In almost every construction project, delay is an inevitable yet controllable phenomenon. The Indian construction industry encounters an enormous amount of delays in projects. Delay affects both time and money in the forms of schedule and cost overruns, respectively. Due to impressive and dynamic growth in the Indian construction sector, planned efforts are essential to limit these undesirable delays. On account of the surge in the rate of residential building construction, the task of identification and analysis of the delays in residential projects in India has been attempted by the authors. A questionnaire survey was conducted involving 100 stakeholders. Further analysis included an Importance Index to rank the identified delays, Principle Component Analysis for advanced statistical analysis, and Correlation Analysis to check the extent of agreement amongst stakeholders. Conclusions drawn with reference to the analysed data eventually reflected finance-related issues, as well as labour related problems as the dominating causes of delays. The aim of the research is to provide insight to the construction stakeholders and researchers, on an international scale, with the obtained results.
Vibration in Engine module could be reduced by introducing a balance shaft module which has one or more unbalanced rotors. Since the unbalanced rotor is installed in an opposite direction of the free force or unbalance moment by engine component, the unexpected vibration could be decreased kinematically. The essential equation of the unbalanced rotor was Presented for two cases, 3 in-line and 4 in-line cylinder engine type, And the efficiency of the balance shaft is investigated by the vehicle testing that is focused on measuring the reduced vibration level when adapting a balancing module. With the signal processing of measured signals, some important issues on design the balancing shaft could be derived and the overall design process is explained in the final part including the peripheral component, i.e. housing and bush.

Usually the status of a bridge is determined by its structural capability and material strength. Consequently a lot of researchers have studied the failure, the fatigue, and the deterioration of the structure in terms of the structural function of a bridge. However, the overall performance of a bridge may be affected simply by the damage of one of its components. Therefore this study utilized a systematic classification and statistical analysis based on the existing bridge inspection data collected in Taiwan to reach the following goals: (1) assess the performance distribution and deterioration rate for bearing and expansion joint of bridge; (2) find out the right time to do the preventive and essential maintenance for the component of bridge with an empirical method, and to decide what time and which component of a bridge will receive preventive maintenance or regular maintenance.
Background and Objectives : Sphincteric function of the larynx, essential to lower airway protection, is most efficiently achieved through strong reflex adduction by both vocal cords. We hypothesize that central facilitation is an essential component of a bilateral adductor reflex and that its disturbance could result in weakened sphincteric closure. Materials and Method : Seven adult 20kg dogs underwent evoked response laryngeal electromyoraphy under 0.5 to 1.0 MAC isoflurane anesthesia. The internal branch of superior laryngeal nerve was stimulated through bipolar platinum-iridium electrodes and recording electrodes were positioned in the ipsilateral and contralateral thyroaryteonoid muscles. Results : Consistent threshold responses were obtained ipsilaterally under all anesthetic levels. However, contralateral reflex responses disappeared as anesthetic levels approached 1.0 MAC. Additionally, at 0.5 MAC, late responses (R2) were detected in one animal. Conclusion : Alteration of central facilitation by deepening anesthesia abolishes the crossed adductor reflex, predisposing to a weakened glottic closure response. Precise understanding of this effect may improve the prevention of aspiration in patients emerging from prolonged sedation or under heavy psychotropic control.
Xanthorrhizol is a bisabolane type of natural sesquiterpene, the major component of essential oils of Curcuma xanthorrhiza. 2-(3-Methoxy-4-methylphenyl)propan-1-ol and 2-(3-hydroxy-4-methyl phenyl)propan-1-ol could be essential building block for enantioselective synthesis of xanthorrhizol. Enantioselective (c = 53%, E = $80{\pm}3$) for R-(+)-2-(3-hydroxy-4-methylphenyl) propan-1-ol and (c = 58%, E = $27{\pm}1$) for R-(+)-2-(3-methoxy-4-methylphenyl) propan-1-ol resolution processes were developed via lipase-catalyzed reaction. We found lipase Aspergillus oryzae (AOL) and Porcine pancreas (PPL) are selective to transesterification and hydrolysis in organic and aqueous phase. Modified demethylated substrate is appropriate for enantioselective hydrolysis reaction without any additives. Enantiopure chiral alcohol was crystallized from ethyl acetate/n-hexane co-solvent system. Gram scale resolved chiral intermediate will facilitate the synthesis of the unnatural S-(+)-xanthorrhizol, the corresponding isomer of the natural one.
Science and technology is an essential ingredient of the progress in modern society. Measurements enable action and actions enable results. Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) - the science and technology of measurements without affecting the Properties and performance of the test object is an interdisciplinary domain area of high significance far ensuring quality, productivity and safety thus enabling better qualify of lift to the inhabitants on this planet. In the last decades, Facility Management (FM) has established itself as a key building service factor.FM includes supporting services and organizing functions essential for maintaining, operating and managing physical component and material. The purpose of the paper is to develop an economical analysis for building facilities management during its service life based on limited cost. This method helps to facilities managers and engineers to make better decisions for reducing of facilities assessment costs and increasing the facilities' service life. This paper presents the preliminary development of a model involves three stages process namely data collection, economic computation and economic process optimization. This process was tested for fiberglass doors example in a building interior and exterior system. If executives can manage essential points effectively and make decisions according to a key performance index, cost can be optimized and safety can be enhanced for installation building.

The essential element of brake device for railway vehicle is in demand for higher performance along side the trend of railway vehicle size and speed. Essential element of brake device for high speed train is composed of metallic friction material and brake disc. Thus, brake distance, duration and brake stability shall be determined due to friction materials and friction characteristics. Also friction characteristics are influenced by metallic friction material's properties of matter, manufacturing process and component parts. Various materials and configurations of metallic friction materials are currently being implemented to railway vehicles, For this reason study of friction characteristics in accordance with materials is necessary, but study of these important elements are not actively being accomplished. Therefore, in this study, wished to study the graphite's friction characteristic comprised in friction material in accordance with particle size and amount of volume through lab-scale test.
