It is well known that the hypocentral parameters inside the seismic array are well determined using HYPO71PC Programs. These programs, however, do not woik well for the non-evenly distribution of the seismic stations and/or the seismic events outside the seismic array. Furthermore it is very difficult to determine the exact locations of small events in North Korea since there is no seismological data exchange between South and North Koreas. We used the polarization method of the single-station with 3-component in addition to HYPO71PC(IASPEI's Program) in order to determine the source parameters of shallow-focus earthquakes outside the seismic array. First of all, we tested the interior events of the Uisung earthquake, April 14, 1991 and the Mt. Keyryong earthquakes, Feorirary 12, 1994, and two exterior events of W. Pyoungyang earthquake, Noventer 12, 1992, and Yellow Sea earthquake, July 26, 1994 to investigate the convergence and divergence to calculate the source parameters. We have found that the source determination outside the seismic array never converges to the exact location whereas the any events inside the array quickly converge to the exact location. The seismic events outside the array such as two events Vladivostok and East Sea, and the Yellow Sea event are more accurately determined using the polarization method. Estimating the source azimuth is carried out by estimating the polarization direction of the interesting phases and the range estimate is made frum the relative timing of different phases. The polarization method is verified by fmding that the estimates of azimuths and incidence angles by the polarization method are identical with those of the synthetic seismograms of the modellings using the generator program.
The purpose of the study was to identify the potential buyers' consciousness of single-family housing to provide useful data to help future single-family housing supplies in Ulsan. The study selected residents in Ulsan, who were over twenty and had an interest in living in a single-family housing. A survey was conducted from September 11, 2008 to September 25, 2008. The sample consisted of 364 persons who are currently live in Ulsan metropolitan area. The results are as following. About two thirds of the sample had the desire to live in a single-family housing. Moving into a single-family housing had financial preparation as the greatest issue. When moving into a single-family housing, the convenience of the residential district was the greatest consideration, whether or not it is a green environment, pollution level, etc. The potential buyers valued environment-friendly features and also had a very strong desire to own their own house. Many of them wanted to design and build their own single-family housing within a budget of 100-200 million KRW. In terms of the location, there was a higher preference for the riverside or lakeside rural areas outside the city. In terms of size, the preference was less than $330m^2$, which includes $99-132m^2$ for residential. When considering a single-family housing the direction was the most important feature, along with eco-friendly and safer materials and equipments. When building the single-family housing the potential buyers considered the community spaces first with a preference for having three bedrooms and two bathrooms. For the exterior, they wanted a unique shape of roof and there were high preferences for brown and beige colors. In terms of housing complexes, the potential buyers preferred individual unit types over complexes. If they preferred housing complexes, they wanted the cluster form complex with about 10-30 units. The complex also required a park-like setting with a guard system, which shows that convenience and safety were the most important features. In terms of complex management, they considered environmental management as the most important feature. The potential buyers were willing to pay belw 200,000 KRW, which showed their desire to minimize financial burdens.

Recently, the maintenance concept of infrastructure has been changed from the stability management of the structure determined by the safety inspection of the existing facilities to the asset management related to evaluating and managing the performance of the facilities. For management of the property of the facilities, it is necessary to efficiently classify their information for the maintenance and service level of the facilities and to manage them. In the case of power plant facility, especially, it is a complex structure, which is constructed in a various component and detail. In this study, therefore, the components of power plant facility were classified into facilities, spaces, parts, and elements considering the type of integrated construction classification system in Korea. To reflect the deterioration rate of the facility in accordance with environmental conditions such as airborne salt and humidity etc., it was classified by adding direction, interior, and exterior condition of each component not to be considered in the existing classification system for its effective and systematic maintenance, since it is generally located in the coastal area due to the operation of the power generation structure. The classification system developed in this study can be used as fundamental data for development of the computer system for asset management of power plant facility.

Ceramic tiles, which are widely used as interior and exterior materials for construction, have recently been required to have pollution prevention function. In order to remove contaminants, many researches of ceramic tiles with hydrophilic surface property through $TiO_2$ coating and hydrophobic surface property by improving the flow of water droplets have been proceeded. Expecially, it is very important to develop a surface glaze having hydrophobicity through a sintering process above $1000^{\circ}C$ without an additional coating process and the degradation of mechanical properties. In this study, surface glaze with copper powder was applied to manufacture of ceramic tile. Contact angle of ceramic tile according to thickness of surface glaze layer was investigated after the conventional sintering process. The contact angle of the ceramic tile surface without the copper powder was shown to be $25.3^{\circ}$, which is close to hydrophilic surface. However, the contact angle was increased up to $109.8^{\circ}$ when the thickness of surface glaze with the copper powder was $150{\mu}m$. The excellent hydrophobic property of the surface glaze with copper powder was resulted from the cellular structure of copper particles on the glaze surface. In addition, the mechanical properties of the developed hydrophobic ceramic tiles such as bending strength, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and frost resistance were well maintained and meet the criteria of 'KS L 1001 Ceramic tile'.
Objectives : In this paper, We pointed out medico-historical meaning of Hyang'yak Kugŭppang (鄕藥救急方, Medical Recipes of Local Botanicals for Emergency Use), a medical book of Koryŏ Dynasty, breaking from the existing analysis view based on Hyang'yak (鄕藥), local herbs produced in Korean Peninsula. Methods : For that purpose, we analyzed the clinical characteristics of the diseases and symptoms, strategies of treatment, therapeutic tools, drug formulations, composition of herbal formulas in Hyang'yak Kugŭppang. Results : The following characteristics were confirmed in Hyang'yak Kugŭppang. First, it contained a way to cope with the diseases and symptoms that do not have to check the exterior, interior, cold, and heat. Also, it introduced basic strategies such as reducing, facilitating flow, draining downward, warming, or tonifying, etc. It mainly included herbal medicine as the therapeutic tools, and introduced formulas composed by single herb than complex recipes. It suggested external applications more than internal use, and proposed formulations in the form of decoctions or powders, etc. The herbs of formulas were used by experience without explanations of nature & taste, efficacy of each herbs. Conclusions : Hyang'yak Kugŭppang is a book of medical recipes for emergency use that has been distributed to help gentries, even if they do not have professional medical knowledge, to instantly cope with diseases and symptoms with medicines that are easy to obtain. Previous researches has analyzed the value of Hyang'yak Kugŭppang as a collection of information of hyang'yak, and used it as a historical basis of the uniqueness of Korean medicine. Since Hyang'yak Kugŭppang is not a book specialized for herbs, but rather a clinical medical book that introduces recipes for specific symptoms of diseases, if we pay attention to the clinical characteristics of Hyang'yak Kugŭppang, it will provide an opportunity to describe Koryŏ or Korean medicine in a new way.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of elderly housing in the unit "Family Life & Housing" in Technology & Home Economics 9th grade textbooks. The results of this study are as follows: First, the contents, illustrations, pictures, floor-plans, graphs and tables in current unit "Family Life & Housing" varied widely among textbooks and some didn't even contain these informations. Illustrations and pictures which are suit to the content and which contain positive image of space and living should be chosen. Second, most of the contents about elderly housing were concentrated on the life cycle, three-generation housing and universal design, discussed in chapter 'utility of living space.' The unification of overlapped contents and description which don't have stereotype about elderly housing are needed. Not only the interior environment but also the exterior environment of the elders and life-support service for them should be included in the contents. Contents that reflect the change of future population composition and the ratio of three-generation household are required. The elderly housing floor plan needs to be diversified in quantity such as ones which reflect the Korean characteristics or ones which enable person an independent life.
Recently, the demand and supply on the Hanok have been increased. However, Hanok should be requested larger section of structural members because of excessive roof weight. So, structural skin-timber was manufactured to get a lightweight structural member. The structural skin-timber has exterior shape with larger section but a great volume of wood be removed. The reduced strength of structural skin-timber can be supplemented by hybridizaion of structural member. Japanese larch and Domestic pine were used to manufacture the structural skin-timber. Structural skin-timbers of rectangular shape and cylinder shape were manufactured and tested to evaluate the bending properties. The intended strength property could not be obtained because member had been suffered severe damage by precision deficiency of manufacturing machine. However, if precision of manufacturing machine would be improved and additional hybridizaion of structural skin-timber would be done, lightweight structural member will be able to be manufactured. Structural skin-timber did not showed statistical significancy between two species, so it is possible to use pine mixed with larch. Only MOR of larch showed statistical significancy between rectangular shape and cylinder shape, so it is necessary to use of those as separate things. However, the rest of skin-timber can be judged mixed using because of non statistical significancy. The objective of this study was the development of lightweight larger structural member with relatively strength. If hybrid member of skin-timber could be developed with wood-ceramics, lightweight steel and more, it can be possible to be used as a building material of Hanok, interior material, post & beam construction material and more.
Buried bronze objects are naturally corroded by their surrounding environment, which results in producing corrosion layers containing a number of constituents. Corrosion layers in stable condition protect the objects from the environment and also could provide information in terms of the objects. Characteristic and mechanism of the corrosion layers is likely to be valuable information for the conservation treatment. Many research have been conducted to figure out the formation and characteristic of the corrosion layers, but the more research should be conducted with various approach and analytical methods. Raman spectroscopy is one of the analytical methods to identify microcrystal as a compound while other analytical methods are used to identify element. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify the characteristic of corrosion layers of both excavated bronze objects through the raman spectroscopy. Two analytical methods, which are raman spectroscopy and SEM~EDS, were used to analyse four excavated bronze bowls. In the case of bronze bowls, malachite was found from the exterior corrosion layer and albite, quartz, and microcline, which are minerals, were also found. Cuprite was detected from the interior corrosion layers illustrating slightly different spectrum due to the combined compound. Lead segregation shows the form of PbO, $PbSO_4$ and $PbCO_3$ or it replaced as cuprite. In this study, small number of samples were analysed. This research is likely to be useful information to figure out not only the characteristic of the corrosion layers but also the authenticity of the artifacts if relevant research will be conducted. Therefore, further comprehensive researches on the various archaeological objects and corrosion environment condition are required in the future.
To apply the research results to the design and the construction of the high rise buildings, long-term behavior of reinforced concrete structure have been widely studied. However, shoring and reshoring at early ages have not been considered in the most of studies. The removal of forms and shores has been dealt with one construction sequence. i.e. the deformation occurred at the early age before the removal of shore has been neglected. In this paper, two-dimensional frame analysis program for long-term behavior of reinforced concrete was developed. In the developed program, construction sequence including the settlement and the removal of shores is considered to predict axial force variation due to forms ,shores, and time-dependent concrete stiffness. Analysis results show that the time-dependent axial force of shores is reduced, and the redistributed axial force of the interior column is greater than the value by elastic analysis and that of the exterior column is smaller. In order to demonstrate the validity of this program, the test frame was constructed in sequence of the placement of concrete, form removal, reshoring, shore removal, and the application of additional load. The proposed program predicts experimental results well.
