Topology optimization is widely accepted as a conceptual design tool for the product design. Since the resulted layout of the topology optimization is a kind of digital images represented by the density distribution, the seamless process is required to transform digital images to the CAD model for the practical use. In this paper, the general process to construct a CAD model is developed to apply for topology images based on elements. The node density and the morphology technique are adopted to extract boundary contour of the shape and remove the noise of images through erosion and dilation operation. The proposed method automatically generates point data sets of the geometric model. The process is integrated with Pro/Engineer, so that the engineer in practice can directly handle with curves or surfaces form digital images.
Micro-lens patterned micro-mold fabrication method for Light Guiding Plate(LGP), kernel part of LCD-BLU(Back Light Unit), was presented. Instead of erosion dot pattern for LGP optical design, micro-lens pattern, fabricated by LIGA-reflow process, was applied. Optical pattern design method was also developed not only for negative pattern LGP, but also positive pattern LGP. During injection molding process, experimental study was conducted to improve replication quality and brightness of ${\sim}50um$ micro-lens pattern mold. The effect of mold temperature for the replication quality of micro-lens array was studied.
As the integrated circuit device shrinks to the smaller dimension, the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process was required for the global planarization of inter-metal dielectric(IMD) layer with free-defect. The effect of alternative commerical slurries pads, and post-CMP cleaning alternatives are discuess, with removal rate, scratch dentisty, surface roughness, dishing, erosion and particulate density used as performance metrics. we investigated the performance of $SnO_2$-CMP process using commonly used silica slurry, ceria slurry, tungsten slurry. This study shows removal rate and non-uniformity of $SnO_2$ thin film used to gas sensor by using Ceria, Silica, W-Slurry after CMP process. This study also shows the relation between particle size and CMP with particle size analysis of used slurry.

Local phenomena around bridge piers and abutments are generally considered to be similar, nevertheless the presence of the incoming boundary layer on the side wall in the abutment case generates extra pressure gradients and consequently a more complex vortex pattern. In the literature, experimental data for bridge abutments are relatively scarce; in particular almost no data are available for the time evolution of the scour. In this work we present the results of several long duration (3 days longrightarrow5weeks) clear water scour laboratory tests around bridge abutments; the time evolution of the erosion process is analysed with respect to local and global characteristic values (maxima, volume, hole shape). In particular we analyse the effect of the constriction ratio b/B between the transversal obstacle dimension and the flume width: in many practical situations abutments (or piers) obstruct a significant portion of the channel, so that the average acceleration due to constriction is expected to increase the scour effects of the local acceleration around the obstacle. Measured values for maximum scour are poorly predicted by literature formulas. Scour depths are positively correlated with the constriction ratio, but increases are smaller than expected from literature indications. Experimental results show that models for bridge piers cannot be directly applied to abutments; in particular, time scales for the latter are significantly larger than for piers.
Recently, the erosion due to cavitation frequently occurs on a horn-type rudder of a high-speed large container carrier. It is necessary to understand the flow characteristics around a rudder in fully wetted and cavitating flow condition, and the process of generation and collapse of cavitation for a rudder design to minimize the cavity-induced erosion. The flow characteristics around a two-dimensional hydrofoil(NACA66) are investigated through the computational method utilizing a viscous flow theory applied to a cavitation model. The computational results from the viscous flow theory are verified by the comparison with the experimental results, and are compared with those from the potential flow theory. The effects of angle of attack, Reynolds number, cavitation number, and thickness ratio on the cavitating flow are also investigated.
This paper examined the impacts of the regional developments and dwellers behavior on the Seacoast. Seacoast features a variety of landforms which are created by the action of waves and tidal flows. The coastal landforms are found mainly in the interface between land and sea. Although erosional landforms constitute prominent landscape features as sea stack, sea arch, and rock cliff do, it is nonetheless the depositional features such as beaches, tidal flats, offshore bars, deltas, sanddunes, and coastal plains that have various ramifications for human communities. Among these, beaches and coastal sanddunes are special in that their formation is attributable to the combined action of waves, tidal flows, and winds. The main line of discussion in this dissertation is concerned with the transformation of group of beaches sanddunes along the coastline of Chungcheong-Namdo Province. To some extent, the erosion of coastal dunes has been a global phenomenon. The degradation process occurs most actively when the spring tides attack beaches, berms, and foredunes. Also involved in the transformation of coastal dunes are factors of human agency. The extent, speed, and pattern of their morphological changes are a function of land-use pattern. The reclamation of swale and the exploitation of sands as construction material and silica sand, for example, ruin the feature of coastal dunes.
The catenaries must guarantee the constant electricity to the trains, so that the safety and the estimate of fatigue degree and the inspection of abrasion degree should be done rapidly. This thesis proposes the system that can manage the performance/failure of the catenaries using the image process as the solution for the weak points of the existing inspection such as the decrease of immediateness and the lack of constancy in the human resources. This study simulates the ALD using VHSV (Virture HSV) which is the unreal HSV images, not getting the real HSV in ages to the image processing technique that repeats the erosion and the expansion of the images as the methods that can monitor the slight/critical defects of the catenaries as dealing with the result of the catenaries inspection images. The final ALD (Abnormal Line Detection) system is designed based on this simulation. I have demonstrated it with the VHSV (Virture HSV) virtual images as the materials of the test and inspected it through testing the defects of the catenaries for the thesis.
The factors that influence ablation resistance in fiber composites are properties of the reinforced fiber and matrix, plugging quantity of fiber, geometrical arrangement, crack, pore size, and their distributions. To examine ablation resistance according to distribution of crack and pore size that exist in carbon/carbon composites, this study produced various sizes of unit cells of preforms. They were densified using high pressure impregnation and carbonization process. Reinforced fiber is PAN based carbon fiber and composites were heat-treated up to $2800^{\circ}C$. The finally acquired density of carbon/carbon composites reached more than $1.932\;g/cm^3$. The ablation test was performed by a solid propellant rocket engine. The erosion rate of samples is below 0.0286 mm/s. In conclusion, in terms of ablation properties, the higher degree of graphitization is, the more fibers that are arranged vertically to the direction of combustion flame are, and the less interface between reinforced fiber bundle and matrix is, the better ablation resistance is shown.
In this paper, the DE(double erosion) cathode for the reactive magnetron sputtering system is developed for high deposition rate and high target utilization efficiency. The utilization efficiency of the developed DE cathode is 22% higher than that of normal SE(single erosion) cathode. Sputtering process for the nickel oxide thin films with the DE cathode is performed under the following conditions; power with $1kW{\sim}3kW$, pressure with 4mtorr and 8mtorr, oxygen flow ratio with $0%{\sim}80%$. As a result, the hysteresis phenomenon of discharge voltage in 4mtorr is lower than that in 8mtorr and the hysteresis phenomenon of discharge voltage is getting lower as the applied power is getting higher. The structure of cross section and surface roughness of the thin films are observed by FE-SEM and AFM. The structure of cross section of the thin films is columnar and the average surface roughness under oxygen flow ratio of 0%, 52.5% and 65.0% are $2.08{\AA}$, $2.20{\AA}$ and $0.854{\AA}$, respectively.
