Lateral epicondylitis with rupture of the radial collateral ligament of the elbow has not been reported in the literature. We report on a case of a recreational golfer who had not received steroid injection and had no trauma history. The patient was treated with open surgical repair. At 2 years follow-up, satisfactory clinical and radiological outcomes were observed with return to pre-injury level. The authors report this case and review the literature.

Endomyocardial fibrosis(EMF) is an unusual type of cardiomyopathy characterized by a restriction to the ventricular filling and an obliteration of the inflow portion in the ventricular cavity by a fibrosis and often by a thrombus formation. The atrioventricular valve may be involved, resulting in an atrioventricular valvular regurgitation. The only known effective treatments are endomyocardiectomy and replacement of regurgitant AV valves. We report the experience of a case of EMF which required surgical management.

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor(MPNST, primary malignant schwannoma) within the spinal canal is very rare. The prognosis of MPNST in the spinal canal is very poor due to the tendency of perineural spread, dissemination throughout subarachnoid space and local recurrance. This report details the authors' experience on the case of primary malignant spinal schwannoma with review of the literatures and other studies.

Objective : The purpose of this paper is to report the improvement of a patient who had a postpartum disease treated with herb medication based on Shanghanlun provisions. Methods : According to 'Disease Pattern Identification Diagnostic System based on Shanghanlun Provisions', the patient was diagnosed with TaeYang-byung, number 12 provision, and was administered herb medication for 4 months. Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) was used to estimate the patient's status. Results : The VAS changed 10 to 0. These results suggest that cold pain and weakness in the legs have improved. Conclusions : The patient had an experience of miscarriage 3 times and finally got a baby but with postpartum disease. She treated with the herb medication for 4 months and the outcome was found effective and economical due to the diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions.

We report a case of hearing rehabilitation following combined cochlear implantation and ossiculoplasty. A 71-year-old patient visited the clinic for right-sided mixed hearing loss. We targeted neural and conductive components, performing two different operations simultaneously. At two months post-operative, the patient showed satisfactory results with respect to hearing threshold and speech comprehension. Our experience suggests that careful evaluation of patients and consideration of the diverse array of available treatment strategies can be used to provide personalized rehabilitation with maximal effectiveness. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to take such an integrated approach to treat hearing impairment and is thus likely to have clinical importance for otologists.

Other than gunshot injuries, sacral penetrating injuries with a foreign body exiting to the other side are extremely rare. We encountered a case of sacral injury in which a long metallic pipe penetrated from the anus into the lower back of a patient. Since the pelvis contains various organs, management of a penetrating injury requires multidisciplinary treatment involving several medical specialties. Due to the infrequency of this type of injury, there are no definitive guidelines for effective management. We described our experience surgically treating a sacral penetrating injury and conducted a literature review. On this basis, we suggest a surgical strategy for treating this type of injury.

Blunt intrathoracic tracheal injuries are rare, even among blunt chest trauma patients. An early diagnosis based on a high index of suspicion allows for timely surgical management of potentially fatal airway trauma, thereby improving overall outcomes. Diagnosing these injuries can be difficult due to their nonspecific clinical features and the occasional difficulty in radiologic diagnosis. If a patient exhibits respiratory compromise with difficult ventilation and poor lung expansion, despite the insertion and management of an intercostal drain following high-energy blunt trauma, there should be a heightened suspicion of potential airway trauma. The aim of primary repair is to restore airway integrity and to minimize the loss of pulmonary parenchyma function. This case report discusses the rare clinical presentation of a patient with blunt trauma to the intrathoracic airway, the surgical management thereof, and his overall outcome. Although blunt traumatic injuries of the trachea are extremely rare and often fatal, early surgical intervention can potentially reduce the risk of mortality.

Orbital floor fractures are commonly encountered, but the dislocation of the eyeball into the maxillary sinus is relatively rare. When it does occur, globe dislocation can have serious consequences, including vision loss, enucleation, and orbito-ocular deformity. Immediate surgical intervention is typically attempted when possible. However, severe comorbidities and poor general health can delay necessary surgery. In this report, we present the surgical outcomes of a 70-year-old woman who received delayed treatment for traumatic eyeball dislocation into the maxillary sinus due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage and hemopneumothorax. Additionally, we propose a treatment algorithm based on our clinical experience and a review of the literature.

Matching for the rhesus (Rh) blood group is currently not taken into account in the organ allocation system. However, in Rh-mismatched transplantation, the primary concern is the potential for RhD-negative recipients to develop sensitization and produce anti-D antibodies if they receive a transfusion of RhD-positive blood. It is estimated that over 80% of RhD-negative recipients may experience Rh allosensitization when exposed to RhD-positive blood, although this occurrence is less common in recipients of solid organs. In theory, RhD-negative recipients who receive organs from RhD-positive donors are at risk of alloimmunization and the production of anti-D antibodies, which could complicate future blood product transfusions. However, our understanding of the impact of donor-recipient Rh mismatch on transplant outcomes, particularly in heart transplantation, is limited. We report a case of successful Rh-mismatched heart transplantation, which was effectively managed through the use of preoperative RhD immunoglobulin and plasmapheresis.
