In this study, the performance of group suction anchors installed in sand and subjected to pullout loading was investigated by numerical analysis. The group suction anchors consist of two or three units rigidly connected to each other in parallel array and the pullout resistances were compared with that of a single anchor. Parametric study was performed using numerical models to study the effect of the physical conditions of the group anchor. The parameters include the skirt length to diameter ratio of a unit suction anchor, the pad-eye location, inclination of loading and the spacing between unit suction anchors. The analysis shows that the ratios of the pullout capacity of double suction anchor and triple suction anchor to that of single anchor are 1.7 and 2.4, respectively. The ratio increases with the increase in the spacing between the unit anchors. The other parameters such as the skirt length to the diameter ratio, the location of the pad-eye and the loading inclination have negligible effect on the ratio of pullout resistances of the group anchor to the single anchor.

Purpose : This study presents the usefulness assessment of secondary shield for the lens exposure dose reduction during radiation treatment of peripheral orbit. Materials and Methods : We accomplished IMRT treatment plan similar with a real one through the computed treatment planning system after CT simulation using human phantom. For the secondary shield, we used Pb plate (thickness 3mm, diameter 25mm) and 3 mm tungsten eye-shield block. And we compared lens dose using OSLD between on TPS and on simulation. Also, we irradiated 200 MU(6 MV, SPD(Source to Phantom Distance)=100 cm, $F{\cdot}S\;5{\times}5cm$) on a 5cm acrylic phantom using the secondary shielding material of same condition, 3mm Pb and tungsten eye-shield block. And we carried out the same experiment using 8cm Pb block to limit effect of leakage & transmitted radiation out of irradiation field. We attached OSLD with a 1cm away from the field at the side of phantom and applied a 3mm bolus equivalent to the thickness of eyelid. Results : Using human phantom, the Lens dose on IMRT treatment plan is 315.9cGy and the real measurement value is 216.7cGy. And after secondary shield using 3mm Pb plate and tungsten eye-shield block, each lens dose is 234.3, 224.1 cGy. The result of a experiment using acrylic phantom, each value is 5.24, 5.42 and 5.39 cGy in case of no block, 3mm Pb plate and tungsten eye-shield block. Applying O.S.B out of the field, each value is 1.79, 2.00 and 2.02 cGy in case of no block, 3mm Pb plate and tungsten eye-shield block. Conclusion : When secondary shielding material is used to protect critical organ while irradiating photon, high atomic number material (like metal) that is near by critical organ can be cause of dose increase according to treatment region and beam direction because head leakage and collimator & MLC transmitted radiation are exist even if it's out of the field. The attempt of secondary shield for the decrease of exposure dose was meaningful, but untested attempt can have a reverse effect. So, a preliminary inspection through Q.A must be necessary.

The ultrastructure of the trachea of the compound eye in adult cabbage butterfly, Pieris rapae L., was studied. Trachea under the basement membrane is divided into tracheoles of the ommatidia which blanched 4 tracheoles during 2 divisions. Tracheoles of the ommatidia originated from one tracheolar cell and its nuclear is located under the basement membrane and its cytoplasm enveloped the retinular cell and the retinular pigment cell. The modified structure of tracheoles is located at the first division area of the ommatidia and its size is $8{\mu}mX4.5{\mu}m$. And the length of its taenidium is $0.1{\sim}0.6{\mu}m$, diameter $0.15{\mu}m$, and interval $0.3{\mu}m$.
We investigated the relative growth and squamation of larvae and juveniles of cultured Larimichthys polyactis. Analysis of the relative growth of larvae and juveniles showed that their preanal length, head length, eye diameter, body depth, and snout length increased with growth. There was no significant chage in the relative growth. The ratio of preanus length to standard length (SL) increased rapidly until SL was approximately 12 mm, and then increased gradually. Cycloid scales first appeared on the lateral line, progressed to the abdominal cavity at 15.13 mm SL, and expanded to the occipital region, base of pectoral fin, and ventral region of the eye at 17.82 mm SL. At 18.03 mm SL, scales formed on the cheek, and those at the base of pectoral fin and in the abdominal cavity were connected to each other. At 19.06 mm SL, major part of the head was covered by scales, except near the lower jaw. Cycloid scales on the lateral line changed to ctenoid scales at the range of 31.71-32.24 mm SL, and those on the nape changed at the range of 69.02-70.84 mm SL. Our results may help to establish conservation and management strategy for Larimichthys polyactis aquaculture.
Purpose: In order to find suitable size of soft contact lens for different ages group of elementary student to adults, visible iris diameter(horizontal, vertical) and palpebral aperture size were measured. Methods: Visible iris diameter (horizontal, vertical) and palpebral aperture size were measured in different age groups of total 514 subjects (1028 eyes) who have no eye disease and none history of surgery included cosmetic purpose. Results: No significant difference was found in iris diameter of both horizontal and vertical direction for different groups of age and sex but horizontal direction of palpebral aperture size in middle school students and university students groups and vertical direction of palpebral aperture size in high school student group shows significant difference (p<0.05) by sex. Horizontal visible iris diameter, vertical visible iris diameter, horizontal palpebral aperture size and vertical palpebral aperture size shows significant difference in difference age and sex. Conclusions: Visible iris diameter and palpebral aperture size are affective factor for soft contact lens diameter decision, especially it should considered more intensive for removing uncomfortable feeling of lens wearer.

The Human body is subject to two patterns of senescence, both of which are represented in the eye and vision. This article discusses the anatomical and physiological changes in anterior and posterior segments which occur with age. The areas covered include the globe, lids, tears, conjunctiva, cornea, sclera, anterior chamber angle, iris, lens, choroid, vitreous and retina. A sample of 219 individuals between the ages of 50 and 79 years was tested with case history, slit lamp examination, palpebral fissure, horizontal visible iris diameter(HVID) and pupil size. The palpebral fissure decreases with age while HVID remains constant in all age classes. This study suggests that an understanding of anatomical and physiological changes which occur with age is helpful to all eye clinicians because the aging process affects all of the ocular tissues.

We report 2 cases of Thelazia rhodesii infection in the African buffaloes, Syncerus caffer, in Zambia. African buffalo calves were captured from the livestock and wildlife interface area of the Kafue basin in the dry season of August 2005 for the purpose to translocate to game ranches. At capture, calves (n = 48) were examined for the presence of eye infections by gently manipulating the orbital membranes to check for eye-worms in the conjunctival sacs and corneal surfaces. Two (4.3%) were infected and the mean infection burden per infected eye was 5.3 worms (n=3). The mean length of the worms was 16.4 mm (95% CI; 14.7-18.2 mm) and the diameter 0.41 mm (95% CI; 0.38-0.45 mm). The surface cuticle was made of transverse striations which gave the worms a characteristic serrated appearance. Although the calves showed signs of kerato-conjunctivitis, the major pathological change observed was corneal opacity. The calves were kept in quarantine and were examined thrice at 30 days interval. At each interval, they were treated with 200 ${\mu}g/kg$ ivermectin, and then translocated to game ranches. Given that the disease has been reported in cattle and Kafue lechwe (Kobus lechwe kafuensis) in the area, there is a need for a comprehensive study which aims at determining the disease dynamics and transmission patterns of thelaziasis between wildlife and livestock in the Kafue basin.

The conventional spot-type UV curing machine configures a collimator optical system using a plurality of lenses so that the light beam is incident through an optical cable. In order to increase the transmission light efficiency, a collimator optical system composed of three or more lenses is required, and accordingly, it is difficult to align the optical system, and it is difficult to implement the system compactly. In this study, a single TIR lens collimator that can realize the same level of spot diameter and light efficiency as the conventional collimator optical system composed of three lenses was designed. Through this, the light efficiency at the curing area with the minimum illuminance deviation was 33.2 %, which was similar to the performance of the reference collimator optical system, and the illuminance deviation on the curing area was 18.8 %, ensuring acceptable performance. In addition, by arranging a fly-eye lens with field flattening function at the front end of the condensing lens, the effective curing area diameter was reduced from 5.0 mm to 3.0 mm, enabling higher curing energy density to be realized. In addition, it was confirmed that the illuminance deviation can be greatly improved to a level of 14.4%.
Purpose : To evaluate the degree of the artifact which is caused by the mascara and the eye shadow when acquiring MR images and compare the difference of the image distortion according to the change of various pulse sequence. Material and Method : The popular domestic mascara and eye shadow products were selected from three different companies respectively and divided into two groups mascara (M1, M2, M3 ), eye shadow (E1, E2, E3). Self-designed quadrature type saddle coil which has 4 cm inside diameter, 8 cm length and which is for both Tx and Rx was used. MR image was acquired respectively after applying the mascara to the tape from study 1, the eye shadow to the tape from study 2 and adding the eye shadow to the mascara from study 3. The FSE(fast spin echo), the SE(spin echo), the GE(gradient echo) were used as pulse sequences. The degree of the image distortion which was measured from each sequence was analyzed in quality and quantity. Result : The mascara and the eye shadow caused the artifacts to the MR images partially and induced the image distortion. There was a little difference in terms of the degree of artifact according to the change of pulse sequence. From the study 3 in which the eye shadow was applied to the mascara, on the axial plane image, the width of artifact was 16.73 mm in the GE pulse sequence, 6.64 mm in the SE pulse sequence, and 6.19 mm in the FSE pulse sequence. The degree of the artifact appeared highly in order of the GE, the SE and the FSE. On the sagittal plane image, the length of artifact was 22.84 mm in the GE, 17.81 mm in the SE and it appeared highly with the SE and the FSE technique order. Conclusion : When examining the eyeball and the brain of a woman with the mascara and the eye shadow, we have to consider that the artifact caused by them can have an effect on the image diagnosis. We concluded that it is more suitable for a brain and a eyeball T2 emphasizing image to use the FSE technique than the GE technique.
Purpose: The cleaning effect of protein deposit and the change of contact lens parameters by ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses on the soft contact lenses were investigated. Methods: Etafilcon A contact lenses contaminated with protein, was ultrasonicated by ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses and for the control group, spoiled contact lenses were cleaned by multi-purpose solution. The remaining protein deposits on the contact lenses were determined after extraction and the changes of overall diameter, base curve, center thickness power, and water contents on contact lenses were measured and surfaces of contact lenses were observed by scanning electron microscope. Results: The cleaning efficacies of multi-purpose solution on protein deposited etafilcon A contact lenses were 6.08%, and 23.73~33.92% in the group of ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses with multi-purpose solution and 0~12.99% in the group of ultrasonic clear for contact lens with multipurpose solution depending on the treatment time. The changes of parameters and surface on contact lenses by ultrasonication were not observed. Conclusions: Ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses can be used to eliminate protein deposits for the diagnostic soft contact lens in the office since it was effective to eliminate protein deposits and not caused change of parameters on soft contact lenses.
