HEMA가 치환된 Polyphosphazene의 공중합 및 콘택트렌즈 응용 (Copolymerization and Contact Lens Application of HEMA-Substituted Polyphosphazene)

  • Phosphonitrillic chroride cyclic trimer 화합물을 $200{\sim}300\;{^{\circ}C}$ 하에 개환중합하여 선상 고분자를 얻 은 후 Grignard 시약 ($CH_2$=CH-MgBr)을 천천히 가하여 vinyl 기를 포함하는 polyphosphazene을 합성하였 으며, 이 폴리머를 HEMA(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)와 반응시켜 HEMA/vinyl-substituted polyphosphazene 을 얻었다. 이 고분자를 AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) 개시제 존재 하에서 교차결합제로 EGDMA(ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) 그리고 NVP (N-vinyl-pyrrolidone)을 혼합하여 공중합 시켰다. 얻어진 공중합체에 대한 측정 결과 산소투과율 (Dk/t)은 88로 측정되었으며, 함수율은 30.89% 그리고 가시광선 투과율은 87%로 나타났다. 이 자료로부터 이 공중합체가 우수한 콘택트렌즈 재료임을 발견하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 SEBS와 여러 가지의 유기화물로 처리된 MMT (montmorillonite) type의 clay를 이용하여 SEBS-clay 하이브리드 막을 용융삽입법으로 제조하였다. clay의 함량은 5 phr (per hundred resin)로 고정하였다. internal mixer를 사용하여 clay를 SEBS에 분산시켰으며, 제조된 SEBS-clay 하이브리드에서 clay의 특성피크가 완전히 박리되거나 이동하는 XRD 결과로부터 clay의 층간거리가 넓어지는 고분자의 clay 층간삽입을 확인하였다. Clay의 종류에 따라서 제조된 SEBS-clay 하이브리드 막의 가스투과도, 기계적 물성 및 열적 성질을 측정하였다. SEBS-clay 하이브리드 막은 clay 자체의 도입과 층간거리의 확대로 기체분자의 tortuosity를 증가시켜서 가스투과도를 저하시키는 것을 확인하였다.

  • A comb-like copolymer consisting of a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoro-ethylene) backbone and poly(hydroxy ethyl acrylate) side chains, i.e. P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PHEA, was synthesized through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using CTFE units as a macroinitiator. Successful synthesis and a microphase-separated structure of the copolymer were confirmed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), FT-IR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). This comb-like polymer was crosslinked with 4,5-imidazole dicarboxylic acid (IDA) via the esterification of the -OH groups of PHEA and the -COOH groups of IDA. Upon doping with phosphoric acid ($H_3PO_4$) to form imidazole-$H_3PO_4$ complexes, the proton conductivity of the membranes continuously increased with increasing $H_3PO_4$ content. A maximum proton conductivity of 0.015 S/cm was achieved at $120^{\circ}C$ under anhydrous conditions. In addition, these P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PHEA/IDA/$H_3PO_4$ membranes exhibited good mechanical properties (765 MPa of Young's modulus), and high thermal stability up to $250^{\circ}C$, as determined by a universal testing machine (UTM) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively.

Preparation and Characterization of New Immunoprotecting Membrane Coated with Amphiphilic Multiblock Copolymer

  • New immunoprotecting membranes were prepared by spin coating the amphiphilic random multiblock copolymers of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and poly(tetramethylene ether glycol) (PTMEG) or poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) on porous Durapore(R) membrane. The copolymer coating was intended to make a biocompatible, immunoprotecting diffusional barrier and the supporting porous substrate was for mechanical stability and processability. By filling Durapore(R) membrane pores with water, the penetration of coating solution into the pores was minimized during the spin coating process. A single coating process produced a completely covered thin surface layer (~1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in thickness) on the porous substrate membrane. The permselectivity of the coated layer was influenced by PEG block length, polymer composition, and thickness of the coating layer. A composite membrane with the coating layer prepared with PEG 2 K/PTMEG 2 K block copolymer showed that its molecular weight cut-of fat any 40 based on dextran was close to the molecular size of IgG (Mw = 150 kDa). However, IgG permeation was detected from protein permeation test, while glucose oxidase (Mw = 186 kDa) was not permeable through the coated membrane.

Synthesis and pH-Dependent Micellization of a Novel Block Copolymer Containing s- Triazine Linkage

  • Novel pH-sensitive moieties containing an s-triazine ring were synthesized with sulfonamide and secondary amino groups. The synthesized pH-sensitive moieties were used for the synthesis of a pH-sensitive amphiphilic ABA triblock copolymer. The pH-sensitive triblock copolymer was composed of diblock copolymers, methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-poly ($\varepsilon$-caprolactone-co-D,L-lactide) (MPEG-PCLA), and pH-sensitive moiety. These copolymers could be dissolved molecularly in both acidic and basic aqueous media at room temperature due to secondary amino and sulfonamide groups. The synthesized s-triazine rings containing pH-sensitive compounds were characterized by ${^1}H-NMR,\;{^13}C-NMR$, and LC/MSD spectral data. The synthesized diblock and triblock copolymers were also characterized by ${^1}H-NMR$ and GPC analyses. The critical micelle concentrations at various pH conditions were determined by fluorescence technique using pyrene as a probe. Furthermore, the micellization and demicellization study of the triblock copolymer was done with pH-sensitive groups. The sensitivity towards pH change was further established by acid-base titration.

Temperature Dependence of Self-Diffusion of THO in Copolymer Hydrogel Membrane as a Function of Gel Compositions

  • The self-diffusion experiment of THO was performed across a series of copolymer hydrogel membranes at different temperatures. Copolymer hydrogel membranes were prepared by copolymerizing 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and 2-aminoethyl methacrylate (AEMA) in the presence of the solvent and the crosslinker, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). By changing the crosslinker content and the ratio of HEMA and AEMA monomer, two series of copolymer hydrogel membranes were synthesized. The tagging material was THO and efflux of THO was counted on a Liquid Sc-intillation Counter. The experimental data show that the permeability decreases as the amount of EGDMA and the mole fraction of HEMA increase, and the permeability is proportional to the temperature. The partition coefficient shows a parallel trend with permeability. Using the relationship between viscosity and diffusivity, the viscosity of water within the membrane was obtained. According to the result, the viscosity of watler within the membrane has the same value with those of supercooling water. And we obtained the activation energy of THO for transport in the membrane by using Arrhenius plotting.

Transdermal Delivery of Ethinylestradiol UsingEthylene-vinyl Acetate Membrane

  • Ethinylestradiol (EE)-containing matrix was fabricated with ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) copolymer to control the release of the drug, Effect of addition of PEG 400 as receptor solution, the stripping of skin and Azone pretreatment on skin on the permeation of EE through the excised mouse skin was also studied. The permeation rate of EE through the excised mouse skin was affected by the PEG 400 volume fraction. The Azone pretreatment on skin didn't affect on the steady state flux, however, the lag time was shortened. The permeation rate of EE through the stripped skin was much larger than that through the whole skin. It showed that the stratum corneum acts as a barrier of skin permeation. The fact that there is little difference in EE permeation between the intact skin and the stripped skin with EVA membrane shows the permeation of EE through the mouse skin is mainly controlled by the membrane.

Sequence Distribution and Thermal Property of PEN/PBN Copolymers

  • Poly(ethylene 2, 6-naphthalate-co-tetramethylene 2, 6-naphthalate) (PEN/PBN) copolymers were synthesized and studied by 13C NMR spectroscopy, DSC analysis and X-ray diffraction. A minimum in the melting point vs. composition curve was found at approximately 60 mol% tetramethylene 2, 6-naphthalate. The PEN/PBN copolymers were shown to be statistically random throughout the range of 1, 4-butanediol compositions. The melting point depression behavior of annealed PEN/PBN copolymers depended upon the sequence propagation probability, PS, which is suggested by indivisual crystal formation of two pure comonomers; that is, ethylene-naphthalate-ethylene, EE, and tetramethylene-naphthalate-tetramethylene, BB. However, it can be seen from the X-ray curve that the peaks of PEN/PBN copolymers appear from a crystal lattice which is governed only by the rich component between two different aliphatic units in the copolymer composition.

Study on Properties with Different Plasticizers in the Preparation of Polymer Compounds for Cable Sheath

  • Four different polymer compounds were prepared from four kinds of plasticizers, viz. di-2-ethylhexyl azelate (DOZ), di-2-ethylhexyl adipate (DOA), di-2-ethylhexyl sebacate (DOS), and di-2-butyl sebacate (DBS), for making cable sheaths for ships. Ethylene-vinyl acetate and ethylene-propylene-diene-copolymer as matrix polymers and ethylene-vinyl acetate grafted maleic anhydride as a coupling agent were compounded with a flame retardant, crosslinking agent, filler, and other additives, besides the plasticizer to obtain the polymer compounds. The polymer containing DOZ showed the highest MH and ${\Delta}T$ in the rheology test, while that containing DBS was found to have the lowest tensile strength and highest elongation because of low ${\Delta}T$. The four polymers showed similar values (31.7-31.9) for flame resistance, while the polymer containing DOZ showed the highest value for cold resistance.

습도의 영향에 따른 PDMA-b-PS 친수성 블록공중합체 박막의 패턴 조절 (The Vertical and Lateral Ordering of PDMA-b-PS Block Copolymer Thin film via Control of Relative Humidity)

  • 리빙 프리 라디칼 중합법은 ATRP, NMP, RAFT 등의 방법이 있으며, 지난 수 십년간 매우 빠르게 발전해 왔다. 그 중에서 RAFT 중합법은 다른 방법들에 비해 최근에 학문적으로 크게 주목 받고 있다. RAFT 중합법은 다른 리빙 프리 라디칼 중합법에 합성할 수 있는 단량체의 종류나 합성의 제한이 비교적 작아서, 다양한 기능성 고분자를 쉽게 중합할 수 있으며, 합성한 고분자의 분자량 분포 또한 좁게 만들 수 있는 장점이 있다. 따라서 RAFT 중합법을 통해 다양한 형태의 블록 공중합체, 댄드리머 등을 합성하는데 이용되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 위와 같은 RAFT 중합법을 이용해, 친수성 블록을 갖는 새로운 블록 공중합체를 합성한다. Poly(ethylene-b-styrene)와 poly(ethylene-b-metharylate-bstyrene) 같은 블록 공중합체 박막을 이용해 용매 증발법에 의한 높은 수준의 정렬도를 갖는 연구가 진행, 보고되었다. 그리고 위의 2가지 연구에서 습도가 정렬도에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 하지만 위의 연구에서 친수성 블록에 의한 영향을 명확하게 규명하지 못했다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 다른 친수성 블록을 갖는 poly(N,Ndimethylacrylamide-b-styrene)를 RAFT 중합법에 의해 합성하고, 이를 이용해 박막 내에서 용매 증발법 중의 습도에 의한 영향을 일반화하고자 한다.
