The current environmental issue is how a dwelling adapts into a given climate in which the design is applied by ecology without damaging the natural environment. In another word, the main issue in the twenty first century will be how we meet the human needs to dwellings applied by the residential environment. Therefore, we have to provide a hospitable place for residents' mental and physical health through "Green Design," emerging as the critical design of urban collective dwellings. Based on these conceptions, the purpose of this study is to suggest the way of designing the urban collective dwelling applied by ecology, proffering wealthy life style to residents with the preservation of natural environment as applying an ecological concept into the design of collective dwellings that represent a contemporary housing type for urban residents. In order to design the urban collective dwelling applied by ecology, this study introduces the outdoor design in friendly surroundings, the collective construct of a delightful housing, and the organic connection between inside and outside rooms.

The korea railway design has been developed by change of the society and culture through the consideration of the history of railway. Accordingly there contribute in the development of the korea railway design by analyzing the trend according to the changes o the korea railway design and the changes of the life environment in this paper. As dividing the design by period according to the changes of life environment into the internal and external nation, there are to analyze the development history of the korea railway design accordingly the railway and the style's change, to confirm into the design applied in society and culture needs, and to analyze by a year in changes of the environment and the korea railway design history from the 1800's to 2005.

In this paper, we introduce an integrated layout design system, SOLGER. Our system incorporates useful design tools : a powerful layout editor, a coherent access mechanism for large volumes of design data, an incremental design rule checker for hierarchical design environment, node extractor and electrical rule checker, a technology capture which is used for defining technology-specific information, and a procedural design environment for user customization. Also, we present a modified corner-stitching data structure which allows 45$^{\circ}$-angled bilateral edges. Users are provided with a multi-window design environment and a menu-driven interface. SOLGER is being used for VLSI designs practically.

Considering the present outdoor environment of city landscapes, the improvement of well-formed street landscapes is very important issue in Korea. At this point of time, it is very meaningful to understand the outdoor advertising design and the planning condition of buildings and examine various problems about this and the possibilities for improvement. Thus the purpose of this study is to accumulate basic data to establish design guideline and visual factors for the outdoor advertising for useful environment. The conclusions of this study are as follows: outdoor advertising design is powerful design tools as identified to city landscape. Planning factors for outdoor advertising design should be developed systematically and more fit to the street environment and designers in the aspect of control and guidance.

This study suggested the environmental components for open space in a healing environment based on the social support approach for integrating and enhancing users' activities and interactions. The physical environments of the open space in healing facilities should be suggested by social support design and support the interactions of various users. Particularly architectural environment conditions should reinforce the contribution to the revitalization of medical facilities based on improving the healing effect of patients through mutual exchange of users. The open space environment conditions influence users' healing process with physical design factors and users' interactions, and the flexible environments based on the social support that is crucial for circulation and mutual exchange of users. The open space transformation, integration of technology, and wayfinding system with color and signage also allow users to improve the space experience and easy access. The environmental components of open space design should include easy access for user inflow, flexible layout for comfort, access to outdoor spaces, integration of warm color schemes for relaxation, personalization of spaces with artwork, and visual interest through the use of textures and materials.

현대사회의 속도가 가속화됨에 따라 사람들의 생활도 빠르게 흘러가게 되었다. 즉 카페는 사람들이 필요로 하는 도시의 휴식처가 되었으며 스타벅스의 현지화가 더욱 확대됨에 따라 각양각색의 테마 카페들 사이에서 어떻게 두각을 드러내었는지, 카페 공간의 환경 디자인에서 어떤 뚜렷한 특징을 드러내었는지 연구가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문의 연구 범위로는 중국의 상하이, 쑤저우, 선전, 베이징 네 곳과 한국의 부산, 서울, 경주, 제주 네 곳이며 이러한 지역의 스타벅스 실내 환경 디자인을 현지조사를 하였다. 한국과 중국의 카페 내부 환경의 디자인 특징과 스타일을 대조하였으며 공간 디자인의 각 요소를 분석하여 한국과 중국의 스타벅스 환경 디자인의 차이점을 종합하였다. 동시에 향후 카페 디자인 전략의 방향과 향후 발전될 디자인에 대해 제기하였으며 조사결과 스타벅스 브랜드의 실내 환경 디자인은 주로 지역 문화의 특징이 두드러지는 것으로 나타났다. 현지 경제 문화의 특징에 근거하여 유행하는 문화 요소를 표현하였고 특징 있는 카페 브랜드 문화를 만들어내며 카페 시장의 활발한 발전을 이끌었다.

The objective of this project is to improve the environment of the estuary dike on the Youngsan-River through Re-landscaping. An estuary dike of the Youngsan-River, the largest in the Orient, was constructed in 1981 and connects Mokpo City and Youngam-Gun province. Twenty years ago, when this dike was completed, this place was one of the famous tourist attractions of Korea. It symbolized the development and growth of Korea. But this dike at present is only a dreary sight as a huge concrete construction element. Therefore, a wall painting on the estuary dike was planned to improve this image. The site, an estuary dike of the Youngsan-River, is located in Mokpo City and its length is about 1,360m. The planning focus of this re-landscaping, which is a proposed improvement design through the analysis of characteristics and problems in conventional facilities, is as follows: (1) Introduction of a wall painting that is a symbol of the sea and river (by the creation of an illusion), (2) Production of the wall painting which is under consideration to create a friendly atmosphere of the circumference view and (3) Preparation of a design to establish an approach to the waterfront. By following these steps, an estuary dike can function as a tourist attractions and can be transformed in to cultural space for civilian. This project is good example of environment design that is completed with the regional residents participation through community input in the planning and initiation of a wall painting. The concept of environment design which involves the residents participation and re-landscaping in Korea has not been established up to now on. However, as this projects has proven, consideration for regional residents is a very important factor for the administrative office and planing specialist to address. In the future, it will have a direct influence on the development of design planning. If the establishment of space that can be accepted by residents with love, affection and self-confidence is possible, environment design in which residents participate actively, can be realized.

For the office work environmental design, the importance of the design management is increased to improve operation efficiency as well as the aesthetic environmental implementation of the function today. Lighting is a required element ineffective operation environment. It has become more important for the aesthetic, economic, and practical reasons, to consider the luminous environment and the lighting of visual tasks separately. When the brightness is insufficient, productivity deteriorates, and the layout of the lighting located by mistake causes the fatigue of eyes. Productivity rises to office in a large number of studies so as satisfaction is low in general in the dark office, and to be bright. Therefore the purpose of this research is to suggest the right direction of lighting design of office building area. 11newly renovated office buildings are selected for this luminous environment research. We could conclusions as following through this research. First, it was planned brighter than the recommended lighting level in the most space. It shows that the accurate lighting design criteria is needed in order to achieve proper lighting environment. Second, the application of the LED lighting fixtures is continuously increased in the recent office lighting environment. It is explained that it is applied for reasons of the electrical energy reduction and the maintenance efficiency with the long life time. Third, the consideration of the lighting plan for the difference of working types is not enough. with various communication configuration through an independent plan, and the effective lighting plan that appropriateness preparation design and energy saving area vailable must be applied. Fourth, the lighting environment of the lobby needs a specialized lighting plan as are presentative space of the building.

This study aimed at creation of bench design to be placed in the public spaces for the citizen who live in Jungnang-Gu. In Jungnang-Gu surrounded by the excellent natural environment like Jungnang-stream, Mangwoo Mt., Bongwha Mt. and Youngma Mt., there are many public places where a citizen can take a rest. Among the public facilities being in such public places however, the benches especially were installed so unplanned and disordered, even that they look unbalanced with the natural environment, though they need to play a meaningful role in park and walking paths. Hereupon this study intends to investigate the geographical environment in Jungnang-Gu and furthermore to develop the bench-design on the basis of the investigation. The concept of design lies in modern style of a bench matched up with the nature well and also taking the functional aspect for rest, in consideration of the public places utilized by the abundant natural greens. The environment-friendly timber, marble and metal were used here and the design with and without the back of a bench & the dimension for Korean people's figure were considered.

The shipbuilding process is changing due to changes in the development environment and technological requirements for military ships. This would also hold true for a submarine, because its shipbuilding process includes complicated design and construction conditions. System improvement efforts for the design and construction of military ships have continued with the goal of overcoming these conditions. At present, the Korea Navy is developing a 3,000 ton-class Korean type submarine, and its design is progressing by the introduction of a full 3D-ship CAD system. Although the 3D modeling system was introduced for effective design realization through the introduction of collaborative design and active utilization of M&S (modeling and simulation), the introduction effects are not yet generally obvious, according to the characteristics of ship design. The present paper discusses the collaborative environment for developing a submarine to enhance this. This paper proposes the architecture and data structure of a system for realizing collaborative design and discusses a case system developed on the basis of this.
