고속 디젤기관의 배기배출물에 미치는 스크러버형 배기가스 재순환계의 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Exhaust Scrubber Type EGR System for High Speed Diesel Engine)

  • EGR is an efficient method for reduction of NOx from diesel exhaust emission since it is simple to install with low cost and effective in its performance however it has demerits such as incresing wear on the moving parts of engines. stainning intake system and deteriorate lubricating oil. In order to reduce the soot contents in the recirculating gas to intake system of the engine, a proper filtering device was desined and manufactered for experiment system. It is aimed to grasp the characteristics of pollutant emissions including SFC on EGR system equipped with soot removal device.

인명안전 관점에서 선박 화재 시 급·배기조건에 따른 배연성능 예측평가 (Smoke Exhaust Performance Prediction According to Air Supply and Exhaust Conditions for Shipboard Fires from a Human Safety Point of View)

  • 선박의 기계식 환기시스템은 화재발생 시 연기의 생성과 확산 특성에 영향을 미치고, 이는 피난자의 피난경로 상의 가시도를 방해함으로써 피난자의 연기로 인한 피해를 증가시킬 위험성이 크다. 이에 이 연구에서는 선박 거주구역에서 화재발생 시 기계식 급 배기시스템이 연기확산에 미치는 영향과 위험성에 대하여 FDS를 활용하여 평가하고 화재 시 급 배기시스템을 효율적으로 사용할 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다. 연구결과 화재가 발생한 장소에 급 배기시스템이 함께 작동되고 있는 경우에는 현재 권장되고 있는 급 배기시스템을 멈추는 방법보다 작동을 유지하는 것이 효과적이고, 배기시스템만 작동되는 곳에서 화재가 발생한 경우에는 화재가 발생한 구역 이외의 구역에서 급기시스템을 함께 작동시키는 것이 피난시간을 확보하는데 효과적인 것으로 예측되었다. 그러나 화재가 발생한 곳에 급기시스템만 있는 경우에는 급기시스템이 연기확산을 가속시키기 때문에 급기방식을 중단시켜 연기의 확산을 최대한 억제할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다.

선박 배기가스 활용에 따른 SOFC 시스템 공급가스의 온도특성에 관한 연구 (A study on temperature characteristic of the gases supplied to SOFC system by utilizing the ship exhaust gas)

  • 고체산화물형 연료전지는 운전온도가 고온이기 때문에 연료전지 시스템으로 공급되는 가스의 열관리 문제가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 선박 배기가스의 폐열을 선박 전원용 500kW급 SOFC 시스템으로 공급되는 연료, 가스 및 물을 가열하는 열원으로 활용한 경우에 연료전지 애노드 및 캐소드로 공급되는 가스의 온도특성에 관하여 검토하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 연료전지 시스템에서는 선박의 배기가스를 활용하지 않고 연료전지에서 배출되는 배기가스만으로 연료전지 시스템으로 공급되는 가스의 가열원으로 활용한 경우의 애노드 및 캐소드로 공급되는 가스의 온도가 963K로 가장 높음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 엔진의 출력(배기가스의 유량)은 연료전지 스택으로 공급되는 가스의 온도에 큰 영향을 미치지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

중.소규모 사업장의 국소배기장치 설치 실태와 문제점 및 개선방안 (Additional Improvement and Evaluation of Exhaust Ventilation Systems at Small and Medium Sized Enterprise)

  • Objectives : The purposes of this study were to evaluate exhaust ventilation systems(EVSs) and to suggest problems and improvements. Methods : For 50 small and medium-sized enterprises, we carried out evaluation of EVSs. We evaluated hoods with smoke tester and measurement of capture velocity. In addition, we used several indicators for performance evaluation designed in this study. Results : 1. Based on the smoke flow pattern and the criteria of occupational health and safety act, 67.8% of hoods were rated 'good' level at smoke test whereas 26.3% were rated 'good' level at measurement of capture velocity. 2. 29.3% of hoods, of which ratio of measured actual air flow at hood(Qah) to required ideal exhaust air flow at hood(Qih) was 1 or more, were rated 'good' level. 3. The % of EVS, of which ratio of measured actual air flow at stack(Qast) to total required ideal exhaust air flow at hood(Qith) was 1 or more, was 29.0%. 4. For the ratio of measured Qast to existing air flow at fan(Qfan), only 5% of EVSs were 1 or more and 26.0% were 0.8 or more but less than 1.0. 5. For the ratio of measured Qast to total measured actual exhaust air flow at hood(Qath), 74.0% were 0.8 or more but less than 1.0. 6. The percentage of EVS, of which ratio of total measured Qath to existing Qfan was 0.8 or more, was 19.0%. 7. The percentage of EVS, of which ratio of total measured Qath to total required ideal exhaust Qith was 1 or more, was 26.0%. 8. For the comprehensive evaluation indicators designed in this study, 29.0% were 0.8 or more. Conclusions : We found that few exhaust local ventilations at small and medium-sized enterprises were rated 'good' level and that most exhaust local ventilations had 'poor' design and installation. Therefore, relevant professional manpower and enterprises have to construct exhaust local ventilation where it is needed, and technical guidance and economic support are needed to improve 'poor' exhaust local ventilation after self-evaluation.

철도터널 구난역의 제연방식에 따른 제연성능에 관한 수치 해석적 연구 (A numerical study on the performance of the smoke exhaust system according to the smoke exhaust method in emergency station for railway tunnel)

  • 초장대 철도터널에서는 화재 시 안전성 확보를 위해서 구난역을 설치하도록 하고 있으나, 구난역에서 제연방식 및 제연풍량에 대한 기준이나 연구결과는 없는 실정으로 제연방식과 적정풍량에 대한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 서비스터널이나 상대터널과 연결하는 피난연결통로가 일정간격(40 m 간격)으로 설치된 구난역을 모델링하고 화재강도(15, 30 MW), 제연방식(급기만하는 경우, 강제급배기를 하는 경우, 강제배기만을 하는 경우), 제연풍량(7, 14, $40m^3/s$)을 변화시켜 화재해석을 수행하였다. 화재해석결과로 부터 구난역 승강장의 온도 및 CO농도를 분석하고 한계온도 기준 ASET을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 화재강도가 15 MW일 때에는 제연풍량이 $7m^3/s$ 이상인 경우에 강제급배기하는 방식과 강제배연을 하는 방식을 적용하면 충분히 안전한 대피환경을 확보할 수가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 화재강도가 30 MW인 경우에는 배연풍량이 $14m^3/s$ 이하에서는 900초 이상 대피환경을 유지하는 것이 불가능하며, 풍량이 $40m^3/s$일 때에는 상부덕트의 측면부에서 배기하는 경우(SA + EA2, SA + EA4)가 온도측면에서 안전성 확보에 가장 유리한 것으로 나타나고 있다.

  • Marine diesel engines with high thermal efficiency and fuel diversity used for propulsive power have been taking charge of important position on marine transport. However, marine environment has recently focused on emissions such as nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide which is generated from combustion of low grade fuels. EGR(Exhaust gas recirculation) system is one of effective methods to reduce the nitrogen oxide emission from marine diesel engines. In general, it is considered that recirculating gas influences fuel combustion and emissions in diesel engines. However, along with positive effects of EGR, the EGR system using fuels of including high sulfur concentration should be considered about re-combustion and activation of sulfur dioxide in recirculating gas. Therefore, in experimental study, an author investigates effects of sulfur dioxide mixture concentration in intake air on combustion and exhaust emission characteristics in a direct injection diesel engine. In results, change of sulfur dioxide concentrations in intake air had negligible impact on combustion chamber pressure, rate of heat release and emissions compared with effects of oxygen decreasing and carbon dioxide increasing of EGR.

  • Th effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) on the characteristics of combustion exhaust emissions and specific fuel consumption(SFC) are experimentally investigated by four-cylin-der four-cycle and direct injection marine diesel engine. In order to reduce soot contents in the recirculated exhaust gas to intake system of the engines a novel diesel soot removal system with a cylinder-type scrubber which has water injector(4 nozzles in 1.0mm diameter)is specially designed and manufactured for the experi-mental system. The obtained results are as follows; The combustion pressure in cylinder is decreased and ignition is delayed with increasing EGR rate. The accumulated quantity of heat release is slightly decreased and the tendency of heat release rate is not constant. NOx and Soot emissions are decreased by maximum 7% and 540% with scrubber tan without scrubber in the range of experimental conditions. Those are increased at the lean burn area with increasing equivalence ration in the constant value of engine speed and EGR rate. Also those are decreased with increasing EGR rate in the constant value of engine speed and equivalence ratio.

SOFC용 복합 배기 시스템 유동 특성에 관한 실험 및 수치해석적 연구 (Experimental and Numerical Study on Flow Characteristics of a Common Exhaust System for Multiple SOFCs)

  • In this study, experiments and numerical analysis were conducted to investigate the exhaust gas flow in a common exhaust system of multiple solid oxide fuel cells. The system was fabricated based on KGS code and operated within a pressure range of 0.12 kPa, with flow rates ranging from 79.1 to 103.4 L/min. Numerical modeling was validated with a mean absolute error of 3.8% for pressure results. The study assessed the impact of changes in area ratio and emergency stops on pressure distribution, velocity vectors, and wall shear stress. The findings revealed no significant factors causing high differential pressure or backflow.

Effects of Drying Methods Based on Exhaust Cycle and Time on the Quality and Drying of Red Peppers

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a system to optimize drying potential energy of the exhausted hot air by changing relative humidity of the air. This study modified the conventional drying method into a drying method changing exhaust cycle and time in order to control the relative humidity of the exhausted hot air during drying process. Method: A valve on the vent was controlled according to a preset time to change the exhaust cycle and time. This study analyzed the influence of the two different types of drying method on the drying characteristics, required energy, and quality of the dried peppers: conventional drying method exhausting hot air continuously and new drying method controlling exhaust cycle and time. Results: Drying characteristics based on exhaust time showed that drying time increased with exhaust time, and specific energy consumption was reduced by 28% from 18.39 MJ/kg (conventional method) to 13.24 MJ/kg when exhaust time was set to one minute. Drying characteristics based on heating time showed that drying time increased with heating time and specific energy consumption was reduced by 30% from 18.39 MJ/kg (conventional method) to 12.87 MJ/kg when exhaust time was set to 22 minutes. Drying characteristics based on exhaust cycle showed that drying time increased with exhaust cycle, and specific energy consumption was reduced by 31% from 18.39 MJ/kg (conventional method) to 12.69 MJ/kg when exhaust time was set to one minute and exhaust cycle was set to 22 minutes before drying and 40 minutes after drying. The quality of the dried red peppers showed that capsaicin, color, and sugar content were high as 34.87 mg/100g, 66.33, and 11.87%, respectively, when exhaust time was set to one minute and exhaust cycle was set to 22 minutes before drying and 40 minutes after drying. Conclusions: In order to utilize the drying potential energy of the exhausted air during drying process, the conventional drying method was modified into the drying method controlling exhaust cycle and time. The results showed that drying with exhaust cycle of one minute was more efficient in terms of drying time, required energy, and quality of the dried peppers than the one with exhaust cycle of 20~40 minutes.

디젤엔진 배출가스 질소산화물 저감을 위한 Solid SCR의 반응률에 관한 연구 (A Study on Reaction Rate of Solid SCR for NOx Reduction of Exhaust Emissions in Diesel Engine)

  • Liquid urea based SCR has been used in the market to reduce NOx in the exhaust emission of the diesel engine vehicle. This system has several problems at low temperature, which are freezing below $-12^{\circ}C$, solid deposit formation in the exhaust, and difficulties in dosing system at exhaust temperature below $200^{\circ}C$. Also, it is required complicated exhaust packaging equipment and mixer due to supply uniform ammonia concentration. In order to solve these issues, solid urea, ammonium carbonate, and ammonium carbamate are selected as ammonia sources for the application of solid SCR. In this paper, basic research on reaction rate of three ammonia-transporting materials was performed. TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis) and DTA (Differential Thermal Analysis) tests for these materials are carried out for various heating conditions. From the results, chemical kinetic parameters such as activation energy and frequency factor are obtained from the Arrhenius plot. Additionally, from test results of DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter) for these materials, chemical kinetic parameters using the Kissinger method are calculated. Activation energies of solid SCR from this experiment are compared with proper data of literature study, then obtained data of this experiment are used for the design of reactor and dosing system for candidate vehicle.
