  • This paper purports to find the characteristics of blue costumes as expressed in modern fashion. As such, we made an empirical analysis, using 436 works from 2006 S/S through 2010 F/W collections. Result indicated that modernness was emphasized by applying a minimum expressive technique to items of a simple form, and an image of simplicity was emphasized by placing focus on the rational color image of blue. Second, images of blue, such as trust, stability, and success were expressed as refined elegance through the combination of tight silhouettes, glossy and translucent materials, and indirect exposure. Third, natural image was expressed through natural silhouettes, soft or natural materials, gradation of various tones, and natural motif decorations as well as the color itself. Fourth, dynamic image was expressed by introducing fashion items, mostly worn by men only, to simple and tight forms or through the inspiration of a masculine fashion image. Fifth, abstinent image was expressed by using an image of religious apparel or symbols, covering up the body, minimizing details, and using a dark blue tone.

Currently, it is worldwide trends that the image design gets more attention in the field of movie, advertisement, exhibition, web, mobile, games and new media, etc. With the development of computer's new technologies, VFX methods for the visual content is dynamically changed. Such production methods combine the real scenary and CG(Computer Graphic) to compose realistic scenes, which cannot be pictured in the ways of ordinary filming. This methods overcome the difference between the real and virtual world, maximize the expressive ways in graphics and real space. Match moving is technique of accurate matching between real and virtual camera to provide realistic scene. In this paper we propose the novel technique for motion graphic image production. • Fashion companies are increasingly becoming aware of the importance of Digilog as a response strategy to an emotional stimulus, in order to win the hearts of consumers, because the Digilog provides a new type of emotional value. The features of Digilog found in modern fashion are characterized as follows: first, the "Fashion Image of Hybrid Nature" expresses nature in a new light or reinterprets existing expressions of nature, by using cutting-edge technology based on the psychological desire to return to, adapt with, and harmonize with nature. Second, the "Fashion Image of Nostalgia," which exhibits past forms of regressive fashion, is a fashion code that can be understood as a social trend. It has a digital exterior, with retro materials and old perfumes that reflect psychological comfort, as its expressive medium. Third, the "Lifestyle through the Technique of Interaction" is the sharing of information through consumer participation and delivery, or its interaction. Fourth, the "Fashion Design through the Technique of Customizing" allows consumers to actively participate in the design process. It reflects the consumer's desire to personally design fashion products. Fifth, the "Emotion Sharing through the Technique of Storytelling," which focuses on intangible values, is based on the sentiment of communication between the consumer and the brand, thereby satisfying the inner values as well as the aesthetic demands of consumers. This study confirmed that digital fashion, which uses digital technology based on analog sentiments, has opened up a new environment for fashion culture and has also widened the boundaries of fashion.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop contemporary Qipao design that emphasized creative feminine beauty with a unique sense beyond the concept of traditional Qipao design. This would be achieved using the expressive technique of human liberation from the oppression of the unconscious world a supported by surrealism. Using existing literature and previous research, surrealist expression technique used in fashion were investigated and analyzed. The results are as follows. First, the possibility of new and original design beyond existing surrealistic Qipao design was demonstrated through various realistic surrealism expression techniques, such as dépaysement, objet, and trompe-l'œil techniques. This occurred by exploring various unconscious world out of fixed ideas and through expression techniques of surrealistic fashion such as imagery of body parts, metaphorical expression of objects, and position deformation and illusion. Second, Qipao design that combined objet and attempted ordinary escape by combining isolated body parts (such as hands, eyes, and lips) within the composition combine with surrealistic expression enabled various and fun surrealistic fashion designs to emerge. Third, the metaphor of surreal lips and eyes (mainly used in works of this study) presented a unique and extraordinary combination of images in accessories and partial design that used the dépaysement technique. Thus, it was possible to expand surrealistic expression by including LED wire.

  • Conventionally, ornament has developed around linear thinking based on Euclidean geometry, and been explained as simple and lucid natural Euclidean geometrical phenomena. The modular arrangement with vertical, horizontal and diagonal grids has been an organizing principle of classical ornament, but in digital era ornament is found not to be explained only with the principle of traditional arrangement due to the seemingly irregular complex forms. In that sense, this study presents the concept of digital ornament and examined the backgrounds of ornament in digital age, that are complex system and non-Euclidean geometry. Accordingly, the present study takes an approach by dividing new formal types of ornament into algorithmic form, hybrid form and dynamic form to find out a principle of pattern organization. Lately, architects who actively use computer for their architectural designs take the algorithmic strategies in nature and create various and complex patterns by simple rules. The patterns are not the repetition of the same, but the production of singularities. In addition, hybrid form by morphing shows a topologically flexible evolutionary transformation, and is used to create in-between transitional shapes from the source to target. Finally, the patterns by the interaction between the system components which are corresponded to the embedded forces emerge from dynamic simulation of the natural environment. Rather than objects itself, focus is given to the process of generating forms, and the ornamental patterns as the revelation of such implicit order provide not just the formal beauty but also spatial pathways for lights and air, maximizing the effects of lights.

  • The film is an audiovisual art and conveys stories using various audiovisual techniques. Among the auditory elements, music has a wide variety of expressive techniques, a wide range of applications, and is sometimes used as a proprietary tool to convey stories. This study examines the musical expression technique for expressing the psychology of the character in the film by using the movie "Punch Drunk Love" as a subject of study. We study the use of music used to reveal meaning that does not appear on the screen in the film story flow, which is a tool to create the hidden meaning of the person's inner psychology and situation. This provides an example and perspective of the contrast and symbolic expression of character psychology in film music.
