  • The purpose of this study was to compare the self-esteem and professionalism of dental hygiene students according to an educational system(three-year course and four-year course). The subjects in this study were 579 dental hygiene students in Chungcheong Province, on whom a survey was conducted. The findings of the study were as follows: The result on self-esteem and professionalism rate according to their satisfaction level towards the course shows that self-esteem of those who answered "satisfied" 3.02 in three-year-course, and 2.96 in four-year-course(p<.05), while professionalism rate of those who answered "satisfied" reach 2.97 in three-year-course and 2.93 in four-year-course(p<.05). As to self-esteem by motivation of choosing the department, the students who chose the department in hopes of being well paid had the best self-esteem both in the three-year-course colleges(3.18) and four-year-course universities(3.02). In terms of professionalism, those who chose the department in consideration three-year-course colleges, and the students who wanted to get a lifelong job(3.29) were most excellent in the four-year-course universities(p<.01).

  • The present paper shows a new non-tensorial approach to derive basic equations for various structural analyses. It can be used directly in numerical computation procedures. The aim of the paper is, however, to show that the approach serves as an excellent tool for analytical purposes also, working as a link between analytical and numerical techniques. The paper gives a method to derive, at first, expressions for strains in general beam and shell analyses, and secondly, the governing equilibrium equations. The approach is based on the utilization of local fixed Cartesian coordinate systems. Applying these, all the definitions required are the simple basic ones, well-known from the analyses in common global coordinates. In addition, the familiar principle of virtual work has been adopted. The method will be, apparently, most powerful in teaching the theories of curved beam and shell structures for students not familiar with tensor analysis. The final results obtained have no novelty value in themselves, but the procedure developed opens through its systematic and graphic progress a new standpoint to theoretical considerations.

  • There is a tradition of advocating the 'two basics' (basic knowledge and basic skills) in Chinese mathematics education. The direct consequence is that Chinese students are able to produce excellent performance in the international mathematics examinations and outstanding results in the international mathematics competitions. In this article, we will present why and how Chinese teachers teach the 'two basics,' and how combine the pupil's creativity with their 'two basics.' Open ended problem solving is a way to meet the goal. The following topics will be concerned: Culture background; the speed of computation; 'make perfect' ; Efficiency in classroom; Balance between 'two basics' and personal development. In Particular, Chinese mathematics educators pay more attentions to the link between open ended problem solving and the 'two basics' principal.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the critical plans when renovate in elementary school through into the analysis the kinds of using space of elementary school and areal distribution of its part. In this study, there were 10 schools in Sokcho city, which schools were analyzed into the typical types and open classroom types. This study has been progressed in analysis of the drawings and materials of each elementary schools, and situation analysis through the visiting. The results of this study, there are many different kinds in the using spaces and areal distributions. Especially, the schools, which have the open classroom, have the excellent education environments. These results show that the education quality of the elementary school is not equal in themselves, so this is the contradiction of the changing trends of the education situation. So there needs a standard according to the number of the classrooms and the students.

  • In recent years, augmented reality (AR) technologies have been the subject of great interest among many communities. In education applications, old-fashioned materials (or textbooks) are still used, despite remarkable AR developments in the industrial area. We present an AR system for education. Our system consists of an authoring tool that can be used to create educational content, a viewer that plays that content, and an engine to manage the tool and viewer. In our system, a marker unit recognizes a marker printed on a plane or a cubic plane by adaptively adjusting the threshold to have an excellent recognition rate in diverse environments and acquires corresponding data of the marker. Based on the system, we test 142 elementary school students for increased educational benefits using our system.

  • This study was designed to find answers for the two questions that had been raised in the study of Lee and Fortner(2000): 1) How can the appropriateness of classification of environmental issues by perceived certainty and tangibility be improved? and 2) How are perceived certainty, tangibility, significance of environmental issues and willingness to act to solve those problems related to each other? A questionnaire consisted of 40 questions was administered to 144 college students. Results of the study revealed that classification through cluster analysis appeared to be more appropriate and credible than classification by mean scores or medians. Four major factors were found to have high positive correlations to each other as hypothesized. These results imply for environmental educators that people's attitude toward and behavior on environmental problems are likely to be more strongly and meaningfully associated with their perceptions of those problems that are subjective and flexible than physical or chemical characteristics of the problems that are frequently considered as objective.

  • From 2010, an "excellent engineer" undergraduate and graduate program had been initiated in higher education of China to promote the development of industry and social economy. In this circumstance, the engineering education programs in Dalian Maritime University are reformed to satisfy the requirements of transportation industries. And the engineering practice, engineering activities, and engineering courses are emphasized. In this training program, industrial communities are deeply involved in the engineering education and training procedure; the students are educated and trained in university and enterprise according to the common standards and industrial standards; and the engineering competences and creative ability are emphasized and are to be enhanced in the training schedules and procedure. A joint-training mode has been established already between Dalian Maritime University and enterprises in transportation fields.

The stage is recognized another space of time by spectators during the play and the production actualize fictional world by using all destination things on the stage. Therefore, the design of the stage has symbolism and the production needs semiological. The Elements expressed through the stage is composed of stage equipment, costume, lighting, stage effects and the production needs light, sound and costume designers, a stage manager, grips an advertising director for the play. The study analysis on symbolic image on the view of semigical with focused on "Vishnvovvi sad" of Anton Chekhov. The details of the study are symbolism of stage effect and costume, lighting, stage equipment. Furthermore, The study analyze way to symbolic Express korean characteristics and This research is an excellent source for students who are studying the semilogical analysis of stage.

  • Lateral cephalometric head film measurements on forty schoolboys and forth-nine schoolgirls with excellent occlusions in Korean were compared with similar measurements on Caucasoids. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The cranio-facial skeletal pattern of Korean students was measured and compared with Caucasoids. 2. In cranio-facial observation, ANB and SN-Palatal plane was not significant in girls only, Gonial angle and 1 to NA were not significant in girls and boys, compared with Caucasoids. 3. In dentition area observation, the mean posterior dental height (A+B) and occlusal plane length was not significant in girls only, the mean anterior vertical dimension and P angle was not significant in boys, Q angle was not significant in boys in boys and girls, compared with Caucasoids.
