Three phase hollow fiber-liquid phase microextraction (HF-LPME), which is faster, simpler and uses a more environmentally friendly sample-preparation technique, was developed for the analysis of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) in human urine. For the effective simultaneous extraction/concentration of NSAIDs by three phase HF-LPME, parameters (such as extraction organic solvent, pH of donor/acceptor phase, stirring speed, salting-out effect, sample temperature, and extraction time) which influence the extraction efficiency were optimized. NSAIDs were extracted and concentrated from 4 mL of aqueous solution at pH 3 (donor phase) into dihexyl ether immobilized in the wall pores of a porous hollow fiber, and then extracted into the acceptor phase at pH 13 located in the lumen of the hollow fiber. After the extraction, 5 ${\mu}L$ of the acceptor phase was directly injected into the HPLC/UV system. Simultaneous chromatographic separation of seven NSAIDs was achieved on an Eclipse XDB-C18 (4.6 mm i.d. ${\times}$ 150 mm length, 5 ${\mu}m$ particle size) column using isocratic elution with 0.1% formic acid and methanol (30:70) at a HPLC-UV/Vis system. Under optimized conditions (extraction solvent, dihexyl ether; $pH_{donor}$, 3; $pH_{acceptor}$, 13; stirring speed, 1500 rpm; NaCl salt, 10%; sample temperature, $60^{\circ}C$; and extraction time, 45 min), enrichment factors (EF) were between 59 and 260. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) in the spiked urine matrix were in the concentration range of 5-15 ng/mL and 15-45 ng/mL, respectively. The relative recovery and precision obtained were between 58 and 136% and below 15.7% RSD, respectively. The calibration curve was linear within the range of 0.015-0.96 ng/mL with the square of the correlation coefficient being more than 0.997. The established method can be used to analyse of NSAIDs of low concentration (ng/mL) in urine.
Liquid chromatographic methods with UV and fluorescence detection have been used to determine the levels of (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin, (-)-epicatechin gallate, and (-)-epigallocatechin gallate in Korean green tea infusions. The extracts of Korean green tea leaves or powders in water at various temperatures (100 ${^{\circ}C}$, 80 ${^{\circ}C}$, 60 ${^{\circ}C}$) and time, were washed with chloroform and re-extracted to ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate phase was dried and re-dissolved in methanol and analyzed. Five catechin compounds were separated by gradient elution. The flavonoids were found decomposed on prolonged extraction, thus exhaustive extraction by a Soxhlet apparatus was found useless for green tea. Some unknown components were found in the extracts at 100 ${^{\circ}C}$. When the green tea was filtered and re-extracted with new fresh water, still some flavonoids were extracted. However, the contents of flavonoids in the third extract were found negligible. The flavonoid extraction rate of green tea powders was higher than that of green tea leaves, but flavonoid decomposition of green tea powders was also faster than that of green tea leaves. The traditional way of drinking green tea was found appropriate in view of flavonoids intake.
Objectives: To evaluate the accuracy of the Root ZX in teeth with simulated root perforation in the presence of gel or liquid type endodontic irrigants, such as saline, 5.25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), 2% chlorhexidine liquid, 2% chlorhexidine gel, and RC-Prep, and also to determine the electrical conductivities of these endodontic irrigants. Materials and Methods: A root perforation was simulated on twenty freshly extracted teeth by means of a small perforation made on the proximal surface of the root at 4 mm from the anatomic apex. Root ZX was used to locate root perforation and measure the electronic working lengths. The results obtained were compared with the actual working length (AWL) and the actual location of perforations (AP), allowing tolerances of 0.5 or 1.0 mm. Measurements within these limits were considered as acceptable. Chi-square test or the Fisher's exact test was used to evaluate significance. Electrical conductivities of each irrigant were also measured with an electrical conductivity tester. Results: The accuracies of the Root ZX in perforated teeth were significantly different between liquid types (saline, NaOCl) and gel types (chlorhexidine gel, RC-Prep). The accuracies of electronic working lengths in perforated teeth were higher in gel types than in liquid types. The accuracy in locating root perforation was higher in liquid types than gel types. 5.25% NaOCl had the highest electrical conductivity, whereas 2% chlorhexidine gel and RC-Prep gel had the lowest electrical conductivities among the five irrigants. Conclusions: Different canal irrigants with different electrical conductivities may affect the accuracy of the Root ZX in perforated teeth.

It is necessary to find characteristic phenomena related with permittivity differences for classification of liquid characteristics. If these phenomena can be remotely detected and characteristics can be extracted, it will be very useful in finding flammable liquid materials and classifying substances of these liquids. Therefore, in this paper, reflection and transmitted signals were analyzed from three receiving antennas with one transmitting antenna using wideband electromagnetic wave signals. Frequency response characteristics of reflected or transmitted signals are different according to characteristics of liquid materials. However, conventional FFT methods cannot be applied due to problems of low resolution caused by data windowing distortion. To minimize these problems, eigenvector analysis method was applied for high resolution spectrum estimation of received signals. From these results, it can be shown that classification of many kinds of liquids are possible using peak frequencies and corresponding peak power values of spectrum estimates obtained from various liquid materials.
Liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) using various solvents was studied for recovery of acetic acid from a synthetic ethanol fermentation broth. The microbial fermentation of sugars presented in hydrolyzate gives rise to acetic acid as a byproduct. In order to obtain pure ethanol for use as a biofuel, fermentation broth should be subjected to acetic acid removal step and the recovered acetic acid can be put to industrial use. Herein, batch LLE experiments were carried out at $25^{\circ}C$ using a synthetic fermentation broth comprising $20.0g\;l^{-1}$ acetic acid and $5.0g\;l^{-1}$ ethanol. Ethyl acetate (EtOAc), tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO), tri-n-octylamine (TOA), and tri-n-alkylphosphine oxide (TAPO) were utilized as solvents, and the extraction potential of each solvent was evaluated by varying the organic phase-to-aqueous phase ratios as 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0. The highest acetic acid extraction yield was achieved with TAPO; however, the lowest ethanol-to-acetic acid extraction ratio was obtained using TOPO. In a single-stage batch extraction, 97.0 % and 92.4 % of acetic acid could be extracted using TAPO and TOPO when the ratio of organic-to-aqueous phases is 4:1 respectively. A higher solvent-to-feed ratio resulted in an increase in the ethanol-to-acetic acid ratio, which decreased both acetic acid purity and acetic acid extraction yield.
In this study, the optimum conditions for the LPME (liquid phase microextraction) were investigated to overcome several shortcomings of traditional liquid-liquid extraction method. The LPME, which is automatic and dynamic, was used to analyze the five pesticides (dementon-S-methyl, diazinon, parathion, fenitrothion, EPN) extracted from vegetable, and HP 6890 GC/NPD was used as an analytic instrument. It was possible to optimize the extraction condition using the automatic LPME. The optimum extraction rate was obtained at pH 3.0 and $100{\mu}g/mL$ of salt concentration and standard curve showed linearity with over $R^2=0.9921$ in the range of $0.2{\sim}10{\mu}g/g$. The relative standard deviations were 7.7%, 9.8%, 7.8%, 9.7% and 8.2% in the $5.0{\mu}g/g$ concentration of dementon-S-methyl, diazinon, parathion, fenitrothion and EPN, respectively. The acquired accuracies were satisfactory showing 12.7%, 7.8%, 10.4%, -6.7% and -0.7% for dementon-S-methyl, diazinon, parathion, fenitrothion and EPN respectively.
This study was carried out to monitor the level of 17 perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) present in liquid milk products sold on the Korean market. The liquid milk samples were extracted via liquid-liquid extraction and analyzed by LC-MS/MS. Excellent linearity over the calibration range (r2>0.99), and the limit of quantification of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) was 0.021 ng/g, and perfluorotetradecanoic acid (PFOA) was 0.057 ng/g. The accuracy was in the range of 72.5-115.3%, and the precision was under 20%. The preprocessing method for this experiment is considered appropriate for analysis of milk samples. The proposed analytical method was applied for the determination of PFCs in 98 liquid milk product samples, and the average content of total PFCs was 0.6576 ng/mL. PFOA and PFOS were detected in most samples, and their levels were less than 0.1 ng/mL, which was lower than those in other studies.

According to oriental clinic effect findings hitherto, Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang has been curative effects on chronic pharnygitis, acute tensillitis and angina. Auther tried to make clear the anti-inflammatory effect on rat paw which has become edema formation by $5\%$ of acetic acid/saline solution, and the analgesic effect on mouse thorough method of acetic acid because the medicine decoction of Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang, Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang, and the extracted powder of Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang are administered to rat and mouse. In present report, anti-inflammatory, analgesic effect of Pilyongbangkamkil-Tang, the extracted powder of the above prescription and Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang were estimated by the above test. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang (liquid), Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang and the extracted powder of Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang were tested for analgesic effects; Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang has the most effective analgesic function, then Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang, then the extracted powder, and I found that the t-test of those above prescriptions, in this order, should come to the result of voluntariness P〈0.001, P〈0.02, and P〈0.05 respectively. 2. Analgesic effects of pilyongbangkamgil-Tang and the extracted powder against the mouse pain induced by acetic acid have been strengthened by increase of double dosage and 4 fold dosage. 3. With Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang and Kamipilyongbangkamgil-Tang treated for rat, the increasing and the inhibitory rate of rat paw edema formation showed significantly statistical values, and the anti-inflammatory effect of the extracted powder of Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang is not supported so long than Pilyongbangkamgil-Tang. 4. The anti-inflammatory effect of Kamipilyongkamgil-Tang on the edema formed at the rat paw appeared significantly statistical value than the other sample.
The purpose of this study was to determine which fermented liquid fertilizer and application method yields the greatest amount of growth in red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum MILL.) plants. Additionally, we investigated which extraction methods produce the most effective fertilizer with the highest levels of mineral nutrients. The liquid fertilizers used in this study were made from fish, bone and fish meal, red pepper leaves, and oil cake, and were extracted using fermentation or water and boiled water. In tomato plants, foliar-application of fermented fertilizer is known to promote more growth than application by drenching, regardless of the number of treatments (once or twice). In our studies, however, drenching with fertilizer promoted growth more effectively than foliar-application in red pepper plants. Studies in both tomato and red pepper have shown that the number of treatments does not significantly alter growth. Liquid fertilizers produced by a fermentation-extraction method promoted greater levels of growth in tomato compared to red pepper, and growth was greater when fertilizers were applied 20 (rather than 40) days post-sowing. Red pepper and tomato shoot fresh weight were affected more by fermented fertilizers than plant height 20 days post-sowing. In red pepper, we observed increased shoot fresh weight when using fermented liquid fertilizers with concentrations of 0.1% or greater. Tomato shoot fresh weight increased similarly in response to fermented fertilizer treatments at the same concentration levels, except those derived from fish. Fermented fish liquid fertilizer was only effective in increasing tomato shoot fresh weight in concentrations exceeding 1%. Red pepper and tomato shoot fresh weight also increased more than plant height in our studies using fermentation liquid fertilizers at 40 days after sowing. Red pepper fresh weight increased with application of bone + fish meal, red pepper leaf, and oil cake fertilizers at concentrations of 0.1%, but not with fish liquid fertilizer in concentrations under 0.5%. Shoot fresh weight in tomato increased with all liquid fertilizers. Growth in red pepper and tomato may be influenced by different kinds of fertilizers due to combinations of macro- and micro-nutrients, or specific macro-nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphoric acid, and potassium. The mineral nutrients found in fish, bone and fish meal, red pepper leaves, and oil cake were not easily extracted by fermentation; thus, liquid fertilizers made using water and boiled water methods more effectively promoted growth in red pepper and tomato due to the larger amounts of macronutrients eluted.
