  • Tracheal stenosis is relatively common complication after tracheal intubation or tracheostomy for a long time. We experienced 10 cases of tracheal stenosis with various causes, prolonged intubation or tracheostomy caused the tracheal stenosis in seven, one after advanced cancer of the lung, one after inhalation burn, and the other was palliative management for tracheal stenosis by Gianturco type tracheal stent. We tried to correct this stenosis applying three tracheal stent and one Montgomery T-tube as a palliative approach, but failed in two, one restenosis due to regrowing of granulation tissue with scarring or another metastatic spread of cancer to systemic organs after 3 months of placing the stent. Tracheal circumferential resection and end to end anastomosis were done in seven, and obtained one postoperative complication as subglottic stenosis was followed by Montgomery T-tube and reoperation later. With the brief review of references, we report the cases.

  • The saphenous vein has been the principal conduit for coronary bypass grafting from the beginning, circa 1970. This report briefly traces this history and concomitantly presents one surgeons experience and personal views on use of the vein graft. As such it is not exhaustive but meant to be practical with a modest number of references. The focus is that of providing guidance and perspective which may be at variance with that of others and recognizing that there may be many ways to accomplish the task at hand. Hopefully the surgeon in training/early career may find this instructive on the journey to surgical maturity.

  • Exfoliative dermatitis is a name of a group of symptoms which is characterized by red rash, itching and scale in almost whole body. The patients are suffered from hypoalbuminemia, general weakness and fever sign in addition to characteristic skin lesions. So in the treatment of this disease, adequate symptomatic treatment is important with adequate topical skin management. We experienced a 67 year old Korean male patient diagnosed as exfoliative dermatitis based on clinical symptoms. We concluded that the symptoms of this patient are Sun-symptoms(癬症) and gave him Sunpunghwangi-san(宣風換肌散) and Chungdae-san(靑黛散). After taking herbal medicine, clinical improvement was noticed. Based on this experience, both internal and external use of oriental medicine have a good effect on exfoliative dermatitis.

  • The 4p deletion syndrome, also known as Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, is a well-known genetic disorder caused by a partial deletion of the short arm of chromosome 4. The great variability in the extent of the 4p deletion and the possible contribution of additional genetic rearrangements leads to a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. Herein, we present our experience with eight cases of 4p deletion syndrome, ascertained prenatally between 1998 and 2016 at our hospital.

  • Liposarcoma is one of the most common malignancies originating from human soft tissue. Because most of liposarcoma occur in the lower extremities or retroperitoneum, there are few reports about liposarcoma of head and neck region, including larynx and pharynx. Histologically, there are four types of liposarcoma, and prognosis and recurrence rate are different according to histologic subtype. Wide excision is the treatment of choice and liposarcoma hardly respond to primary radiotherapy. A 56-year-old man presented with voice change and foreign body sensation in laryngopharynx. Hypopharyngeal liposarcoma was diagnosed by surgical biopsy and performed totallaryngopharyngoesophagectomy and gastric pull-up. Here we report our experience on this case with review of literature.

  • Concrete repair and reinforcement is a complex process, presenting unique challenges very different from those experience in the field of construction. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern and mechanism of deteriorations in irrigation and drainage structure. Damage and deteriorated structures are classified with several types. This provides a survey of crack repair methods, including a summary of the procedures that are being used. It is systematically evaluated with the disintegration on irrigation & drainage structure; drainage sluice gate, pumping station, drainage pumping station. Following the evaluation of the irrigation & drainage structure, a suitable repair and reinforcing procedure can be selected based on this report

  • Rosai-Dorfman Disease[RDD] is an idiopathic histiocytic proliferation affecting lymph nodes. Although extranodal involvement has been reported in the skin, orbit, upper respiratory tract, of testes, the isolated intracranical involvement without associated lymphadenopathy is extremely rare. We report our experience with 1 case of an isolated intracranial RDD without associated lymphadenopathy and any other organ involvement. A 61-year-old male presented with an isolated well-circumscribed brain mass in the posterior fossa, preoperatively thought to be a meningioma. But histology and Immunohistochemistry confirmed that the lesion was RDD.

Methods: Participants were 148 middle-aged women living in the capital area. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires which were constructed to include leisure activity characteristics, social support and Brodman's CMI. Data were analyzed using t-test, and ANOVA, with SPSS/WIN 14.0. Results: Social support was different depending on leisure type, leisure partner, length of participation in present activity, regularity, and motivation to start activity. Health status was different depending on the length of participation in present activity, and regularity. Conclusion: Because social support and health status depend on characteristics of leisure activity, further study in nursing one how to resolve the physical, psychological, social and health problems that middle-aged women might experience through various leisure activities.

  • Kimura's disease is an idiopathic chronic condition, associated with a high-titer of IgE and peripheral eosinophilia. It frequently presents as a solitary or multiple lesions in the head and neck area. During the perioperative period, anesthesiologists should understand the anatomical structures of the patient who has Kimura's disease involvement of the head and neck, especially the airway. It is important to pay attention to the occurrence of signs and symptoms of acute allergic reactions related to a high-titer of IgE and eosinophilia. We report our experience with anesthetic management in an 18-year-old patient with multiple neck masses due to Kimura's disease.
