The Microwave-Assisted Extraction of Fats from Irradiated Meat Products for the Detection of Radiation-Induced Hydrocarbons

  • Hydrocarbons have been successfully used as a chemical marker in order to identify irradiated from non-irradiated foods. The method for determining hydrocarbons consists of extraction of fats, followed by separation of hydrocarbons by florisil column chromatography, and then identification of hydrocarbons by GC/MS. Currently, solvent extraction method for fats has certain limitations with regard to extraction time and solvent consumption. Commercial hams and sausage were irradiated at 0 and 5 kGy, and the efficiency of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and conventional solvent extraction (CSE) methods on the extraction of radiation-induced hydrocarbons from the meat products was compared. Significant levels of hydrocarbons, mainly composed of 1,7-hexadecadien, 1,7,10-hexadecatriene, and 6,9-heptadecadiene, were detected in the extracts from irradiated hams and sausages by both CSE and MAE methods. Both methods were acceptable in extracting hydrocarbons from samples, but MAE method required apparently reduced amounts of solvent from 150 (CSE) to 50 mL and reduced extraction time from 23 (CSE) to 5 min.

  • 말로네이트 제조 공정에서 발생되는 폐액으로부터 용매추출법을 적용하여 코발트 회수 연구를 하였다 용매 추출에서의 주요 변수는 용매의 선택, pH, 코발트 농도, 역추출 온도 등이며 이러한 변수들의 영향을 조사하였다. 용매로써 DEHPA와 PC88A가 사용되었으며 이들 용매의 평형추출 곡선을 구하였다. 공장설계 조건을 찾기 위하여 Mccabe-Tiele 선도를 작성하였고, 연속 공정인 믹서-세틀러 장치를 가동하였다. 본 연구 결과 폐액 중에서 코발트는 99.9% 이상 회수되었고, 회수된 황산코발트의 순도는 99.9% 이상이었다.

A Simple Method for Determining Residual p-arsanilic Acid in Aquatic Products using EDTA-Assisted Solvent Extraction and LC-MRM

  • A simple method was developed to determine residual p-arsanilic acid (ASA), an organo-arsenic compound used as a feed additive, in aquatic products (eel, halibut, and shrimp) using EDTA-assisted solvent extraction and LC-MRM. The method was successfully validated in terms of specificity, linearity (coefficient of determination ≥ 0.995), accuracy (recovery or R, 72.72-78.73%), precision (the relative standard deviation of R, 2.08-6.98%), and sensitivity (the lower limit of quantitation, 5 ppb) according to CODEX guidelines (CAC-GL 71-2009). The use of EDTA in the extraction solvent and water with a suitable pH modifier as the reconstitution solvent may be the key factors for successful results. This is the first method that can be used for monitoring residual ASA in aquatic products using LC-MRM and could contribute to establishing a better aquatic product safety management system.

  • 평형 추출장치를 사용하여 유기산의 물리추출과 반응추출에서 추출도에 미치는 추출제의 종류와 농도, 용매의 영향을 조사하였다. 사용된 유기산은 아크릴산과 메타크릴산이었고, 추출제로는 n-octylamine(OA)과 di-n-octylamine(DOA), tri-n-octylamine(TOA)및 tri-octylmetyl ammonium chloride(TOMAC ; Aliquat 336)을 사용하였다. 실험결과 반응추출에서 추출도는 물리추출의 경우보다 2~9배 정도 증가 되었으며, 유기산의 추출도에 미치는 추출제의 영향은 OA, TOMAC, DOA 및 TOA의 순서로 추출도가 증가하였으며, 또한 추출제의 농도가 증가할수록 추출도가 증가하였다. 용매의 영향은 종래의 용매의 유전상수보다는 용해도인자에 의한 용매선택 방법이 신뢰성이 있었고, 용질과 용매의 용해도인자의 차이가 작을수록 추출도가 증가하여 케로진, 크실렌, 클로로포롬, MIBK 및 n-BAc의 순서로 좋아졌다.

선박 세척폐수에 함유된 유기주석화합물의 용매추출특성 (Solvent Extraction of Organotin from Ship Wash Wastewater)

  • 수리조선소에서 발생하는 TBT 함유 선박세척폐수의 용매추출 처리기술을 개발하기 위한 기초연구로서 인공 선박세척폐수를 이용하여 선박용 및 자동차용 디젤, 벙커 B유, 신너, 톨루엔, 에테르 등의 여러 가지 용매들의 TBT 추출효율을 비교하였으며, 추출효율에 대한 추출용매의 양 및 교반시간, 강도, pH 등의 추출조건의 영향을 평가하였다. 선박용 경유는 신나, 병커B 등에 비해 상대적으로 우수한 TBT 추출효율을 보였으며, 적정 추출용매 주입량은 폐수 IL 당 용매 10mL로 평가되었다 TBT 추출을 위한 교반강도가 50rpm에서 250rpm으로 증가함에 따라 잔류 TBT 농도는 약 120ppb에서 2.8ppb로 크게 감소하였다 잔류 TBT는 추출 1시간이후 크게 감소하였으며, 5시간 이후부터는 다시 증가하였다. 추출효율에 대한 Ph의 영향은 크지 않았으나, pH 6∼7의 약산성영역에서 양호한 추출효율을 보였다.

  • 식품내의 비타민 E를 분석하는 방법은 여러 가지 방법이 있으나 최근에는 비타민 E의 8가지 동족체를 모두 분석할 수 있는 HPLC 방법 이 가장 많이 이용되고 있다. 비타민 E를 분석함에 있어 가장 중요한 과정은 식품으로부터 비타민 E를 추출하는 과정이며 검화방법, 직접용매추출법, Soxhlet 추출법 등이 이용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 곡류 14종을 대상으로 세 가지 추출방법을 비교하였으며 직접용매추출법과 Soxhlet 추출법을 이용하였을 경우 검화방법보다 높은 분석치를 얻을 수 있었다. 곡류에서의 비타민 E의 함량을 측정한 결과를 a-TE로 나타내었으며 흑미에서 5.12 a-TE/100g으로 가장 높았고 기장에서 0.32 a-TE/100 g으로 가장 낮은 함량을 나타내었다.

해양생물 Botryococcus braunii에서 유래한 바이오연료의 고급생산기술: 전처리 용매추출법 (Higher Production of Biolipids from Botryococcus braunii using Pre-treated Solvent Extraction Methods)

  • A lipid-enriched strain of Botryococcus braunii (UTEX 572) was cultivated in a semi-batch aeration tank to enhance biomass as well as to develop intracellular lipids and fatty acids. A 30 day period of incubation produced 1.39 g/L of biomass and 0.31 g/L of total lipids in the biomass. The grown biomass was pre-treated using several methods to extract the total lipid content efficiently: ultrasonication was found to yield the highest percentage of lipids-namely 19.8% per biomass. Direct heating of biomass in an autoclave also showed better performance than when using only conventional solvent extraction. To enhance the biomass harvest and lipid extraction efficiency, coagulation and flocculation steps were added to the extraction process. It is noteworthy that not only the solvent type but also the solvent/biomass ratio greatly affected efficiency. In addition, the moisture content of the harvested(wet) biomass affected the efficiency significantly. This study elucidated the need for future research on optimizing this extraction process.

Structure Optimization of Di-ionizable Calixarene Nano-baskets for Competitive Solvent Extraction of Alkali and Alkaline Earth Metals

  • The competitive solvent extractions of alkali and alkaline earth metals by di-ionizable calix[4]arene nano-baskets were studied using nine conformers of calix[4]arene nano-baskets. The objective of this work is to assess the variation of macrocycle conformation, orientation and position of pendant moieties upon the extraction parameters (efficiency, selectivity and $pH_{1/2}$) of the complexes. The results revealed that alternation of ring conformation in calixarene scaffold affects the solvent extraction parameters towards alkali and alkaline earth metals, while changing the orientation of pendant moieties from ortho- to para- as well as cis- to trans-analogues depicted no changes in those extraction parameters.

  • The solvent extraction process for the recovery of vanadium from leaching solution of SCR(selective catalytic reduction) spent catalyst was investigated by using Alamine336 as an extractant. The effects of experimental conditions, such as initial pH and concentration of sulfate ion, and ammonia concentration of stripping solution were studied. The extraction percentage of vanadium were increased with the increase of initial pH of leaching solution and decreased with the increase of sulfate ion. More than 99% of vanadium in leaching solution were extracted and stripped at the A/O ratio of 1.0 in 2 stages. On the basis of these results, an optimum solvent extraction process which vanadium was effectively recovered from SCR spent catalyst was proposed.

Quality and characteristics of ginseng seed oil treated using different extraction methods

  • Ginseng seed oil was prepared using compressed, solvent, and supercritical fluid extraction methods of ginseng seeds, and the extraction yield, color, phenolic compounds, fatty acid contents, and phytosterol contents of the ginseng seed oil were analyzed. Yields were different depending on the roasting pretreatment and extraction method. Among the extraction methods, the yield of ginseng seed oil from supercritical fluid extraction under the conditions of 500 bar and $65^{\circ}C$ was the highest, at 17.48%. Color was not different based on the extraction method, but the b-value increased as the roasting time for compression extraction was increased. The b-values of ginseng seed oil following supercritical fluid extraction were 3.54 to 15.6 and those following compression extraction after roasting treatment at $200^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, were 20.49, which was the highest value. The result of the phenolic compounds composition showed the presence of gentisic acid, vanillic acid, ferulic acid, and cinnamic acid in the ginseng seed oil. No differences were detected in phenolic acid levels in ginseng seed oil extracted by compression extraction or solvent extraction, but vanillic acid tended to decrease as extraction pressure and temperature were increased for seed oil extracted by a supercritical fluid extraction method. The fatty acid composition of ginseng seed oil was not different based on the extraction method, and unsaturated fatty acids were >90% of all fatty acids, among which, oleic acid was the highest at 80%. Phytosterol analysis showed that ${\beta}$-sitosterol and stigmasterol were detected. The phytosterol content of ginseng seed oil following supercritical fluid extraction was 100.4 to 135.5 mg/100 g, and the phytosterol content following compression extraction and solvent extraction was 71.8 to 80.9 mg/100 g.
