In this paper, we design and analyze performance of Exclusive-OR based FEC (Forward error correction) system to deploy SVC video transmission service over packet-loss prone IP network. In the designed system, we adopt standard compliant Exclusive-OR based FEC scheme and apply it to be appropriate to the hierarchical layer structure of SVC video. To verify the performance of the designed Exclusive-OR based FEC system for SVC video transmission, we employ NIST-NET based transport simulator. By the SVC video transmission using the NIST-NET based simulator, we confirm the error resilient transmission performance of the designed Exclusive-OR based FEC system.

In order to properly interpret and process or operators in deductive databases including indefinite clauses, we propose to use Lasez′s Strong Model Semantics(LSMS) which is reasonably simple yet powerful enough to support both exclusive and inclusive interpretations. Conventional semantics either fail to support both interpretations or simply too complex. Therefore, in this paper we study advantages and difficulties of representing indefinite information, and as for the solution to difficulties, we show how LSMS can be used to support both inclusive or and exclusive or interpretations. We also investigate and analyze it′s properties and show how it semantically differs from others. We believe that LSMS is the only "reasonably simple" semantics that supports both inclusive and exclusive interpretations.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify breastfeeding practice with late preterm infants (LPIs), and to determine predictors of exclusive breastfeeding at the 12th week after discharge. Methods: The participants were 106 mothers of LPIs hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units at two university hospitals. Data were collected between February and October, 2013. Questionnaires included characteristics of LPIs, their mothers, and feeding-related characteristics. Feeding methods were exclusive breastfeeding, mixed feeding, and formula feeding. Results: Exclusive breastfeeding steadily increased from 5.7% at the 1st week to 19.8% at the 12th week, as did formula feeding from 27.3% to 67.9%. Contrarily, mixed feeding decreased from 67.0% at the 1st week to 12.3% at the 12th week. The ratio of formula feeding was higher than that of exclusive breastfeeding over time. Predictors for exclusive breastfeeding were the following: type of delivery (OR=2.96, 95%CI=1.07-8.14), feeding intolerance (OR=3.03, 95%CI=1.26-7.25) and feeding method during hospitalization (OR=7.84, 95%CI=3.15-19.53). Conclusion: In order to increase breastfeeding opportunities for LPIs, educational programs for gestational age-appropriate breastfeeding should be developed. The focus of breastfeeding education needs to be on mothers who delivered their LPIs through Cesarean-section and LPIs who had feeding intolerance or were fed only formula during hospitalization.

PURPOSES : The purpose of this paper is to develop a methodology to estimate level of service of arterial including Exclusive Median Bus Lanes. METHODS : On 6 Exclusive Median Bus Lanes routes in Seoul, bus travel time and number of bus-stop per km were investigated. Also whether or not passing lane exists at bus-stop was checked. Based on the data from sites, bus travel time was estimated according to length of segment, number of bus-stop per km and whether or not passing lane exists at bus-stop. RESULTS : A bus travel time table was developed according to length of segment, number of bus-stop per km and whether or not passing lane exists at bus-stop. After bus travel speed and passenger car travel speed is estimated based on each travel time table and length of segment, two speeds are combined with weighted average speed using traffic volume of each lane group. Then weighted average speed is a measure of effectiveness of arterial including Exclusive Median Bus Lanes. CONCLUSIONS : It can be concluded that the proposed methodology can estimate level of service of arterial including Exclusive Median Bus Lanes considering the operation characteristics of Exclusive Median Bus Lanes.

The sum-of-product type MVL (Multiple-valued logic) functions can be directly transformed into the exclusive-sum-of-literal-product(ESOLP) type MVL functions with a substitution of the OR operator with the exclusive-OR(XOR) operator. This paper presents an algorithm that can reduce the number of minterms for the purpose of minimizing the hardware size and the complexity of the circuit in the realization of ESOLP-type MVL functions. In Boolean algebra, the joinable true minterms can form the cube, and if some cubes form a cube-chain with adjacent cubes by the insertion of false cubes(or, false minterms), then the created cube-chain can become a large cube which includes previous cubes. As a result of the cube grouping, the number of minterms can be reduced artificially. Since ESOLP-type MVL functions take the MIN/XOR structure, a XOR circuit and a four-valued MIN/XOR dynamic-CMOS PLA circuit is designed for the realization of the minimized functions, and PSPICE simulation results have been also presented for the validation of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a exclusive-OR TCP coding technic imply with TCP Hybla on split PEP for enhancing the file transfer speed of the satellite communication. To evaluate performance of the proposed method, we set up a test-bed of satellite communication network. As a result of the performance evaluation, the file transmission speed enhanced more than 12% within high packet loss range. Therefore, we can expect that the proposed methodology could contribute to enhancing of data transmission speed in the satellite communication.

In this paper a method to perform Exclusive-OR operation between two tabular type Boolean expressions is presented. The proposed method allows to solve the switching equations and the simultaneous equations in a rather direct manner, compared with Unger's method.

An extraction technique for a common logic expression is an extremely important part of multiple-output logic synthesis. This paper presents a new Boolean extraction technique using an exclusive-OR logic synthesis principle. The logic circuits produced only have AND, OR and NOT gates. Heuristic methods can also be applied to reduce the execution time and the number of literals. The experimental results showed improvements in the literal counts over the previous methods.
