Rational choice theory holds that the alternative with largest expected utility in the choice set should always be chosen. However, it is often observed that an alternative with the largest expected utility is not always chosen while the choice task itself being avoided. Such a choice phenomenon cannot be explained by the traditional expected utility maximization principle. The current study posits shows that such a phenomenon can be attributed to the gap between the expected perceived gain (or loss) and the expected perceived value. This study mathematically analyses the relationship between the expectation of an alternative's gains or losses over the reference point and its expected value, when the perceived gains or losses follow continuous probability distributions. The proposed expected value (EV) function can explain the effects of loss aversion and uncertainty on the evaluation of an alternative based on the prospect theory value function. The proposed function reveals why the expected gain of an alternative should exceed some positive threshold in order for the alternative to be chosen. The model also explains why none of the two equally or similarly attractive options is chosen when they are presented together, but either of them is chosen when presented alone. The EV function and EG-EV curve can extract and visualize the core tenets of the prospect theory more clearly than the value function itself.
In this study, we examined how the psychological safety influence expected image outcomes(image gain, image risk) and how expected image outcomes impact one's involvement in creative work. And, we examined the relationship between creative work involvement and job performance. We also investigated mediating role of expected image outcomes between psychological safety and creative work involvement. Survey data was collected from 271 employees working in a South Korea. The results of structural equation modeling using LISREL 8.50 indicate that psychological safety was positively related to expected image gain, but not significantly related to expected image risk. The result also expected image gain was positively related to creative work involvement, contrary to prediction of hypothesis 2-2, expected image risk was positively associated with creative work involvement. In addition, creative work involvement has positive effect on job performance. Finally, the relationship of expected image outcomes about psychological safety and creative work involvement was mediated by expected image gain partially. We extended the literature and contributed better understanding of the creativity research by answering calls for further research on involvement in creative work rather then the outcome of the creative process.

Up to the present, the operating time has been studied on only a single aircraft attacking a single target or multiple targets under enemy threats. This study is to determine optimal operating time and appropriate size of aircrafts attacking multiple targets. Measures of mission effectiveness is defined through derivation of the probability of the various events associated with operating. By using these measures, the expected benefit of operating and the expected cost of operating are generated as a function of time. To formulate operating time determination model, the expected gain of operating is defined as the difference between the expected benefit of operating and the expected cost of operating. The model can be used to determine optimal operating time which maximizes the expected gain of operating, and can be used as the basis for determining the appropriate size of aircrafts.

This study investigated the tax compliance applying framing effect, with the influence of detection rates, client advocacy, risk seeking tendency on the amount of income declared. Questionaires were filled in by CFA in Busan. Questionaires involve three cases (newly founded company, loss-expected company, gain-expected company). Respondents declared least in newly founded company, next loss-expected company, to gain-expected company. Respondents declared more as detection rates rose. As client advocacy increases, newly founded company and loss-expected company declare less, while gain-expected company declare more. As risk seeking tendency increases, newly founded company and loss-expected company declare less, but gain-expected company. Finally the interaction effect between client advocacy and risk seeking tendency is supported.
The indirect-contact ECG (IDC-ECG) was introduced by a prior study for daily non-intrusive measurements. To improve the signal quality and to extend the application area of IDC-ECG, close study of the frequency characteristics of the IDC-ECG is necessary. In this study, the frequency response of the active electrode for several sample clothes was measured under conditions of actual IDC-ECG measurement with human body. Higher gain in low frequency range than expected by prior study was observed. In addition to it, wide variation in gain according to the cloth type in the low frequency range was observed. Variation in gain caused by moisture variation in the clothes was also observed. This study shows that the parallel R-C connection is proper for electrode model and the resistive factor is influenced by moisture in the clothes. This study is the first that provides the frequency response of the electrode in the actual indirect-contact ECG measurement and it is expected that the results will be helpful to improve the indirect-contact ECG method.

The broad sense heritability of height of clonal means was estimated from 18 clones out of 25 clones growing at four different sites, and it showed considerably high heritability of $H^2_{CM}=0.883$. Therefore if we select the best one clone(5% selection), the genetic gain of 35.3% which is equal to 1.02m in height is expected to attain. If we select the best two clones(10% selection), the genetic gain will be 25.6% which is equal to 0.74m in height. Because the trees are only 4-year-old, it is expected to show higher genetic gain than the current gain when the trees reach to the age of final selection.

In this paper, a high-gain antenna for satellite communication is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of septum polarizer, circular waveguide, Hat-feed structure that has a high-gain and efficiency. Especially, it is smaller and lighter than the conventional satellite communication antennas by applying a hat-feed structure. The measured results show that received gain of proposed antenna is better than 29.9 dBi and transmitted gain of proposed antenna is better than 30.5 dBi. The co-polarized and cross-polarized radiation patterns comply with ITU-RR Ap.8 and ITU-R S.731-1 that are recommended by International Telecommunication Union. The designed high-gain antenna for satellite communication is expected to be used for OTM and airborne satellite systems.
PI controllers are one of the most widely used controllers in industrial control systems due to their simple algorithms and stability. The parameters Kp and Ki determine the performance of the system response. The response is expected to improve by increasing the gain of the PI controller. However, too large a gain will accelerate the speed response and cause vibrations, which is not what is expected. This paper proposes a way to suppress vibrations by detecting the vibration frequency and extracting the vibration signal as a compensation to the speed feedback. Additionally, in order to improve its disturbance rejection ability, a low-order disturbance observer is proposed. This paper also explains the operation principle of the proposed method by analyzing the transfer function and it describes the design of the controller parameters in detail. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the merits of the proposed method. These results also show the good performance of the proposed method. It has a rapid response and suppresses vibrations.

To overcome considerable path loss in millimeter-wave propagation, high-gain directional beamforming is considered to be a key enabling technology for outdoor 5G mobile networks. Associated with beamforming, this paper investigates propagation power loss characteristics in two aspects. The first is beamwidth effects. Owing to the multipath receiving nature of mobile environments, it is expected that a narrower beamwidth antenna will capture fewer multipath signals, while increasing directivity gain. If we normalize the directivity gain, this narrow-beamwidth reception incurs an additional power loss compared to omnidirectional-antenna power reception. With measurement data collected in an urban area at 28 GHz and 38 GHz, we illustrate the amount of these additional propagation losses as a function of the half-power beamwidth. Secondly, we investigate power losses due to steering beam misalignment, as well as the measurement data. The results show that a small angle misalignment can cause a large power loss. Considering that most standard documents provide omnidirectional antenna path loss characteristics, these results are expected to contribute to mmWave mobile system designs.
There is a trend to replace TWTA of SSPA in S-Band uplink application for satellite operation. KARI developed l20W full S-Band SSPA system in early 2004. This paper covers SSPA system design and its test results. Through tests, nominal gain of 57dB, gain stability of +/-1dB over frequency, and gain stability of +/-0.5dB over temperature were shown. IMD value of -16.5dBc, -19dBc were revealed in PI and P3 output operations. With meeting specifications, l20W SSPA is expected to be used in operational S-Band uplink application.
