A Study on the Estimation Method of Concrete Compressive Strength Based on Machine Learning Algorithm Considering Mixture Factor (배합 인자를 고려한 Machine Learning Algorithm 기반 콘크리트 압축강도 추정 기법에 관한 연구)

  • In the construction site, it is necessary to estimate the compressive strength of concrete in order to adjust the demolding time of the form, and establish and adjust the construction schedule. The compressive strength of concrete is determined by various influencing factors. However, the conventional method for estimating the compressive strength of concrete has been suggested by considering only 1 to 3 specific influential factors as variables. In this study, six influential factors (Water, Cement, Fly ash, Blast furnace slag, Curing temperature, and humidity) of papers opened for 10 years were collected at three conferences in order to know the various correlations among data and the tendency of data. After using algorithm of various methods of machine learning techniques, we selected the most suitable regression analysis model for estimating the compressive strength.

  • The compressive strength of concrete is determined by various influencing factors. However, the conventional method for estimating the compressive strength of concrete has been suggested by considering only 1 to 3 specific influential factors as variables. In this study, nine influential factors (W/B ratio, Water, Cement, Aggregate(Coarse, Fine), Fly ash, Blast furnace slag, Curing temperature, and humidity) of papers opened for 10 years were collected at 4 conferences in order to know the various correlations among data and the tendency of data. The selected mixture and compressive strength data were learned using the Deep Learning Algorithm to derive an estimated function model. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the number of hidden layers on the prediction performance in the process of estimating the compressive strength for an arbitrary combination.

  • It is very important to accurately predict construction costs in the early stages of the construction project. However, it is difficult to accurately predict construction costs with limited information from the initial stage. In recent years, with the development of machine learning technology, it has become possible to predict construction costs more accurately than before only with schematic construction characteristics. Based on machine learning technology, this study aims to analyze plans to more accurately predict construction costs by using only the factors influencing construction costs. To the end of this study, the effect of the error rate according to the activation function and the node configuration of the hidden layer was analyzed.

  • In this paper, we design and implement an intelligent system for finding objects with RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) tag in which an mobile robot can do. The system we developed is a learning system of artificial neural network that uses RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) value as input and absolute coordination value as target. Although a passive RFID is used for location estimation, we consider an active RFID for expansion of recognition distance. We design the proposed system and construct the environment for indoor location estimation. The designed system is implemented with software and the result related learning is shown at test bed. We show various experiment results with similar environment of real one from earning data generation to real time location estimation. The accuracy of location estimation is verified by simulating the proposed method with allowable error. We prepare local test bed for indoor experiments and build a mobile robot that can find the objects user want.

Deep Learning-based Gaze Direction Vector Estimation Network Integrated with Eye Landmark Localization (딥 러닝 기반의 눈 랜드마크 위치 검출이 통합된 시선 방향 벡터 추정 네트워크)

  • In this paper, we propose a gaze estimation network in which eye landmark position detection and gaze direction vector estimation are integrated into one deep learning network. The proposed network uses the Stacked Hourglass Network as a backbone structure and is largely composed of three parts: a landmark detector, a feature map extractor, and a gaze direction estimator. The landmark detector estimates the coordinates of 50 eye landmarks, and the feature map extractor generates a feature map of the eye image for estimating the gaze direction. And the gaze direction estimator estimates the final gaze direction vector by combining each output result. The proposed network was trained using virtual synthetic eye images and landmark coordinate data generated through the UnityEyes dataset, and the MPIIGaze dataset consisting of real human eye images was used for performance evaluation. Through the experiment, the gaze estimation error showed a performance of 3.9, and the estimation speed of the network was 42 FPS (Frames per second).

  • Despite their wide application of some traditional project management techniques like the Program Evaluation and Review Technique, they lack of learning, one of important factors in many disciplines today, due to a static view for project progression. This study proposes a framework for estimation by loaming based on a Linear Bayesian approach. As a project Progresses, we sequentially observe the durations of completed activities. By reflecting this newly available information to update the distribution of remaining activity durations and thus project duration, we can implement a decision support system that updates e.g., the expected project completion time as well as the probabilities of completing the project within the due bate and by a certain date. By implementing such customized system, project manager can be aware of changing project status more effectively and better revise resource allocation plans.

Piece-wise linear estimation of mechanical properties of materials with neural networks

  • Many real-world problems are concerned with estimation rather than classification. This paper presents an adaptive technique to estimate the mechanical properties of materials from acoustoultrasonic waveforms. This is done by adapting a piece-wise linear approximation technique to a multi-layered neural network architecture. The piece-wise linear approximation network (PWLAN) finds a set of connected hyperplanes that fit all input vectors as close as possible. A corresponding architecture requires only one hidden layer to estimate any curve as an output pattern. A learning rule for PWLAN is developed and applied to the acousto-ultrasonic data. The efficiency of the PWLAN is compared with that of classical backpropagation network which uses generalized delta rule as a learning algorithm.

Single Image Depth Estimation With Integration of Parametric Learning and Non-Parametric Sampling

  • Understanding 3D structure of scenes is of a great interest in various vision-related tasks. In this paper, we present a unified approach for estimating depth from a single monocular image. The key idea of our approach is to take advantages both of parametric learning and non-parametric sampling method. Using a parametric convolutional network, our approach learns the relation of various monocular cues, which make a coarse global prediction. We also leverage the local prediction to refine the global prediction. It is practically estimated in a non-parametric framework. The integration of local and global predictions is accomplished by concatenating the feature maps of the global prediction with those from local ones. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art methods both qualitatively and quantitatively.

  • Traditionally, the construction industry has shown low labor productivity and productivity growth. To improve labor productivity, it must first be accurately measured. The existing method uses work-sampling techniques through observation of workers' activities at certain time intervals on site. However, a disadvantage of this method is that the results may differ depending on the observer's judgment and may be inaccurate in the case of a large number of missed scenarios. Therefore, this study proposes a model to automate labor productivity measurement by monitoring workers' actions using a deep learning-based pose estimation method. The results are expected to contribute to productivity improvement on construction sites.

  • Accurate 3D object tracking with camera images is a key enabling technology for augmented reality applications. Motivated by the impressive success of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in computer vision tasks such as image classification, object detection, image segmentation, recent studies for 3D object tracking have focused on leveraging deep learning. In this paper, we review deep learning approaches for 3D object tracking. We describe key methods in this field and discuss potential future research directions.
