As the role of entrepreneurship has become more important for continuous business growth in a rapidly changing economic environment, numerous studies dealing with entrepreneurship are taking place. However, recent studies has concentrated mainly on business-oriented entrepreneurship which emphasizes corporate efficiency only. While in the era of fourth industrial revolution human resources are more important than corporate efficiency, the existing literature is largely focused on traditional entrepreneurship. Research on humane entrepreneurship has not been rigorous, and there are few studies involving small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in particular. The purpose of this study is to fill in this void by investigating the effect of humane entrepreneurship on core competencies of SMEs and the effect of these core competencies on corporate performance. To examine SMEs core competencies and their performance from the perspective of humane entrepreneurship, this study set up traditional entrepreneurship and humane entrepreneurship as variables, and develop research model based on these variables. This study tests 5 different hypothesis using this model. A survey was conducted among CEOs and executives at SMEs in Seoul and Gyeonggido, South Korea from, June 26 to August 1, 2018. A total of 310 questionnaires were analyzed. The results show that both traditional and human entrepreneurship have a positive effect on the core competencies of SMEs, which are core competency factors, and that core competencies positively affect both non-financial performance and financial performance. Moreover, non-financial performance is found to have positive effect on financial performance. Given these findings, this study suggests that humane entrepreneurship is critical to SMEs and their performance, no less than traditional entrepreneurship. This study provides profound implications of necessity of raising humane entrepreneurship in environment of companies.

The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences and attitudes of elementary pre-service teachers, the level of entrepreneurship core competencies, and to analyze differences in entrepreneurship core competencies by grade, gender, and attitude. To this end, 208 elementary pre-service teachers who responded to the online questionnaire surveyed their experience, attitudes, perceptions, entrepreneurship attempts, and entrepreneurship core competency levels. As a result, pre-service teachers had a low level of understanding and direct participation in entrepreneurship education, the need for entrepreneurship education for elementary school students and teachers was high. The average of the value-creation competency group consisting of innovation, social value orientation, and change agility was relatively lower than the challenge, group creativity, and self-directed competency group. The difference of the entrepreneurship core competency level between the grades was not significant, and female students' competency levels were statistically significantly higher than male students. In addition, the average of the four core competencies of entrepreneurship in the group that recognizes the importance of entrepreneurship as essential competencies was statistically higher than that of their counterparts. Based on the results of this study, the implications for the design and development of a program for enhancing entrepreneurship competency for elementary school pre-service teachers were presented.
Lately, there is a worldwide boom for start-ups. This trends has led to develop many policies for entrepreneurship in Korea, which focused on college education. Also, as the forth industrial revolution knows no borders, demands of software early education are expanding in line with strong interests in IT (Information Technology). Information technology is now an essential competency for all professionals who need creative thinking. And entrepreneurs are a representative job that requires creative thinking. This study suggests IT competencies-IT planning competencies (ITPC) and IT development competencies (ITDC)-as a core factor of the entrepreneurial intention. This paper is to study the relationship between IT competencies and entrepreneurial Intention. So we investigated IT competence and entrepreneurial intention in university students with a questionnaire. The results of this empirical study can be summarized as follows. First, IT planning competencies have positive influence on entrepreneurial attitude and intention. But IT development competencies do not influence directly on entrepreneurial intention. Second, entrepreneurial attitude have mediating effects in the relationship between IT planning competencies and entrepreneurial intention. So, we need to develop good contents related to the IT planning capabilities when organizing training programs in start-up course. In order to improve the quality of entrepreneurship education, it will be necessary to develop educational contents that can have a broad perspective for understanding the trends of technology convergence and creating opportunities.

The purpose of this study is to identify the core competencies of graduate students at A research university in the context of graduate education in science and engineering, and to develop and validate a diagnostic tool to measure them. To achieve the research objectives, first, 6 factors and 18 sub-competencies of core competencies were derived based on a review of domestic and foreign studies, cases of excellent research-centered overseas universities, and interviews with members of A University. Second, a theoretical model was constructed by deriving behavioral indicators based on the core competencies and sub-competencies, and a preliminary survey was conducted on 188 graduate students of University A to verify the statistical validity of the theoretical model. Results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the core competencies of graduate students at A research university consisted of 6 factors, 16 sub-competencies, and 77 items. Specifically, it included "Independent research capability(13 items)", "Social Entrepreneurship(10 items)", "Academic agility(15 items)", "Ingenious Challenges(15 items)", "Collegial Collaboration(9 items)", and "Mueunjae leadership(15 items)". This study contributes to the development of theories related to core competencies of graduate students in science and engineering, and has practical significance as a basis for a data-driven competency-based graduate education system.

This study analyzed the effect of the entrepreneurship planning course provided by an women's university in Seoul on the enhancement of the core competencies of entrepreneurship of university students. To this end, pre- and post-test of core entrepreneurship competency were conducted on 63 female university students (32 in experimental group, 31 in control group) and then the results were analyzed. The course in which the experimental group participated was a team-based project learning course and it required a team of three people to draw an entrepreneurship plan containing social problem solving as the final result. The course was operated for a total of 8 weeks. To measure the level of entrepreneurship core competency in the pre- and post- test, the survey tool that was developed by the Ministry of Education and Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation (2020) was used. This tool composed by 'value creation', 'challenge', 'self-directed', and 'group creativity' competencies. As analyses methods, i) covariance analysis was performed using the pretest as a covariate, and then a two-way ANOVA was performed with treatment (experimental group, control group) and time point (pre test, post test) as two independent variables. Results show while there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the value creation competency, it significantly contributed to the enhancement of challenge, self-directed, and collective creativity competencies. Based on these results, implications and limitations were discussed, followed by future research direction.

This study is intended to look into the effects of project leader's core competencies(intellectual ability, management ability, emotional ability) on the Critical success factors(job satisfaction, organizational commitment, group cohesion) of project by environmental variables of organization. The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, the intellectual ability, management ability and emotional ability had a significant effect on the job satisfaction, organizational commitment and group cohesion. Second, the functional organization and project organization had a partial effect on project leader's core competencies. But the individual-centered organization had no moderating effect. For the project organization, all intellectual ability, management ability and emotional ability had a moderating effect on the organizational commitment. Consequently, project leader's core competencies are mechanisms to improve the job satisfaction, organizational commitment and group cohesion, and they have a different moderating effect according to the type of organization.

The Purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the effects of core competencies on the management performance of hospitals and the mediating roles of medical service orientation and internal customer orientation. The sample of this study was composed of 307 employees from 18 general hospitals in Incheon Metropolitan City and Bucheon City. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modelling technique. This study found that core competencies had positive effects on the management performance of hospitals and that medical service orientation and internal customer orientation mediated the relationship between core competencies and the management performance of hospitals. The theoretical and practical implications of the results were discussed and the directions for future research were suggested.

Recently, as the awareness of the necessity of entrepreneurship education has spread in secondary education, the competency of educators in the field of education has become more important. This study tried to derive the priority of education needs by exploring the competency of educators to practice entrepreneurship education and the result from analysis of the difference in importance and performance. For conducting the analysis, this study conceptualized entrepreneurship education competency based on the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) model and developed a questionnaires to measure those competencies. Using TPACK and developed questionnaires, a survey was conducted on 217 secondary school teachers who were interested in entrepreneurship education, and derived the difference between importance-level and current-level was analyzed with a t-test. As a result of the study, for all sub-factors of TPACK, the mean of importance-level was higher than the mean of current-level, indicating that educational prescription was required. Also, as a result of analysis of Borich's requirements and The Locus for Focus Model, it was found that the factor with the highest priority in education was CK(Content Knowledge). Based on the results of study, implications for strengthening competencies for entrepreneurship educators were derived.

This paper analyzes a case of successful faculty entrepreneurship through a coupled process of open innovation in a university context, using the core competency theory perspective. Initially, the current state of faculty entrepreneurship is examined, and the effects of interdisciplinary coupled processes of open innovation are explored, focusing on the case of 'Omotion Inc.,' a startup utilizing generative AI technology for hyper-realistic 3D virtual human experiences. The research methodology involves in-depth interviews with Omotion Inc.'s co-founders, technology commercialization professionals, and experts in the field, followed by analysis based on foundational theories. Applying the core competency theory, this paper scrutinizes the process of integrating diverse expertise and technologies from various academic disciplines. The analysis goes beyond the limitations of faculty entrepreneurship confined to a single technology-centric research domain. Instead, it explores the possibilities of enhancement and value creation through coupled processes, providing practical implications for the university entrepreneurial ecosystem. The aim is to extend the traditional roles of education and research within the university, presenting a role in economic value creation beyond the boundaries of conventional faculty entrepreneurship. Through the collaboration of two faculty members, this study showcases the creation of novel technology and business models. It establishes that successful coupled processes of open innovation in faculty entrepreneurship, from a core competency theory perspective, require the entrepreneurial firm to possess (1) entrepreneurial capabilities, (2) technological capabilities, and (3) networking capabilities. The implications of this research highlight the positive impact of coupled processes of open innovation in faculty entrepreneurship, as evidenced by the Omotion Inc. case, offering guidance on entrepreneurial directions for university members preparing for entrepreneurship.

This study explored the core management competencies of ventures formed by the entrepreneur's incubator organization and startup experience in the biomedical industry in Korea. An in-depth interview was conducted with 13 entrepreneurs of biomedical ventures. Based on the previous literature, the core management competencies of the ventures, which are influenced by the incubator organization and startup experience, are classified into 'technical competency', 'organization management competency', 'network competency' and 'market pioneering competency'. Analysis of the in-depth interview has revealed 18 factors influencing the formation of the core management competencies of ventures. Qualitative factors that were not addressed by the previous empirical studies were identified in this study. These include 'confidence in technology development', 'way of performing R&D', 'organizational culture' etc. This study is characterized by its scarcity as a qualitative study that deals with the entrepreneurs' prior experience. In addition, this study categorize the core management competencies which are formed by entrepreneurs' incubator organization and startup experience as four factors. This result is expected to be useful in future research.
