  • Objectives : We compared the clinical presentations of manic and depressive episodes and the treatment response among children and adolescents with bipolar disorder (BD) types I and II and BD not otherwise specified (NOS). Methods : The sample consisted of 66 patients, aged between 6 and 18 years, who were admitted for BD to a 20-bed child and adolescent psychiatric ward in a university hospital located in Seoul, Korea. Results : Patients with BD type I were more likely to have lower intelligence quotients and exhibit violent behaviors during manic episodes than patients with BD type II or BD NOS and to show better treatment responses during manic episodes than patients with BD NOS. Patients with BD NOS were more likely to have an irritable mood rather than a euphoric mood during the manic phase than patients with BD type I or II and to exhibit violent behaviors during the depressive phase and chronic course than patients with BD type II. Conclusion : Pediatric BD patients are heterogeneous with respect to their clinical characteristics. Implications for the usefulness of the current diagnostic subtype categories should be investigated in future studies.

  • Device characteristics of the Metal-Ferroclecric-Semiconductor FET(MFSFET) are simulated in this study. The field-dependent polarization model and the square-law FET model are employed in our simulation. C-V$_{G}$ curves generated from our MFSFET simulation exhibit the accumulation, the depletion and the inversion regions clearly. The capacitance, the subthreshold and the drain current characteristics as a function of gate bias exhibit the memory windows are 1 and 2 V, when the coercive voltages of ferroelectric are 0.5 and 1 V respectively. I$_{D}$-V$_{D}$ curves are composed of the triode and the saturation regions. The difference of saturation drain currents of the MFSFET device at the dual threshold voltages in I$_{D}$-V$_{D}$ curve is 1.5, 2.7, 4.0, and 5.7 ㎃, when the gate biases are 0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3V respectively. As the drain current is demonstrated after time delay, PLZT(10/30/70) thin film shows excellent reliability as well as the decrease of saturation current is about 18 % after 10 years. Our simulation model is expected to be very useful in the estimation of the behaviour of MFSFET devices.T devices.

  • Hypersonic vehicles exhibit distinct dynamic and static characteristics, such as unstable dynamics, strict altitude angle limitation, large control bandwidth, and unconventional system sensitivity. In this study, compromise relations between the dynamic features and static performances for hypersonic vehicles are investigated. A compromise optimal design for hypersonic vehicles is discussed. A parametric model for analyzing the dynamic and static characteristics is established, and then the optimal performance indices are provided according to the different design goals. A compromise optimization method to balance the dynamic and static characteristics is also discussed. The feasibility of this method for hypersonic vehicles is demonstrated.

  • The characteristics of flow in dividing regions are precise, therefore their classification is very important not only in industry but also in hydrodynamics. By now, many studies of flow in dividing regions have been performed, but flow characteristics that use visualization in dividing regions have not been studied. The present study of the PIV and the CFD exhibit average velocity distributions, kinetic energy distributions and total pressure distributions etc of the total flow field due to the development of the accurate visualization optical laser and of optical equipment. Also, PIV is accurate with the flows characteristics of the dividing region as continuous analysis is done using input equipment. The study analyzes average velocity vector field, average kinetic energy, x-axis stress distributions, average and total pressure distributions of dividing regions with flow for visualization of the PIV and the CFD measurement in a dividing rectangular duct.

  • The purpose of parameter design is to determine optimal settings of design parameters of a product or a process such that the performance characteristics of a product exhibit small variabilities around their target values. Taguchi made significant contributions in this area. However, his analysis of the problem focused on only one performance characteristic or response, although in product and process design, multiple characteristics are more common. The critical problem in dealing with multiple characteristics is how to compromise the conflict among the selected levels of the design parameters for each individual characteristic. In this paper, Methodology using SN ratio optimized by univariate technique is proposed and a parameter design procedure to achieve the optimal balance among several different response variables is developed. Existing case studies are solved by the proposed method and the results are compared with ones by the sum of SN ratios, the expected weighted loss, the desirability function, and EXTOPSIS model.

  • Taguchi´s parameter design is to determine the optimal settings of design parameters of a product or a process such that the characteristics of a product exhibit small variabilities around their targer values. His analysis of the problem has focused only on a single characteristic or response. However the quality of most products is seldom defined by a characteristic, and is rather the composite of a great number of characteristics which are often interrelated and nearly always measured in a variety of units. The critical problem in dealing with multiple characteristics is how to compromise the conflict among the selected levels of the design parameters for each individual characteristic. In this paper, Methodology using SN ratio optimized by unvariate technique is proposed and a parameter design procedure to achieve the optimal compromise among several different response variables is developed. One existing case study is solved by the proposed method and the results are compared with ones by the sum of SN ratios, the expected weighted loss, the desirability functions, and EXTOPSIS model.

  • The optimum drive control method have to be developed to exhibit the use object contributed trust, accuracy, amenity and energy save of product. To develop the optimum drive control method is, first, grasped the static characteristics for the entire system combined each element which consists the machine and performed the dynamic characteristics explanation based on the satisfied result which acquires at the static characteristics explanation. According to this explanation, the response of the system shows same characteristics tendency and the increasing same quantify comparing to response change of each element. So the dynamic response of the entire system shows different. Therefore this study performs the static and the dynamic characteristic explanation of entire system and each element for using air-conditioning system of solar energy based on the performed result from now on, so for application of this result.

  • Large space structures exhibit different natural vibration characteristics depending on the aspect ratio of structures such as half-open angle. In addition, since the actual large space structure is mostly supported by the lower structure, it is expected that the natural vibration characteristics of the upper structure and the entire structure will vary depending on the lower structure. Therefore, in this study, the natural vibration characteristics of the dome structure are analyzed according to the natural frequency ratio by controlling the stiffness of the substructure. As the natural frequency of the substructure increases, the natural frequency of the whole structure increases similarly to the natural frequency of the upper structure. Vertical vibration modes dominate at $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$, and horizontal vibration modes dominate at $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$.

  • A comparative study on thermal, static mechanical and dielectric characteristics were made over a temperature range of ca.20.deg.C to 320.deg.C and a frequency range of KHZ to MHZ band on low density polyethylene specimens crosslinked, respectively, by radiation and chemical method. The thermal property of both specimens shows that softening point appears to unchange by crosslinking, however, melting and liquidizing temperatures attain rapid increase at the imitiation of crosslinking. Mechanical properties show little difference to both specimens crosslinked by different method, further the behaviors were discussed in connection with the relaxation of molecular segments in amorphous phase. Dose dependent dielectric characteristics observed at ambient temperature under several fixed frequencies exhibit extremities at ca. 20 Mrad and the behaviors also were interpreted qualitatively by taking into consideration of dipole concentration change in amorphous phase together with the role of specimen geometry to the depth of oxidative layer. Observing frequency dependent dielectric characteristics, it was also proved that ionic conduction loss is appreciably greater in the specimen prepared by chemical method than that by radiation.
