Prediction of a Strong Effect of a Wek Magnetic Field on Diffusion Assisted Reactions in Non Equilibrium Conditions

  • The influence of magnetic fields on chemical processes has long been the subject of interest to researchers. For this time numerous investigations show that commonly the effect of a magnetic field on chemical reactions is insignificant with impact less than 10 percent. However, there are some papers that point to the observation of external magnetic field effect on chemical and biochemical systems actually having a significant impact on the reactions. Thus, of great interest is an active search for rather simple but realistic models, that are based on physically explicit assumptions and able to account for a strong effect of low magnetic fields. The present work theoretically deals with two models explaining how an applied weak magnetic field might influence the steady state of a non-equilibrium chemical system. It is assumed that external magnetic field can have effect on the rates of radical reactions occurring in a system. This, in turn, leads to bifurcation of the nonequilibrium stationary state and, thus, to a drastic change in the properties of chemical systems (temperature and reagent concentration).

  • Magnetization loss which is generated in HTS wire varies with the direction of the external magnetic field. This paper calculates the magnetization loss in an HTS transformer winding, where effects of the direction of magnetic field are considered. Kim model is used to consider the variation of the critical current with magnetic field and Brandt equation is used to calculate the loss by perpendicular magnetic field in transformer winding. Magnetization loss in an HTS transformer can be calculated more precisely with this paper.

Robust Electric Compass to Dynamic Magnetic Field Interference

  • The purpose of this research is to improve the reliability of automobile navigation system that utilizes the magnetic compass for localization. On account of its sensitiveness against the dynamic external interference of the magnetic field, the electronic compass itself is not accurate enough to be used for the localization compared to the gyro-compass. To overcome this shortcoming, in this research, a robust electronic compass is designed by using two magnetic compasses to cancel out the dynamic interferences efficiently. That is, a dual compass predictive calibration algorithm against irregular external interference of magnetic field is newly proposed and implemented in this paper. When the dynamic interference can be eliminated from the electronic compass, it becomes much accurate than the gyro-based system that suffers from the accumulative drift error. The reliability and performance of the designed system have been verified through the real driving experiments.

산소결핍 페롭스카이트 La1/3Sr2/3FeO2.96의 외부 자기장 하에서의 Mössbauer분광학적 연구 ([Mössbauer] Spectroscopic Study of La1/3Sr2/3FeO2.96 under the External Magnetic Field)

  • 다결정성 $La_{1/3}Sr_{2/3}FeO_{2.96}$에서의 전하불균형(charge disproportionation, CD) 전이의 근원에 대해 x선 회절법과 외부장 $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ 분광법을 이용하여 알아보았다. 전이온도 이상에서 외부 자기장에 의한 효과를 알아보기 위해 시료의 온도를 225K로 유지한 상태에서 6 T이하의 외부 자기장을 감마선의 진행방향에 대해 각각 수직과 수평으로 걸어주었다. 외부장이 없을 경우 평균원자가 $Fe^{3.6+}$에 기인하는 상자성 단일 흡수선이 나타났다. 자기장이 감마선의 방향과 평행할 경우, 면적비가 3:0:1:1:0:3인 자기적 Zeeman 스펙트럼이 중앙의 단일선(singlet)에 중첩되어 나타났다. 하지만 자기장이 감마선의 방향에 수직일 경우엔 중앙의 단일선은 사라지고 면적비 3:4:1:1:4:3인 6-선 스펙트럼만 나타나서 큰 이방성을 보였다. 외부장 하에서 단일 흡수선의 존재는 Fe 이온간의 전자의 재빠른 도약 현상으로 설명하였다. 외부장 하에서도 단일흡수선이 존재해, 자기장이 전자의 도약에 의한 전도메커니즘에 큰 영향을 주지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.

Magnetic levitation properties of single- and multi-grain YBCO bulk superconductors

  • Single-grain (c-normal or c-parallel) and multi-grain YBCO superconductors were prepared by a melt growth process with/without seeding. The magnetic levitation force and trapped magnetic field at liquid N2 temperature (77 K) of the YBCO superconductors were investigated. Samples for the levitation force measurement were zero-field cooled (ZFC) to 77 K, and samples for trapped field measurement were field-cooled (FC) using Nd magnets. As for the magnetic levitation force, the c-normal, single grain sample showed the largest value, whereas the multi-grain sample showed the lowest value. The trapped magnetic field of the c-normal and c-parallel single-grain samples was 4-5 times that of the multi-grain sample. In addition, as the external magnetic field (the number of magnets) increased, the both properties increased proportionally. These results were explained in terms of the orientation dependence of the levitation forces and the magnetic field trapping capability of the YBCO superconductor.

외부자계가 Bi-2223테이프의 통전손실에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of External Magnetic Field on Transport Loss in a Bi-2223 tape)

  • The transport loss of a Bi-2223 tape exposed to external magnetic field was investigated. The results show that the transport loss is independent on voltage lead arrangements in case the magnetization loss is compensated. An serious increase of the transport loss due to external magnetic fields is observed. The loss is described well by dynamic resistance loss in relatively high fields, but another mechanism than the dynamic resistance must be responsible for the increase of the loss in low fields. The transport loss is also dependent strongly on the orientation of the applied field.

자기장이 인가된 물팬텀 속의 전자선 선량분포 계산을 위한 EGS4 제어코드의 개발과 응용 (Development of the EGS4 Control Code to Calculate the Dose Distributions in a Strong Magnetic Field)

  • 본 연구에서는 팬텀에 인가된 강한 자기장에서 전자선에 대한 선량분포 계산을 위하여 EGS4 제어코드를 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 먼저 자기장에서 전자의 운동을 고찰하고 전자의 방향변화에 관한 수학적 결과를 EGS4 제어코드에 삽입하였다. 개발된 코드를 이용하여 6 MeV 전자선에 대하여 세로자기장 1-3T가 인가된 물팬텀 속에서 팬슬빔 전자들의 경로를 계산하였고 0.6-1 T가 인가된 물팬텀 속에서 직경 1cm의 조사면의 깊이선량율과 빔측면도를 계산하였다. 전자의 경로추적 계산결과 3 T의 자기장에서 전자들의 측면변위가 현저히 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 직경 1 cm 전자선에 대한 깊이선량율은 비정근처에서 자기장의 세기에 따라 미소한 증가를 보였으며, 반음영은 1 T에서 약 0.15 cm 감소가 나타났다. 선량분포의 변화에 관한 계산결과들은 모두 이론적 해석이 가능하였으며 이로부터 본 계산코드의 신뢰성을 평가할 수 있었다.

  • The output characteristics of thin film NiO/NiFe bilayered magnetoresistive device have been measured as a function of the direction of external magnetic field. Each layer was fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering method, and especially, the under layer, NiO, was fabricated under the in-situmagnetic field of about 1000Oe. The magnetoresistive devices were designed with the angle of 45degree between the direction of current of the device pattern and the induces magnetic field in the NiO film layer. The output of the devices had a good linearity when the devices were placed on the external magnetic field perpendicular to induced field direction and also 45 degree with the currenr path direction.

수직자장하에서 원관내 자성유체의 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flow Behavior of Magnetic Fluids in a Circular Pipe with a Vertical Magnetic Field)

  • In the present paper, we theoretically analyze the flow of magnetic fluids in a circular pipe with a vertical magnetic field and investigate the magnetic response by the external magnetic field. Theoretical study through the governing equation derived by Siliomis is carried out with numerical analysis by the Gauss Elimination Method. Using polar and magnetic effect parameters, theoretical equations and distributions for the velocity, vorticity, internal angular momentum and induced magnetization as the magnetic response are shown. Especially, in the region of strong magnetic field the specific property is appeared by finding a critical magnetic effect parameter for a polar effect parameter.
