In recent years, LiDAR technology has been becoming more popular and important. Its applications are completely replacing the traditional remote sensing technique. One of these applications is creating Digital City Models in urban areas, which is essential for many others such as disaster management, cartographic mapping, simulation of new buildings, updating and keeping cadastral data. In most of these cases the building outlines is the primary feature of interest. In this paper, a method of extracting building outlines from LiDAR data will be performed.
Digital topographic map in Korea contains layers of spatial and attribute data for 8 land features such as railroads, watercourses, roads, buildings and etc. Some of the layers such as building and forest don't include any information about height, which can be just prepared by interpretation of remote sensed data or field survey. LiDAR(Light Detection And Ranging) data using active pulse and digital camera provides data about height and form of land features. LiDAR data can be used not only to extract the outline of land features but also to estimate the height. This study presents technical availability for extraction and estimation of land feature's outline and height using LiDAR data which composes of natural and artificial land features, and digital aerial photograph which was taken simultaneously with the LiDAR. The estimated location, outline and height of land features were compared with the field survey data, and we could find that LiDAR data and digital aerial photograph can be a useful source for estimating the height of land features as well as extracting the outline.
This paper presented a method of extracting shape information from a clipart image and then measured the similarity between clipart images using the extracted shape information. The results indicated that the outlines of the extracted clipart images were clearer that those of the original images. Previous methods of extracting shape information could be classified into outline-based methods and region-based methods. Included in the former category, the proposed method expressed the convex and concave aspects of an outline using the ratio of a rectangle. Accordingly, the proposed method was superior in expressing shape information than previous outline-based feature methods.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can recognize not only the number of stretched fingers but also determination of attached fingers for extracting features required for hand gesture recognition. The proposed algorithm detects the hand area in the input image by the skin color range filter based on a color model and labeling, and then recognizes various hand gestures by extracting the number of stretched fingers and determination of attached fingers using curvature information extracted from outlines and feature points. Experiment results show that the recognition rate and the frame rate are similar to those of the conventional algorithm, but the number of gesture cases that can be defined by the extracted characteristics is about four times higher than the conventional algorithm, so that the proposed algorithm can recognize more various gestures.
Free-form blades are widely used in different industries, such as aero-engine and steam turbine. Blades that are damaged during service or have production deficiencies are usually replaced with new ones. This leads to the waste of expensive material and is not sustainable. However, material and costs can be saved by repairing of locally damaged blades or blades with localized production deficiencies. The blade needs to be further machined after welding process to reach the aerodynamic performance requirements. This paper outlines an adaptive location approach of repaired blade for model reconstruction and NC machining. Firstly, a mathematical model is established to describe the localization problem under constraints. Secondly, by solving the mathematical model, localization of repaired blade for NC machining can be obtained. Furthermore, a more flexible method based on the proposed mathematical model and the continuity of the deformation process is developed to realize a better localization. Thirdly, by rebuilding the model of the repaired blade and extracting repair error, optimized tool paths for NC machining is generated adaptively for each individual part. Finally, three examples are given to validate the proposed method.
In epigraph field to study ancient scripts, alternative readability improvement technologies have been developed to replace existing rubbing method which has low resolution and causes surface pollution of heritages from the viewpoints of extraction process and used materials. Recently many methods which are based on analysis of pixel data for extracting outlines of the specific image have been developed with advancement of image processing techniques. But these methods are not applicable and the results are not satisfied in the damaged inscriptions which are weathered by wind and rain for a long time and in the narrowed one. In this paper laser scanning techniques which uses optical triangulation measurement principle are developed to minimize scanning error. The proposed techniques are consisted of 3 parts:(1) the understanding of optical triangulation measurement principle to find scanning guideline (2) determinations of points interval, scanning distance and scanning angle to guarantee scanning data quality (3) identification of valid point data area which will be used in registration process. The proposed character identification method contributed in decoding an ancient inscription on SeukBingGo in Kyungju.
In this paper, a new security algorithm to recognize the type of the vehicle with the vehicle image as a input image is suggested. The vehicle recognition security algorithm is composed of five core parts, such as the input image, background removal, edge areas extraction, pre-processing(binarization), and the vehicle recognition. Therefore, the final recognition rate of the security algorithm for vehicle type recognition can be affected by the function and efficiency of each step. After inputting image into a gray scale image and removing backgrounds, the binarization is performed by extracting only the edge region. After the pre-treatment process for making outlines clear, the type of vehicles is categorized into large vehicles, passenger cars and motorcycles through the ratio of height and width of the vehicle.

Traditionally used for networking computers and communications, the Internet has been evolving from the beginning. Internet is the backbone for many things on the web including social media. The concept of social networking which started in the early 1990s has also been growing with the internet. Social Networking Sites (SNSs) sprung and stayed back to an important element of internet usage mainly due to the services or provisions they allow on the web. Twitter and Facebook have become the primary means by which most individuals keep in touch with others and carry on substantive conversations. These sites allow the posting of photos, videos and support audio and video storage on the sites which can be shared amongst users. Although an attractive option, these provisions have also culminated in issues for these sites like posting offensive material. Though not always, users of SNSs have their share in promoting hate by their words or speeches which is difficult to be curtailed after being uploaded in the media. Hence, this article outlines a process for extracting user reviews from the Twitter corpus in order to identify instances of hate speech. Through the use of MPCA (Modified Principal Component Analysis) and ECNN, we are able to identify instances of hate speech in the text (Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network). With the use of NLP, a fully autonomous system for assessing syntax and meaning can be established (NLP). There is a strong emphasis on pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. Cleansing the text by removing extra spaces, punctuation, and stop words is what normalization is all about. In the process of extracting features, these features that have already been processed are used. During the feature extraction process, the MPCA algorithm is used. It takes a set of related features and pulls out the ones that tell us the most about the dataset we give itThe proposed categorization method is then put forth as a means of detecting instances of hate speech or abusive language. It is argued that ECNN is superior to other methods for identifying hateful content online. It can take in massive amounts of data and quickly return accurate results, especially for larger datasets. As a result, the proposed MPCA+ECNN algorithm improves not only the F-measure values, but also the accuracy, precision, and recall.

Research on developing algorithms for building modeling such as extracting outlines of the buildings and segmenting patches of the roofs using aerial images or LiDAR data are active. However, utilizing information from the building model is not well implemented yet. This study aims to propose a scheme for search identical or similar shape of buildings by utilizing graph topology pattern matching under the assumptions: (1) Buildings were modeled beforehand using imagery or LiDAR data, or (2) 3D building data from digital maps are available. Side walls, segmented roofs and footprints were represented as nodes, and relationships among the nodes were defined using graph topology. Topology graph database was generated and pattern matching was performed with buildings of various shapes. The results show that efficiency of the proposed method in terms of reliability of matching and database structure. In addition, flexibility in the search was achieved by altering conditions for the pattern matching. Furthermore, topology graph representation could be used as scale and rotation invariant shape descriptor.
