The biocompatibility of hydroxyapatite (HAP) has led to its application in various fields. To accomplish practical biological applications, such as drug/gene delivery, the colloidal stability of HAP in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) is particularly important. In this study, we prepared a glycerol incorporated-HAP (Gly-HAP) by heating HAP in a glycerol environment at 200 ℃. To compare morphology and colloidal stability, HAP prepared at room temperature (RT-HAP) was thermally treated in water at 200 ℃ (H2O-HAP). The heat treatment of HAP in both water and glycerol solutions results in an increase in the crystallinity of HAPs. Due to the low solubility of HAP in glycerol and the adsorption of glycerol on the HAP surface, crystal growth is limited. However, the heat-treated HAP under water increased in size by approximately four times compared to the initial crystallites. Compared to RT-HAP and H2O-HAP, Gly-HAP shows improved colloidal stability in PBS, which originates from the adsorption of glycerol on the HAP surface that inhibits the agglomeration of individual HAP precipitates.
A batch experiment was carried out to investigate a variation of Sr concentration and $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ ratio in the solution by water-rock interaction. The experiments were conducted at room temperature using two kinds of granites (biotite granite and garnet-bearing granite), de-ionized water. surface water. Water/rock ratio was 1:1. For comparison, we also performed another experiment under water/rock condition of 10:1. Then, the concentration of the cations and anions in the solutions showed severe variation during water/rock interaction. However, after sometime, the $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ ratio of the solution moved to the $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ ratio of the rocks and showed relatively constant value. This suggests that the $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ ratio between water and rock becomes to be stable faster than the elemental equilibration of the element in the solution, and is not affected by interaction condition. Therefore, $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ ratio of the groundwater may be useful in calculating the mixing ratio between different aquifer.
The ubiquitous smart home is the home of the future that takes advantage of context information from the human and the home environment and provides an automatic home service for the human. Human location and motion are the most important contexts in the ubiquitous smart home. We present a real-time human tracker that predicts human location and motion for the ubiquitous smart home. We used four network cameras for real-time human tracking. This paper explains the real-time human tracker's architecture, and presents an algorithm with the details of two functions (prediction of human location and motion) in the real-time human tracker. The human location uses three kinds of background images (IMAGE1: empty room image, IMAGE2: image with furniture and home appliances in the home, IMAGE3: image with IMAGE2 and the human). The real-time human tracker decides whether the human is included with which furniture (or home appliance) through an analysis of three images, and predicts human motion using a support vector machine. A performance experiment of the human's location, which uses three images, took an average of 0.037 seconds. The SVM's feature of human's motion recognition is decided from pixel number by array line of the moving object. We evaluated each motion 1000 times. The average accuracy of all the motions was found to be 86.5%.

This paper presents a design for preventing coolant leaks in the core part of a heater mounted in a combat vehicle. The heater is a device that makes heated coolant flow through the heater core in the crew room. A problem with coolant leaks in the heater core area during the operation of a combat vehicle was identified. This problem is caused mainly by high pressure at the junction of the tank and tube due to the vulnerability of this area. To solve this problem, an improved core was made by improving the welding method and changing the end region of the heater core to a structure that can withstand high pressure. When pressure was applied sequentially to the existing core and improved core, a leak occurred at 7.0 kgf/㎠ in the existing core while the improved core maintained its structure up to 17.0 kgf/㎠, highlighting the improvement. Finally, performance tests and environment tests were conducted to demonstrate the suitability of the improved structure. The improved heater will be applied to combat vehicles. This paper is expected to serve as a reference for improving defense capabilities by securing reliability as well as the design and analysis of failures of similar equipment.nse capabilities through securing reliability as well as the design and analysis of failures of similar equipment.
This paper was concerned with the investigation on the species of fungi detected in indoor environments. Mycological survey on the wall of buildings and houses in Seoul was performed from December 26, 1983 to February 11, 1984. The collected fungi with the sterilized cotton rod were caltivated and isolated in the Potato-Detrose Agar medium with chloramphenicol. The fungi detected in hospital were Cladosporium sp., Penicillium sp., Alternaria sp., Chaetomium sp. and others. The fungi detected in household were Penicillium sp., Alternaria sp., Aspergillus sp., Cladosporium sp., Rhizopus sp., Trichoderma sp. and others. The kitchen of household was more contaminated by fungi than the living room and others. In hospital, it was much contaminated by the same species of the aboves on the wall of lobby and refectory. As the above results were recognized, the higher humidity and the more poor ventilation, the more species and amount of fungi were contaminated. Further studies on the identification of pathogenic fungi should be continued. The proper regulation for the hygienic maintenance of indoor environment in household, hospital and other public buildings should be recommended as well.

Rural houses are losing their original shape as they mimic the spatial composition of urban houses. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to extract the design elements needed for rural housing by applying Christopher Alexander's "A PATTERN LANGUAGE" to Standard Rural-House Design (SRHD). The scope and method of research was to compare and analyze the standard designs (SD) produced and distributed by the 'Korea Rural Community Corporation' from 2009 to 2014. The research result is summarized as follows. 1) The housing layout in the SD ignored the site conditions of various rural areas. 2) Most of the houses were not actively planned, considering that they contain various activities of rural life. 3) There was no room for children and the kitchen was planned to integrate the interior into a flexible space in the form of L.D.K. 4) There was no space plan that could be used as both a leasable annex and office space for the farming community. 5) Many small area plans were made because of the SD plan for couples only in 2014. Although the rural environment and living patterns were ignored in the SD, the diverse pattern language provided by the pattern language was developed as a SD element for rural houses, which is the most suitable housing plan for the farmers' livelihood pattern.
Agrocybe cylindracea was cultured in a bag, in which sawdust culture medium (1 kg) is put in a plastic bag (PE), with poplar sawdust, rice bran, wheat bran, and dried bean curd refuse in the ratio of 70:10:10:10 (v/v). 2% of the culture medium was inoculated with the liquid starter of Agrocybe cylindracea, and this was incubated at $25^{\circ}C$. After incubation, the A. cylindracea was further cultured by cutting the top vinyl portion of the bag down to the level of the culture medium surface of the first inoculation part. The cut culture medium was placed in a growth room at $25^{\circ}C$, and pin-heading was induced under light irradiation at 99% humidity and 1,000 ppm $CO_$ level for 3days. When the grow the environment was controlled at 95% humidity and $21^{\circ}C$, the bending of the stem was less as compared to that when the cap of the bag had been removed. The number of effective fruiting bodies per bag increased by 140% (28.8), the quantity per bag increased by 29.5%, and 148.5 g A. cylindracea could be potentially harvested.
Speech enhancement used to improve the perceptual quality and intelligibility of noise speech has been studied as a method using a complex-valued spectrum that can improve both magnitude and phase in a method using a magnitude spectrum. In this paper, a study was conducted on how to apply attention mechanism to complex-valued spectrum-based speech enhancement systems to further improve the intelligibility and quality of noise speech. The attention is performed based on additive attention and allows the attention weight to be calculated in consideration of the complex-valued spectrum. In addition, the global average pooling was used to consider the importance of the feature map. Complex-valued spectrum-based speech enhancement was performed based on the Deep Complex U-Net (DCUNET) model, and additive attention was conducted based on the proposed method in the Attention U-Net model. The results of the experiments on noise speech in a living room environment showed that the proposed method is improved performance over the baseline model according to evaluation metrics such as Source to Distortion Ratio (SDR), Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ), and Short Time Object Intelligence (STOI), and consistently improved performance across various background noise environments and low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) conditions. Through this, the proposed speech enhancement system demonstrated its effectiveness in improving the intelligibility and quality of noisy speech.
The research is done to analyze the change of personal dosimeter according to the elapsed times(24 hours, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks) and magnetic field and find out the effective exposure treatment for radiation workers. At first, research the heat treatment and radiation of grouped TLD and keep them in different environments-exposed separately to observe the consequences of glow curve and the level of radiation exposure. As a result, we could find that 24 hours passing TLD group showed the difference in glow curve and the level of radiation. This can be considered as the change caused by magnetic exposure. Also the average radiation exposure level of TLD group, unexposed to the magnetic field, was 15.41 mSv. And the average radiation exposure level of TLD group, exposed to the magnetic field, was 14.83 mSv which decreased the biggest amount(3.80%) among the other groups. If a radiation worker, who works in PET-MRI room, uses TLD as a personal dosimeter, the level of real radiation exposure caused by exposure to the magnetic field won't change significantly as recorded at a regular record cycle but with not regular record but interim record, the lower exposure dose will be appeared than the real level of radiation.
The quality of side scan sonar images is determined by the frequency of a sonar. A side scan sonar with a low frequency creates low-quality images. One of the factors that lead to low quality is a high-level noise. The noise is occurred by the underwater environment such as equipment noise, signal interference and so on. In addition, in order to compensate for the transmission loss of sonar signals, the received signal is recovered by TVG (Time-Varied Gain), and consequently the side scan sonar images contain non-homogeneous noise which is opposite to optic images whose noise is assumed as homogeneous noise. In this paper, the SSCS (Structural Sparsity based Compressive Sensing) is proposed for removing non-homogeneous noise. The algorithm incorporates both local and non-local models in a structural feature domain so that it guarantees the sparsity and enhances the property of non-local self-similarity. Moreover, the non-local model is corrected in consideration of non-homogeneity of noises. Various experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to existing method.
