admitted to the emergency room after a traffic accident. The patient presented with stuporous mentality, and his vital signs were in the normal range. Lacerations were observed in the left eyebrow area and preauricular area, with hemotympanum in the right ear. Brain computed tomography showed a contusional hemorrhage in the right frontal area and an epidural hematoma in the right temporal area with a compound, comminuted fracture and depressed skull bone. Surgical treatment was planned, and the patient was intubated to prepare for surgery. A blood transfusion was prepared, and a central venous catheter was secured. The initial COVID-19 test administered upon presentation to the emergency room had a positive result, and a confirmatory polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test was administered. The PCR test confirmed a positive result. Emergency surgical treatment was performed because the patient's consciousness gradually deteriorated. The risk of infection was high due to the open and unclean wounds in the skull and brain. We prepared and divided the COVID-19 surgical team, including the patient's transportation team, anesthesia team, and surgical preparation team, for successful surgery without any transmission or morbidity. The patient recovered consciousness after the operation, received close monitoring, and did not show any deterioration due to COVID-19.

With the popularization of 5G networks and the development of AI (artificial intelligence) technology, Metaverse, which creates production capacity by combining virtual space and reality, is attracting attention. In this study, we searched for makeup applications with more than 100 million downloads from October 11, 2020 to November 3, 2020 through the Google Play Store. As a result of the search, four applications were found: YouCam Makeup, YouCam Perfect, Beauty Plus, and Sweet Snap. Based on the functions provided by the four applications, we attempted to suggest makeup functions applicable to Zepeto's avatar. Functions for the eyes (eyeliner, eyelashes, mascara, eye shadow, eye shape, eyebrow shape, lenses, double eyelids), functions for the nose (nose shape), functions for the mouth (lipstick, lip shape, smile function) ) Functions corresponding to the facial contour (contour, skin foundation, blusher, shading, highlighter, face painting, theme makeup) and functions corresponding to the body (body adjustment) were proposed. This study is the first in the beauty field to propose a method of applying the functions of the Metaverse platform as the importance of digital platforms is highlighted, and is the first to propose a makeup function applied to the Metaverse so that it can be used as important basic data in the future.

This study aims to investigate how the woman's beauty makeup trend had been changed in 1960s by analyzing the characteristics of woman's make-up in that period. For this study, a lot of documents and papers related to the woman's make-up were collected and reviewed. In particular, to analyze the characteristics of woman's make up trend in 1960s, a lot of women's pictures and makeup-related articles from 143 volumes of woman's magazines such as Yeowon and Jubusaenghwal were collected. Among the 624 pictures, fifty two pictures which were good enough for studying the total face and makeup were used for this study. The period of this study ranges from 1960 through 1969 and the analysis is focused on skin expression, eyebrow, eye shadow, eye line, lipstick, and brusher and through the related articles, the intention and contents of make up. were delivered and found out. The results are as follows. In early 1960s, the woman's make up was characterized by the make up ranging from unnatural and gray skin expression to dense pink skin expression, giving natural and glossy tint onto the skin and in particular putting a bright accent on the eyelid, eye or lip. In the mid-1960s, the make up style expressed skin more naturally, giving more shading on the eyelid, nose and lip, thus having cubic make-up. In the late 1960s, the make up became more refined and harmonized by using colors according to the TPO (time, place and objective) and skin color. The study results show that the women in 1960s pursued the "cute and young looking image" and used the make up to express their images young and cute. In the mid 1960s, the minimalism which pursued the pure and simple make up appeared in US. That trend affected the make up style of Korean women and hence Korean women showed more natural make up style in the mid and late 1960s.

얼굴 분석은 얼굴 인식 머리 움직임과 얼굴 표정을 이용한 인간과 컴퓨터사이의 인터페이스, 모델 기반 코딩, 가상현실 등 많은 응용 분야에서 유용하게 활용된다. 이러한 응용 분야에서는 얼굴의 특징점들을 정확하게 추출해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 눈, 눈썹, 입술의 코너와 같은 얼굴 특징을 자동으로 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 먼저, 입력 영상으로부터 AdaBoost 기반의 객체 검출 기법을 이용하여 얼굴 영역을 추출한다. 그 다음에는 계곡 에너지. 명도 에너지, 경계선 에너지의 세 가지 특징 에너지를 계산하여 결합한다. 구해진 특징 에너지 영상에 대하여 에너지 값이 큰 수평 방향향의 사각형을 탐색함으로써 특징 영역을 검출한다. 마지막으로 특징 영역의 가장자리 부분에서 코너 검출 알고리즘을 적용함으로써 눈, 눈썹, 입술의 코너를 검출한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 얼굴 특징 추출 방법은 세 가지의 특징 에너지를 결합하여 사용하고 계곡 에너지와 명도 에너지의 계산이 조명 변화에 적응적인 특성을 갖도록 함으로써, 다양한 환경 조건하에서 견고하게 얼굴 특징을 추출할 수 있다.

Sebaceous carcinomas of the eyelids are uncommon but lethal tumors. Lesions are usually seen in the elderly, predominantly women. The meibomian glands of the tarsus are the most frequent site of origin. Less commonly, the tumor arises in other sebaceous glands, e.g., the gland of Zeis, eyebrow or caruncle. Regardless of the location, sebaceous malignancies must be considered aggressive neoplasms with a potential for regional and distant metastasis. Diagnosis may be difficult, given the low incidence and inconsistencies in histopathologic classification. Treatment requires wide surgical excision with removal of involved regional lymph nodes and exenteration is reserved for those patients with orbital involvement or diffuse intraepithelial neoplasia. Opinions are divided regarding the use of postoperative irradiation or chemotherapy. Recently we experienced 46-year-old male patient with a 12-month history of painless, firm nodule and conjunctivitis due to sebaceous carcinoma of the left upper eyelid. After surgery, serial sections of the entire conjunctiva and eyelids showed a positive cut margin in medial and lateral border. We report herein this patient that supports irradiation as the postoperative treatment of these tumors in selected patients with a review of literatures.
