  • The SERVQUAL scale is based on the gap theory, which indicates the difference between consumers' expectations and their actual performance. In SERVQUAL scale, the expectations are defined as a "feasible ideal point"(ex, An Excellent hospital has up-to-date equipment). But empirical research identified important problems concerning the conceptual definitions of expectations. They suggests the usage of "desired expectations". Desired expectations are defined as the level at which the consumer predict the service that the organization they visited will perform(ex, $\bigcirc\bigcirc$ hospital has up-to-date equipment). The purpose of this study was to compare the feasible ideal point expectations with desired expectations in assessment of consumer expectations using SERVQUAL scale. We developed two types of questionnaires : (1) to measure feasible ideal point expectations, (2) to measure desired expections. Questionnaire were distributed to ambulatory patients who used the medical service. Total 329 patients participated the hosiptal satisfaction questionnaire(167 for feasible ideal point expectations, 162 for desired expectations). The major finding is as follows: (1) the SERVQUAL scale which was computed by the feasible ideal point showed the higher explanatory power in consumer satisfaction ($R^2$=0.26) than the other identified alternatives(desired expectation, $R^2$=0.11) The results of a study suggests that the feasible ideal point were more conceptually suitable to assess of consumer satisfaction using SERVQUAL scale.SERVQUAL scale.

  • Purpose : The expectations are defined as desired expectations in initial SERVQUAL scale(1985, 1988), but in modified SERVQUAL scale(1991), are defined as a feasible ideal point expectations. In assessment of nursing service quality by SERVQUAL scale, the definitions of expectations is important problem. The purpose of this study was to compare the feasible ideal point expectations with the desired expectations in assessment of nursing service quality using SERVQUAL scale. Methods : The subjects were 256 inpatients at 4 general hospitals in Jeju-do(123 for feasible ideal point and 133 for desired). The data were collected by two types of self-reporting questionnaires to measure the feasible ideal point and desired expectations. For data analysis, t-test, multiple regression, and comparative analysis of multiple Rs via Fishers Z transformation. Results : Compared with the SERVQUAL scores, the feasible ideal point expectations better explained the variations of the overall consumer satisfaction($R^2$=O.33) than the desired($R^2$=O.25). Conclusion : The feasible ideal point expectations were more suitable to the assessment of nursing service quality using SERVQUAL scale. It will be need to explore the conceptual definitions of expectations using SERVQUAL scale in different settings. Also, further study needs to be conducted to compare alternative service quality measurement scales.

  • This paper estimates the expectation-augmented Phillips curve, which explains inflation dynamics, in Korea. The phenomenon of low inflation in Korea has been going on for quite some time, in particular since 2012. During the Covid-19 crisis, due to low inflation expectations the operation of monetary policy was limited as the base rate approached the zero lower bound. The main objective of this paper is to estimate where and how tightly inflation expectations are anchored. It was found that long-term inflation expectations fell to around 1%, falling short of the inflation target, and that inflation expectations are strongly anchored to long-term expectations, which implies that the low inflation phenomenon is likely to extend into the future. The results also imply that even if inflation fluctuates due to temporary disturbances, it may converge to a level below the inflation target. The slight rebound of long-term expectations during the Covid-19 crisis suggests that the aggressive monetary policy may have contributed to improving economic agents' beliefs about the commitment of monetary authorities to inflation stability. This may also help long-term expectations gradually to approach the inflation target.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to measure expectations regarding aging among community-residing older adults, identify sociodemographic characteristics associated with the level of expectations regarding aging, and examine whether expectations regarding aging were associated with health-promoting behaviors. Methods: Data was collected by using questionnaires of a short version of the Expectations Regarding Aging Survey (ERA-18) and Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II) from 99 older adults who resided in the community of Kyunggi, Daegu, and Kyungpook province. Results: More than 75% of the participants reported that it was an expected part of aging to have more aches and pains, to become depressed, and to become more forgetful. The mean score of expectations regarding aging was $23.15{\pm}17.80$ (possible range 0-100). The old-old, women, those with less education, less monthly allowance and poor health status had lower expectations regarding aging than other elderly. After controlling for sociodemographic characteristics and perceived health, expectations regarding aging were independently associated with health-promoting behaviors in older adults. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that older Korean adults have low expectations regarding aging, and expectations regarding aging influence health-promoting behaviors.

Data consisted of questionnaires completed by the mothers. Findings were that (1) mothers had high expectations regarding self-regulatory behaviors about safety and independence but low expectations regarding family routines and personal property self-regulation, (2) their expectations increased with age of child, (3) the pattern of expectations did not change with age, and (4) expectations were higher with lower educational background of the mother.

  • A total of 378 $4^{th}$ and $5^{th}$ grade elementary school students (194 boys and 184 girls) participated in a study investigating the direct and indirect effects (through self-esteem and/or achievement motivation) of children's perceptions of parental expectations on school happiness. First, parental expectations did not have a direct effect on children's levels of school happiness. Second, parental expectations did not have an indirect effect on children's school happiness through self-esteem. Children who perceived higher levels of parental expectations showed higher levels of self-esteem, but the path from children's self-esteem to school happiness was not significant. Third, parental expectations had an indirect effect on children's levels of school happiness through achievement motivation. Children who perceived higher levels of parental expectations showed higher levels of achievement motivation, and children with higher levels of achievement motivation reported higher levels of school happiness. Finally, parental expectations indirectly influenced children's school happiness through self-esteem and achievement motivation. These findings suggest that both environmental and individual factors need to be considered together to more comprehensively explain children's levels of school happiness.

  • This study explores the ideal corporate social responsibility(CSR) that fashion consumers expect from a fashion firm in the identification of dimensions and levels of consumer expectations as well as examines the impact of CSR expectations on customer-base brand equity. The data of 315 adults were collected through a nationwide online survey. In order to analyze the data, this study employed Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), paired t-test, structural equation modeling(SEM), and descriptive analysis. This study first identified seven fashion CSR expectations (environmental, ethical, social, internal management, philanthropic, economic, and legal expectations). Internal management and environmental activities were highly expected from fashion firms; however, economic activity was low in expectations. Five models separately tested the relationship between CSR expectations and brand equity (trustworthiness, attachment, performance, social image, and value). Economic, environmental, internal management, social and ethical CSR expectations influenced customer-based brand equity; however, philanthropic and legal expectations did not influence any dimension of customer-based brand equity. This study provides a framework of ideal CSR from a consumer perspective and suggests that fashion marketers should focus on economic, environmental, internal management, social and ethical CSR activities to meet the expect Haitians of fashion consumers and build stronger brand equity.
