Purpose: Previous studies have solely focused on fresh extraction sockets, whereas in clinical settings, alveolar sockets are commonly associated with chronic inflammation. Because the extent of tissue destruction varies depending on the origin and the severity of inflammation, infected alveolar sockets may display various configurations of their remaining soft and hard tissues following tooth extraction. The aim of this study was to classify infected alveolar sockets and to provide the appropriate treatment approaches. Methods: A proposed classification of extraction sockets with chronic inflammation was developed based upon the morphology of the bone defect and soft tissue at the time of tooth extraction. The prevalence of each type of the suggested classification was determined retrospectively in a cohort of patients who underwent, between 2011 and 2015, immediate bone grafting procedures (ridge preservation/augmentation) after tooth extractions at Seoul National University Dental Hospital. Results: The extraction sockets were classified into 5 types: type I, type II, type III, type IV (A & B), and type V. In this system, the severity of bone and soft tissue breakdown increases from type I to type V, while the reconstruction potential and treatment predictability decrease according to the same sequence of socket types. The retrospective screening of the included extraction sites revealed that most of the sockets assigned to ridge preservation displayed features of type IV (86.87%). Conclusions: The present article classified different types of commonly observed infected sockets based on diverse levels of ridge destruction. Type IV sockets, featuring an advanced breakdown of alveolar bone, appear to be more frequent than the other socket types.

Given a document, keyphrase extraction is to automatically extract words or phrases which topically represent the content of the document. In unsupervised keyphrase extraction approaches, candidate words or phrases are first extracted from the input document, and scores are calculated for keyphrase candidates, and final keyphrases are selected based on the scores. Regarding the computation of the scores of candidates in unsupervised keyphrase extraction, this study proposes a method of adjusting the scores of keyphrase candidates according to the types of keyphrase candidates: word-type or phrase-type. For this, type-token ratios of word-type and phrase-type candidates as well as information content of high-frequency word-type and phrase-type candidates are collected from the input document, and those values are employed in adjusting the scores of keyphrase candidates. In experiments using four keyphrase extraction evaluation datasets which were constructed for full-text articles in English, the proposed method performed better than a baseline method and comparison methods in three datasets.
Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), ultrasonic extraction (USE), and accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) were compared with the well known Soxhlet extraction for the extraction of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins(PCDDs) from the XAD-2 resin which was used to adsorb PCDDs in the atmosphere. XAD-2 resin spiked with five PCDDs was chosen as a sample. The optimum conditions for the extraction of PCDDs by SFE were turned out to be the use of CO2 modified with 10% toluene at 100 ℃ and 350 atm, with 5 min static extraction followed by 20 min dynamic extraction. SFE gave a good extraction rate with good reproducibility for PCDDs ranging from 68 to 98%. The ultrasonic extraction of PCDDs from XAD-2 was investigated and compared with other extractions. A probe type method was compared with a bath type. Two extraction solvents, toluene and acetone were compared with their mixture. The use of their mixture in probe type, with 9 minutes of extraction time, was found to be the optimum condition. The average recovery of the five PCDDs for USE was 82-93%. Accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) with a liquid solvent, a new technique for sample preparation, was performed under elevated temperatures and pressures. The effect of tem-perature on the efficiency of ASE was investigated. The extraction time for a 10 g sample was less than 15 min, when the organic solvent was n-hexaneacetone mixture (1 : 1, v/v). Using ASE, the average recoveries of five PCDDs ranged from 90 to 103%. SFE, USE, and ASE were faster and less laborious than Soxhlet extraction. The former three methods required less solvent than Soxhlet extraction. SFE required no concentration of the solvent extracts. SFE and ASE failed to perform simultaneous parallel extractions because of instrumental limitations.

In order to effectively utilize fish(Cod, Gadus macrocephalus) bone obtained as fish waste in fish manufactory, the preparation of the fish bone gelatin were attempted by heat extracting method from collagen protein contained in the fish bone. The methods of two kinds pretreatments (the B-type by alkali pretreatment and the E-type by enzyme pretreatment) for fish bone and the optimal extraction conditions to prepare gelatin from pretreated fish bone were investigated. Physical properties and functionalities of the two type fish bone gelatins obtained were compared with the commercial gelatin and the fish skin gelatin. The optimal extraction conditions of the B-type and the E-type gelatins were 5 folds of added water with material(w/w), pH 5.0, 3 hrs of extraction time and 60$\circ$C of extraction temperature. The yield of the B-type and the E-type gelatins were 32.6% and 28.1 %, respectively. The B-type gelatin was superior to the E-type un all physical properties. Molecular weight of the B-type was larger than that of the E-type due to its pretreatment method. Among the composition of amino acids, the amino acids such as glycine, alanine, glutamic acid and imino acids(proline and hydroxyproline) were responsible for 68$\sim$70% of the total amino acids. Functionalities of the fish bone gelatin were almost similar to commercial gelatin.

Heat flow characteristics during hot water extraction process was studied experimentally. Data were taken at various outlet port type for the fixed inlet port type, inlet-outlet temperature differences and mass flow rates. In this study, the temperature distribution in a storage tank and an outlet temperature were measured to predict a flow pattern in the storage tank, and a hot water extraction efficiency was analysed with respect to the variables dominating a extraction process. Experimental results show that the extraction efficiency is high in a low flow rate in case of using modified distributor I(MDI) as a outlet port type.

In order to reduce long preparating time for alkali pretreated B-type gelatin, enzyme pretreatment was tried on flounder(Limanda aspera) skin for I-type gelatin. The optimal extraction conditions of the B-type gelatin were 9 folds of added water with material(w/w), 3 hrs of extraction time, $60^{\circ}C$ of extraction temperature and pH 5. The maximum amount of I-type gelatin was extracted at $60^{\circ}C$ for 3 hrs using water controlled to pH 6.0(material : water= 1:9, w/w). The yields of the B- and E-type gelatin were $64.2\%\;and\;59.2\%,$ respectively. The B-type was superior to the B-type in physical properties such as jelly strength, viscosity and electric conductivity. Molecular weight of B-type was so far larger than that of the E-type due to different pretreatment method. Hydrolysis ratio of the E-type was higher than that of the B-type because of its molecular weight. Results suggest that B-type product would be better than I-type as fish skin gelatin but E-type was desirable in hydrolyzate preparation.
The objective of this study was to investigate the extraction of chromium(Vl) ion in waste water through the liquid surfactant membrane with open-type Perforated Reciprocating-Plate Column. Extraction experiments were conducted to measure the effect of flow characteristics of continuous and dispersed phase and stroke velocity, sodium hydroxide concentraction in internal aqueous phase, sulfuric acid concentraction in outer phase, and residence time distribution and measured extraction velocity. The result of experiments showed that extraction velocity of chromium ion was maximum when stroke velocity was 180 1/min and dispersion phase velocity was 30m11min, continuous phase velocity was 20m1/min. Extraction velocity of chromium ion increased with increasing difference of hydrogen ion concentraction of dispersion and continuous phase and column stage decreased.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the principal reasons for primary teeth extractions and the tooth type extracted in children. 1159 patients were selected in this study. Dental records and radiographs were reviewed and age, gender, medical history, type of tooth extracted and the reasons for extraction were collected. The data were statistically analyzed using Chi-square test. Total 2078 primary teeth were extracted. Central incisors(34.1%) were most frequently extracted. Extractions due to physiological mobility(77.5%) were the most frequent followed by caries(13.8%), orthodontic(3.9%), trauma(1.7%). Reason for the extraction was different according to age (p = 0.000), but there was no difference according to gender (p = 0.109). While extractions due to physiological mobility predominated overall, reason for extraction was different according to the tooth type. There was no previous treatment in 54.6% of primary teeth extracted due to caries. Excluded physiological mobility, caries are the most common reason for extraction of primary teeth. The importance of preventive care should be emphasized in order to preserve primary teeth and improve children's oral health.

Objectives: This study examined the effects of plasma-rich growth factors (PRGF) on accelerating bone regeneration/repair in fresh extraction sockets, and determined the quality and quantity of bone by assessing the bone density using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Twenty patients, who had undergone bilateral extractions, were included in this study. In one extraction socket, PRGF was used and covered with an autologous fibrin plug. Nothing was used in the opposite side extraction socket. Thirteen weeks post extraction, the level of bone regeneration was evaluated on both sides with CBCT. Results: At the end of the study, the mean bone density according to the Hounsfield units (HU) in the control group and PRGF group was 500.05 HU (type III bone type) and 647.95 HU (type II bone type), respectively. Conclusion: This study recommends the use of PRGF in post extraction sites to accelerate the rate of bone regeneration and improve the quality of regenerated bone. The technique to process PRGF was simple compared to previously mentioned techniques used for platelet-rich plasma (PRP) preparation. PRP preparation requires a two-cycle centrifugation procedure, leading to a longer processing time.
In this paper, we presents a method for multi-level logic mainmization which is suitable for the minimization of look-up table type FPGAs. A pattern extraction algorithm is minimized AND/XOR multi-level circuits. The circuits apply to Roth-Karp decomposition which is most commonly used technique in the FPGA technology mapping. We tested the FPGA synthesis method using pattern extraction on a set of benchmark. The proposed method achieved reductions on the number of LUTs in mapping soultion as compared with MISII(or SIS) or previous results〔5〕
