People estimation is important to provide IoT services. Most people counting technologies use camera or sensor data. However, the conventional technologies have the disadvantages of invasion of privacy and the need to install extra infrastructure. This paper proposes a method for estimating the number of people using a Wi-Fi AP. We use channel state information of Wi-Fi and analyze that using deep learning technology. It can be achieved by pre-installed Wi-Fi infrastructure that reduce cost for people estimation and privacy infringement. The proposed algorithm uses a k-binding data for pre-processing process and a 1D-CNN learning model. Two APs were installed to analyze the estimation results of six people. The result of the accurate number estimation was 64.8%, but the result of classifying the number of people into classes showed a high result of 84.5%. This algorithm is expected to be applicable to estimate the density of people in a small space.

This study examined how the emissions of pollutants affect the volume of traffic of freight vehicles in the transport sector. Multiple regression analysis was conducted considering several variables, including population by region, area of urban district, GDP, and the number of businesses by industry, e.g., agriculture, forestry, fishery, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail. These variables differ according to the characteristics of the freight vehicles (industry, by the ton). Therefore, it is essential to fully consider the volume of traffic of the specific freight vehicles by region before implementing relevant programs and policies, such as specific restrictions on the operation of vehicles. Some specific areas, in which logistic centers are located have heavy freight traffic, and these centers deserve extra consideration. Thus, in this study, different regional factors that affect the traffic of freight vehicles should be considered before determining the areas that will be subject to restrictions on the operation of these vehicles.

During the shift from gasoline vehicles to electric ones, auto parts manufacturing companies have realized the importance of improvement in the manufacturing process that does not require any layout changes nor extra investments, while maintaining their current production rate. Due to these reasons, for the auto part manufacturing company, I-company, this study has developed the simulation model of the PUSH system to conduct a process analysis in terms of production rate, WIP level, and logistics work's utilization rate. In addition, this study compares the PUSH system with other three manufacturing systems -KANBAN, DBR, and CONWIP- to compare the performance of these production systems, while satisfying the company's target production rate. With respect to lead-time, the simulation results show that the improvement of 77.90% for the KANBAN system, 40.39% for the CONWIP system, and 69.81% for the DBR system compared to the PUSH system. In addition, with respect to WIP level, the experimental results demonstrate that the improvement of 77.91% for the KANBAN system, 40.41% for the CONWIP system, and 69.82% for the DBR system compared to the PUSH system. Since the KANBAN system has the largest impacts on the reduction of the lead-time and WIP level compared to other production systems, this study recommends the KANBAN system as the proper manufacturing system of the target company. This study also shows that the proper size of moving units is four and the priority allocation of bottleneck process methods improves the target company's WIP and lead-time. Based on the results of this study, the adoption of the KANBAN system will significantly improve the production process of the target company in terms of lead-time and WIP level.
Background: The TightRope System is a device developed to provide extracapsular stabilization of the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture in canine stifles. I was then also employed for the extra-articular treatment of shoulder instability and for the intra-articular treatment of hip luxation in dogs and cats. Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility of the Mini-TightRope (mTR) System for the intraarticular treatment of CCL rupture in small breed dogs. Methods: A cadaveric canine model was used to record the steps of the surgical procedure. Five client owned dogs weighing from 8 to 10 kg and from 2 to 12 years of age were enrolled in the prospective study in which the mTR device was implanted in the stifle joint to replace the ruptured CCL. The dogs were graded using the Bologna Healing Stifle Injury Index (BHSII) and radiographic osteoarthritis (OA) scores. Results: The outcomes obtained at the time of the surgery (T0) and for the following 12 months (T12) showed an improvement in the functional parameters (BHSII from a median of 74.3 [range, 58.1-82.4] at T0 to 95.6 [range, 94.1-99.3] at T12]). The OA did not change in 3 dogs and increased by only 1 point in 2 dogs. Conclusions: In this preliminary study, the mTR was a successful and repeatable intraarticular surgical procedure for all dogs. Additional studies related to the clinical application of the technique in medium-large dogs should be encouraged.
Many existing transmission or communication towers designed several decades ago have undergone nonreversible performance degradation, making it hardly meet the additional requirements from upgrades in wind load design codes and extra services of electricity and communication. Therefore, a new-type non-destructive reinforcement method was proposed to reduce the on-site operation of drilling and welding for improving the quality and efficiency of reinforcement. Six built-up steel angle members were tested under compression to examine the reinforcement performance. Subsequently, the cyclic loading test was conducted on a pair of steel angle tower sub-structures to investigate the reinforcement effect, and a simplified prediction method was finally established for calculating the buckling bearing capacity of those new-type retrofitted built-up steel angles. The results indicates that: no apparent difference exists in the initial stiffness for the built-up specimens compared to the unreinforced steel angles; retrofitting the steel angles by single-bolt clamps can guarantee a relatively reasonable reinforcement effect and is suggested for the reduced additional weight and higher construction efficiency; for the substructure test, the latticed substructure retrofitted by the proposed reinforcement method significantly improves the lateral stiffness, the non-deformability and energy dissipation capacity; moreover, an apparent pinching behavior exists in the hysteretic loops, and there is no obvious yield plateau in the skeleton curves; finally, the accuracy validation result indicates that the proposed theoretical model achieves a reasonable agreement with the test results. Accordingly, this study can provide valuable references for the design and application of the non-destructive upgrading project of steel angle towers.
To research the dynamic response of the high-rise structure under the rocking ground motion, which we believed that the effect cannot be ignored, especially accompanied by vertical ground motion. Theoretical analysis and shaking table seismic simulation tests were used to study the response of a high-rise structure to excitation of a H-V-R ground motion that included horizontal, vertical, and rocking components. The use of a wavelet analysis filtering technique to extract the rocking component from data for the primary horizontal component in the first part, based on the principle of horizontal pendulum seismogram and the use of a wavelet analysis filtering technique. The dynamic equation of motion for a high-rise structure under H-V-R ground motion was developed in the second part, with extra P-△ effect due to ground rocking displacement was included in the external load excitation terms of the equation of motion, and the influence of the vertical component on the high-rise structure P-△ effect was also included. Shaking table tests were performed for H-V-R ground motion using a scale model of a high-rise TV tower structure in the third part, while the results of the shaking table tests and theoretical calculation were compared in the last part, and the following conclusions were made. The results of the shaking table test were consistent with the theoretical calculation results, which verified the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. The rocking component of ground motion significantly increased the displacement of the structure and caused an asymmetric displacement of the structure. Thus, the seismic design of an engineering structure should consider the additional P-△ effect due to the rocking component. Moreover, introducing the vertical component caused the geometric stiffness of the structure to change with time, and the influence of the rocking component on the structure was amplified due to this effect.

The purpose of this study is to propose an effective approach of making route decisions for the large-scale national project (i.e. the KTX Gyeongbu line between Daegu and Busan) by analyzing the conflicts that had occurred in the process of selecting the routes and stations. This study investigated policy making processes and conflicts during the construction of the KTX Gyeongbu line. The five contentious issues were 1) selecting the route between Daegu~Busan line, 2) developing a new route through Gyeongju areas, 3) making decisions of the first and second phases of construction, 4) setting up an extra station in Ulsan, and 5) conflicts of the Mt. Cheonseong route in Yangsan. In terms of analyzing these issues, the current study focuses on dealing with notions of technical, economical, legal, social, and practical rationality. Based on such analyses and implications, this study proposes a relatively reasonable model of line decision making especially for long-distance intercity routes. It also turns out that the large-scale project like the development of KTX Gyeongbu line should be conducted after receiving enough quantitative evaluation by reviewing relevant technical research studies and economic analyses, and having social agreements to prevent plausible conflicts.

Construction accidents are major problem in Turkish Construction industry and especially fatally rates are very high. Current legislative system on occupational safety in Turkey enforces employers to implement safety measures as well as safety management systems. However level of consciousness in the industry is unsatisfactory and safety are perceived as extra cost and unnecessary expenditure. Moreover, especially in small residential building constructions which have a big share in the industry and unfortunately safety measures to mitigate or abate construction risks do not exist. The study focuses on small residential building construction sites and in the scope of this study, thirty building projects are examined. For each building project, project cost including labour and material costs, service and consultancy costs for mechanical, electrical systems as well as architectural and structural services, costs for supervision and finally general expenditures for construction site facilities were calculated. On the other hand, occupational safety costs for personal protective equipment, collective protective measures, consultancy and training were determined. Work breakdown structures were established and for each work item firstly occupational risks were evaluated and furthermore according to risk scores safety measures to be implemented were defined and related costs were calculated. The study gave results for total safety cost on average, in terms of percentage of total project cost (3.73% of total project cost), safety cost per man-hour (0.40 USD) and safety cost in terms of unit construction area (11.60 USD per square meter). Since safety management is a part of whole project management process, study gives suggestions and techniques to calculate safety costs and implement safety measures as a part of project management service for professionals. Authors believe that suggested approach may easily developed by the usage of more data to establish a model for estimation not only for building construction sites but also for all construction projects.

Host's data during transmission. Data tempering results in loss of host's sensitive information, which includes number of VM, storage availability, and other information. In the distributed cloud environment, each server (computing server (CS)) configured with Local Resource Monitors (LRMs) which runs independently and performs Virtual Machine (VM) migrations to nearby servers. Approaches like predictive VM migration [21] [22] by each server considering nearby server's CPU usage, roatative decision making capacity [21] among the servers in distributed cloud environment has been proposed. This approaches usage underlying server's computing power for predicting own server's future resource utilization and nearby server's resource usage computation. It results in running VM and its running application to remain in waiting state for computing power. In order to reduce this, a decentralized decision making hybrid model for VM migration need to be proposed where servers in decentralized cloud receives, future resource usage by analytical computing system and takes decision for migrating VM to its neighbor servers. Host's in the decentralized cloud shares, their detail with peer servers after fixed interval, this results in chance to tempering messages that would be exchanged in between HC and CH. At the same time, it reduces chance of over utilization of peer servers, caused due to compromised host. This paper discusses, an roatative decisive (RD) approach for VM migration among peer computing servers (CS) in decentralized cloud environment, preserving confidentiality and integrity of the host's data. Experimental result shows that, the proposed predictive VM migration approach reduces extra VM migration caused due over utilization of identified servers and reduces number of active servers in greater extent, and ensures confidentiality and integrity of peer host's data.
Age at death estimation has always been a crucial yet challenging part of identification process in forensic field. The use of human skeletons have long been explored using the principle of macro and micro-architecture change in correlation with increasing age. The clavicle is recommended as the best candidate for accurate age estimation because of its accessibility, time to maturation and minimal effect from weight. Our study applies pre-trained convolutional neural network in order to achieve the most accurate and cost effective age estimation model using clavicular bone. The total of 988 clavicles of Thai population with known age and sex were radiographed using Kodak 9000 Extra-oral Imaging System. The radiographs then went through preprocessing protocol which include region of interest selection and quality assessment. Additional samples were generated using generative adversarial network. The total clavicular images used in this study were 3,999 which were then separated into training and test set, and the test set were subsequently categorized into 7 age groups. GoogLeNet was modified at two layers and fine tuned the parameters. The highest validation accuracy was 89.02% but the test set achieved only 30% accuracy. Our results show that the use of medial clavicular radiographs has a potential in the field of age at death estimation, thus, further study is recommended.
