점안용 소염약침액의 안전성 및 유효성 평가 (The Experimental study of safety and efficacy in using Soyeom Pharmacopuncture solution as eyedrops)

  • Objective : This experimental study was performed to investigate the safety of Soyeom Pharmacopunture solution manufactured by extraction of alcohol and water. To identify the use of it as eyedrops, the eye irritation test of rabbits and antibacterial test of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, and Candida albicans was performed. Methods : 1. The eye irritation test of this material was performed according to the Regulation of Korea Food & Drug Administration(2005. 10. 21, KFDA 2005-60). After Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was administered in the left eye of the rabbits, eye irritation of the cornea, iris and conjunctiva was observed at 1, 2, 3, 4 & 7day. 2. After administering Soyeom Pharmacopuncture solution on bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, Candida albicans) which cause Keratitis, MIC(Minimum Inhibition Concentration) and the size of inhibition zone were measured. Anti-bacterial potency was also measured using the size of inhibition zone. Results : 1. After Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was administered in the left eye of the rabbits, it was found that none of nine rabbits have abnormal signs and weight changes. 2. After Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was medicated in the left eye of the rabbits, no eye irritation of the cornea, iris and conjunctiva was observed at 1, 2, 3, 4 & 7day. 3. There was no response to MIC on bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, Candida albicans) after Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was medicated. Conclusions : The present study suggests that Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution is a non-toxic and non-irritant medicine, which does not cause eye irritation in rabbits, but dosen't have anti-bacterial effects on bacterial species which cause Keratitis. These study result recommends that more research on other herbal medicines of eye drop for Keratitis are required.

Evaluation on Clinical Application of Osmotic Pump with Dorzolamide in Normal Dogs

  • This study was designed to compare the effects of continuous release of an anti-glaucoma drug applied by an osmotic pump and by conventional eye drop instillation in normal beagle dogs, by measuring drug concentration in the blood and monitoring intra-ocular pressure (IOP). In group 1, an osmotic pump filled with Trusopt® was implanted subcutaneously over the right eye of each dog and the IOP was measured. In group 2, the right eye of each dog was administered with 2% dorzolamide (Trusopt®, Merck, USA) three times per day. Blood was sampled once per week in all groups. The IOP of the end of this study was 16.7 ± 0.58 mmHg in group 2 and 17.7 ± 2.52 mmHg in group 2. Dorzolamide concentration in blood increased continuously over 4 weeks up to 585.8 ± 79.42 ㎍/L in group 1, and 747.3 ± 27.89 ㎍/L in group 2. We achieved satisfactory results in the osmotic pump group, which had a similar effect on IOP, and low fluctuations in IOP. Therefore, the results of this study should allow osmotic pumps to be consider as an alternative method to eye drops for the effective, safe, and convenient treatment of glaucoma.

급격한 환경변화에 대한 angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) 젖산탈수소효소 동위효소의 변화 (Variation of Lactate Dehydrogenase Isozymes in Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) according to Acute Environmental Change)

  • 열대 저산소 환경에 적응되어 있는 angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)를 급격한 온도변화($27{\pm}0.5{\rightarrow}18{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$) 및 DO 변화($6{\pm}1{\rightarrow}18\;ppm$)에 2시간 동안 적응시킨 후 젖산탈수소효소(EC 1.1.1.27, lactate dehydrogenase, LDH) 동위효소의 특성 및 유전자발현을 연구하였다. LDH 동위효소의 특성은 native-polyacrylamide gel 전기영동, Western blot 분석 및 효소활성 측정으로 확인하였다. 전기영동 결과 liver- 및 eye-specific Ldh-C 유전자는 간, 눈 및 뇌 조직에서 발현되었다. Western blot 분석 결과 LDH $A_4$ 동위효소는 $B_4$ 동위효소보다 음극 쪽에 나타났다. 간 조직에서 온도 저하 시 LDH $A_4$ 동위효소가 증가하고 $B_4$ 동위효소는 감소하였으며, DO 증가 시 LDH $A_4$$C_4$ 동위효소가 증가하고 $B_4$ 동위효소는 감소하였다. 눈 조직에서는 온도 저하 시 LDH $A_4$$B_4$ 동위효소가 증가하고 $C_4$ 동위효소는 감소하였으며, DO 증가 시 LDH $A_4$$B_4$ 동위효소는 증가하지만 $C_4$ 동위효소 및 하부단위체 C를 포함하는 동위효소는 감소하였다. 심장 조직에서는 DO 증가 시 LDH 활성이 증가하였고, LDH $B_4$ 동위효소가 증가하였다. 뇌 조직에서는 온도 저하 시 LDH $A_4$$B_4$ 동위효소가 증가하였고, DO 증가 시 LDH $B_4$ 동위효소는 증가하였다. 따라서 liver- 및 eye-specific Ldh-C는 DO 변화에 의해 영향을 받으며 간 및 눈 조직에서 LDH $B_4$$C_4$ 동위효소는 서로 상대적으로 조절되므로 $C_4$ 동위효소는 lactate oxidase로서 기능을 나타내는 것으로 사료된다.

"Letter-Box" Conjunctival Flap in a Dog with Severe Corneal Edema after Phacoemulsification

  • A two-year-old, spayed female, Bichon Frise, was referred for severe corneal edema and corneal ulcer in the left eye (OS). The cornea had gradually swelled over one week after phacoemulsification performed a month prior, and that was refractory to 5% sodium chloride eye drop instillation or temporary partial tarsorrhaphy. A complete ophthalmic examination was performed. Severe corneal edema with intrastromal bullae and moderate anterior chamber flare was found on slit-lamp biomicroscopy in the OS, which obstructed the fundus examination. Corneal thickness was measured using high-resolution ultrasound biomicroscopy. The thickness of the OS cornea was 2.74 mm. The "letter-box" conjunctival flap was planned. Dorsal and ventral superficial keratectomy followed by a hood conjunctival flap was performed. Topical and systemic antibiotics and 5% sodium chloride eye drops were prescribed. Decreased corneal thickness was observed at one week, two weeks, and two months postoperatively (1.53 mm, 1.32 mm, and 0.92 mm, respectively). There were no postoperative complications, such as ocular discomfort or recurrent corneal ulcers. The "letter-box" conjunctival flap, a type of superficial keratectomy and conjunctival advancement hood flap, effectively relieved the severe irreversible corneal edema. This could be a simple but effective surgical intervention for patients with endothelial cell damage especially after phacoemulsification.

Prophylactic effect of topical betaxolol and dorzolamide on the fellow eye in unilateral canine primary angle closure glaucoma: 60 cases (2016.1-2021.5)

  • This study was aimed to evaluate the prophylactic anti-glaucoma effect of topical 5% betaxolol (BTX) and 2% dorzolamide (DRZ) on the second eye in dogs with unilateral primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG). Medical records of 60 dogs with unilateral PACG who received prophylactic anti-glaucoma eyedrops in the second eye, from 2016 to 2021, were reviewed. The prophylactic effects of BTX were maintained on 28/60 (46.7%) eyes until last visit and BTX failure was observed on median 510 (range, 53-1,927) days in 32/60 (53.3%) eyes. After DRZ instillation in BTX failure eyes, the prophylactic effects were extended at median 610 (range, 157-2,270) days in 21/32 (65.6%) eyes. DRZ failure eyes (17/21, 81.0%) eyes required chemical ablation or surgical intervention due to uncontrolled intraocular pressure. The duration of prophylactic effects was decreased with aging (R2 = 0.334, p = 0.006). The predominant breeds were Shih-Tzu (41.9%) and American Cocker Spaniel (30.6%) with no significant differences in survival curves (p = 0.210). The average prophylactic effects of BTX persisted more than 1.5 year and could be selected the first prophylactic eye drop in unilateral PACG. Also, early surgical intervention should be considered in prophylactic medications failure cases.

The effects of PEP-1-FK506BP on dry eye disease in a rat model

  • As FK506 binding proteins (FK506BPs) are known to play an important role in the regulation of a variety of biological processes related to cell survival, this study was designed to examined the protective effects of FK506 binding protein 12 (FK506BP) on low humidity air flow induced dry eye in a rat model using transduced PEP-1-FK506BP. After the topical application of PEP-1-FK506BP, tear volumes were markedly increased and significant prevention of cornea damage was observed compared with dry eye rats. Further, immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated that PEP-1-FK506BP markedly prevented damage to the cornea, the bulbar conjunctiva, and the palpebral conjunctiva epithelial lining compared with dry eye rats. In addition, caspase-3 and PARP expression levels were found to be decreased. These results demonstrated that topical application of PEP-1-FK506BP significantly ameliorates dry eye injury in an animal model. Thus, we suggest that PEP-1-FK506BP can be developed as a new ophthalmic drop to treat dry eye diseases.

차세대 DVD 시스템용 Actuator 연구 (Study on Dual-Lenses Actuator for HD-DVD System)

  • Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in this blue system. In order to readout CD and DVD in HD-DVD system, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D (working distance). This dual-lenses actuator has two objectives in radial direction, one is for CD/DVD and the other is for HD-DVD. We had to solve the induced problems of DC tilt increase, $2^{nd}$ resonance deterioration and AC sensitivity drop caused by disposing two lenses in an actuator. Especially, to solve AC sensitivity drop, we introduced two 2-pole magnets and separated focus and track magnetic circuits. Consequently we presented that dual-lenses actuator has been possessed good performance. And we measured eye patterns of CD, DVD and HD-DVD by using HD-DVD optical pick-up with dual-lenses actuator.

옥외 설치된 비정질 실리콘 박막태양전지모듈의 전기적 출력 특성 분석 (Analysis of Electrical Characteristics of Amorphous Silicon Thin Film Photovoltaic Module Exposed Outdoor)

  • In this study, we analyze the electrical characteristics of amorphous silicon thin film photovoltaic module which are installed about 5 years ago. Four modules from PV system are extracted and measured the maximum power change ratio using solar simulator(Class A). Also, infrared camera is used to get thermal distribution characteristics of system. The external appearance change is compared with initial module by naked eye examination. Through this experiment, 31% maximum output power drop is observed. The detail description is specified as the following paper.

적외선 조명 카메라를 이용한 시선 위치 추적 시스템 (Gaze Detection System by IR-LED based Camera)

  • 사용자의 시선 위치를 파악하는 연구는 많은 응용분야를 가지고 지난 몇년간 눈부시게 발전되어 왔다. 기존의 대부분 연구에서는 영상 처리 방법만에 의존하여 시선 위치 추적 연구를 수행하였기 때문에 처리 속도도 늦고 많은 사용 제약을 가지는 문제점이 있었다. 이 논문에서는 적외선 조명이 부착된 단일 카메라를 이용한 컴퓨터 비전 시스템으로 시선 위치 추적 연구를 수행하였다. 사용자의 시선 위치를 파악하기 위해서는 얼굴 특징점의 위치를 추적해야하는데, 이를 위하여 이 논문에서는 적의선 기반 카메라와 SVM(Support Vector Machine) 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 사용자가 모니터상의 임의의 지점을 쳐다볼 때 얼굴 특징점의 3차원 위치는 3차원 움직임량 추정(3D motion estimation) 및 아핀 변환(affine transformation)에 의해 계산되어 질 수 있다. 얼굴 특징점의 변화된 3차원 위치가 계산되면. 이로부터 3개 이상의 얼굴 특징점으로부터 생성되는 얼굴 평면 및 얼굴 평면의 법선 벡터가 구해지게 되며, 이러한 법선 백터가 모니터 스크린과 만나는 위치가 사용자의 시선위치가 된다. 또한. 이 논문에서는 보다 정확한 시선 위치를 파악하기 위하여 사용자의 눈동자 움직임을 추적하였으며 이를 위하여 신경망(다층 퍼셉트론)을 사용하였다. 실험 결과, 얼굴 및 눈동자 움직임에 의한 모니터상의 시선 위치 정확도는 약 4.2cm의 최소 자승 에러성능을 나타냈다.

IoT 모듈 패키지 디자인 최적화 및 드론에서의 낙하해석 연구 (Study of IoT Module Package Design Optimization for Drop Testing by Drone)

  • 이번 논문에선 육안으로 확인하기 어려운 곳에 남아있는 불씨들을 효율적으로 감지하기 위해 CO2와 온도 변화를 감지하는 기능을 탑재한 잔불 감지용 IoT 모듈을 개발하여 이를 보호하는 패키지를 유한요소해석을 사용하여 최적화하였다. 개발된 모듈은 불씨의 특성을 고려하여 저전력 원거리 통신이 가능한 LoRa 기술을 적용하여 제작하였다. 제작된 모듈을 보호하기 위한 패키지 디자인을 고안하여 낙하 시 발생하는 응력에 대해 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, Model C에서 가장 작은 응력이 발생하였다. 또한 패키지의 모듈 장착부분에 응력 집중이 예측된 타 모델들과 달리 날개 부분에서 응력이 집중 현상이 예측되어 내부 모듈을 보호하기에 적합하다 판단해 이를 적용한 패키지를 제작하였다.
