This study investigates the design, analysis, and implementation of the square-root extended Kalman filter by using an algorithm derived by combining the Potter or Carlson algorithm with the modified Gram-Schmidt algorithm, for sensorless speed control of a permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The sensitivity of the Kalman filter to round-off errors is a well-known problem. A possible way to address this limitation is by combining the square-root concept and Kalman filter that can improve the numerical performance and solve instability-related problems such as divergence. This paper presents the design and analysis of the implementation of such a square-root extended Kalman filter. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed filter, experimental results under several operating conditions, such as high and low speeds, reversal rotation, detuned parameters and load test, have been analyzed. Further, code sizes and operation times have been compared. Experimental results establish the performance of the proposed square-root extended Kalman filter-based estimation technique for sensorless speed control of a permanent-magnet synchronous motor.

In this paper, we propose a vision-based simultaneous localization and map-building (SLAM) algorithm. SLAM problem asks the location of mobile robot in the unknown environments. Therefore, this problem is one of the most important processes of mobile robots in the outdoor operation. To solve this problem, Extended Kalman filter (EKF) is widely used. However, this filter requires computational power (${\sim}O(N)$, N is the dimension of state vector). To reduce the computational complexity, we applied compressed extended Kalman filter (CEKF) to stereo image sequence. Moreover, because the mobile robots operate in the outdoor environments, we should estimate full d.o.f.s of mobile robot. To evaluate proposed SLAM algorithm, we performed the outdoor experiments. The experiment was performed by using new wheeled type mobile robot, Robhaz-6W. The performance results of CEKF SLAM are presented.
The unstable signature that is defined as frequency change with respect to the time or frequency modulation, is caused by the external loading variation in specific machinery component and Doppler shift etc. In this study, we analyze the generation mechanism of the unstable signature and apply the Extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithm for its detection. The performance of Extended Kalman Filter is examined for numerical and measured signals and the results show its validity for unstable signature detection.
This paper presents localization performance enhancement on GPS interfering spot for mobile robot. Localization system applied Extended Kalman filter algorithm that utilized Diffrential GPS and odometry, inertial sensors. In this paper, different noise covariance is applied to Extended Kalman Filter according to the GPS quality. Experiment results show that proposed localization system improve considerably localization performance of mobile robots.
This research supposed when a fictitious KSIV-I space launch vehicle launches from NARO space center. This compared and analyzed the results from real-time trajectory estimation using the Extended Kalman Filter and the Unscented Kalman Filter. A virtual trajectory and observation data are generated for the fictitious KSLV-I and three measurement radars. The performances of both Otters are compared for several simulations with small initial errors, large initial errors, 20Hz and 10Hz data rate. The results show that the Unscented Kalman Filter yields faster convergence and more accurate than the Extended Kalman Filter for the cases with larger initial error and slower data rate conditions.
Multi-Object trajectory modeling is a major challenge in MOT. CenterTrack tried to solve this problem with a Heatmap-based method that tracks the object center position. However, it showed limited performance when tracking objects with complex movements and nonlinearities. Considering the degradation factor of CenterTrack as the dynamic movement of pedestrians, we integrated the EKF into CenterTrack. To demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method, we applied the existing KF and UKF to CenterTrack and compared and evaluated it on various datasets. The experimental results confirmed that when EKF was integrated into CenterTrack, it achieved 73.7% MOTA, making it the most suitable filter for CenterTrack.

In this paper, a target tracking algorithm for tracking maneuvering vehicles is presented. The overall algorithm belongs to the category of an interacting multiple-model (IMM) algorithm used to detect multiple targets using fused information from multiple sensors. First, two kinematic models are derived: a constant velocity model for linear motions, and a constant-speed turn model for curvilinear motions. Fpr the constant-speed turn model, a nonlinear information filter is used in place of the extended Kalman filter. Being equivalent to the Kalman filter (KF) algebraically, the information filter is extended to N-sensor distributed dynamic systems. The model-matched filter used in multi-sensor environments takes the form of a federated nonlinear information filter. In multi-sensor environments, the information-based filter is easier to decentralize, initialize, and fuse than a KF-based filter. In this paper, the structural features and information sharing principle of the federated information filter are discussed. The performance of the suggested algorithm using a Monte Carlo simulation under the two patterns is evaluated.

This paper proposes robot localization using Fuzzy-Extended Kalman Filter algorithm of the mobile robots equipped with least sensors. In order to improve the accuracy of the localization, we usually add the sensors or equipment. However, it increases the simulation time and expenses. This paper solves this problem using only the odometer and ultrasonic sensors to get the localization with the Fuzzy-Extended Kalman Filter algorithm method. By inputting the robot's angular velocity, sensor data variation, and residual errors into the fuzzy algorithm, we get the sensor weight factor to decide the sensor's importance. The performance of the designed method shows by the simulation and Pioneer 3-DX mobile robot test in the indoor environment.
Using Observer, on the sensorless vector control system is a novel techniques for modern induction motor control. In this paper, a speed estimation algorithm of an induction motor using an extended kalman filter was proposed. Extended kalman filter can solve the problem, that have steady state error of estimated speed in flux and slip estimation method. The extended Kalman filter is employed to identify the speed of an induction motor and rotor flux based on the measured quantities such as stator current and DC link voltage. In order to confirming above proposal, computer simulation carried out using Matlab Simulink and show the effectiveness of the control drives for induction motor speed estimation.

An integrating position estimation algorithm has been developed for the navigation system of a free-ranging AGV system. The navigation system focused in this research work consists of redundant wheel encoders for the relative position measurement and a vision sensor for the absolute position measurement. A maximum likelihood method and an extended Kalman filter are implemented for enhancing the performance of the position estimator. The maximum likelihood estimator processes noisy, redundant wheel encoder measurements and yields efficient estimates for the AGV motion between each sampling interval. The extended Kalman filter fuses inharmonious positional data from the deadreckoner and the vision sensor and computes the optimal position estimate. The simulation results show that the proposed position estimator solves a generalized estimation problem for locating the vehicle accurately in space.
