Purpose: The purpose of this article was to describe feminism and to propose the integration of a feminist method into qualitative nursing methodology in order to expand the body of nursing knowledge. Method: The world view of feminism including philosophy, epistemology and methodology was outlined, and a feminist grounded theory and feminist ethnography were suggested as a way of strengthening nursing research methodology using literature review. Results: Four different philosophical perspectives of feminism, that is, liberal feminism, radical feminism, Marxist feminism, and social feminism were described. Also epistemological perspectives including feminist empiricism, feminist standpoint, and postmodem feminism, were explained and were related to the methodology and methods of feminism. To enhance the strengths of nursing research within the feminist perspectives, feminist grounded theory and feminist ethnography were exemplified in the paradigm of qualitative nursing research. Conclusion: This paper suggested that incorporation of feminist approaches within nursing is a valuable attempt to expand the body of nursing knowledge and to enhance the quality of nursing care services by rectifying male-oriented knowledge and by empowering women in the care of other people as well as themselves.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe how the rural elderly cope with experiences in multiple chronic diseases. Method: Data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interview using ethnography. The participants were 9 women and 2 men who aged over 65, were living in rural community, and had experienced two or more chronic diseases. Results: According to the results of this study, those who had experienced multiple chronic diseases went through the stages of 'recognizing of revealed symptoms', 'discovering of disease', 'overcoming', 'neglecting', 'discovering another disease', 'being frustrated' and 'living with suffering'. Conclusion: The results of this study are expected to be utilized as basic materials to develop a nursing intervention program for effective management of chronic diseases.

주거환경의 변화는 주거공간을 구성하고 있는 제품을 더 이상 독립된 구조가 아닌 서로 네트워크로 연결된 하나의 제품 및 서비스로 인식될 필요성을 나타내고 있다. 따라서, 제품 및 서비스 컨셉 도출을 위한 사용자 조사 단계에서 사용자의 행위 관찰 시, 관찰의 범위가 기존의 개별 제품을 사용하는 환경 중심에서 전체 제품을 사용하는 환경으로 확장 될 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 주거공간에서 제품 사용의 관찰범위를 개별제품사용환경과 전체제품사용환경으로 분류하여 각각의 관찰범위에서의 사용자 행위 분석 데이터가 어떠한 차이를 갖는지 관찰법(Ethnography)을 이용한 사례연구를 통해 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 추후 주거환경을 구성하는 제품 및 서비스 개발 시 목적에 적합한 관찰범위를 선택하는데 있어 도움이 될 것이며, 기반이 되는 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

In this study of the documentation process, a toddler's behavior was interpreted through use of text and picture both of which are subjective representations of reality. Two teachers deconstructed and reconstructed their knowledge of a photographed toddler by first referring to scientific theories from a text. They used these theories to analyze markings drawn on paper by the toddler in the photograph. But, the theories from the text were transformed into a new theory in the documentation process of reflecting on the history of markings in different contexts. Thus, the semiotics of pictures and texts changed in addition to change in meanings. This demonstrates the variability of signs, as in the concept of "rhizome" (Deleuze and Guattari, 1999).
