In order to prevent global warming according to fossil fuel use, countries around the world are making efforts through the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Climate Change Convention. In addition, in order to prepare for high oil prices, researches such as the development of various renewable energy are being conducted. At present, the domestic production rate of energy sources in Korea is low at 18.1%, and power plants using forest biomass are being constructed to meet the domestic situation where 63% of the land is a forest. In 2015, the global production of wood pellets, a raw material for wood-based biomass power generation, was 28 million tons, up 7.7% from 2014, and has increased tenfold over the last decade. This is a result of increased demand for biomass. Korea is also increasing every year. However, biomass fly ash, an industrial by-product generated by biomass energy generation, is now being disposed of entirely, and there is little research to utilize it. Therefore, this paper will use biomass fly ash, an industrial by-product, which is currently being discarded due to a lack of separate treatment methods, as an admixture concept to contribute to solving environmental problems, developing new admixtures, improving quality, and seeking recycling plans.

The mesoporous metal organic framework structure of Ni-BTC was successfully synthesized in a low temperature and short operation time via hydrothermal synthesis process. Such operational route virtuously consumed less electrical and thermal energy. It proved time saving along with acceptable product yield (38%). The product was characterized through FESEM, FT-IR, XRD and $N_2$ gas adsorption measurement. Hightemperature stability of synthesized MOF was gauged by diffraction indexing of XRD patterns of as synthesized and heat treated samples of MOFs. The mathematically calculated particle size of Ni-BTC was found to be 42nm.

U/RE was electrochemically recovered to LCC at $50mA/cm^2$ from LiCl-KCl salt containing $0.5wt%UCl_3$, $0.22wt%NdCl_3$, 0.15wt%$CeCl_3$ and $0.07wt%LaCl_3$. The Cd in the LCC deposit was removed during the distillation using Cd distiller. U/RE product of 107g obtained from the distiller was installed to TG and then heated to $1200^{\circ}C$ to be consolidated. Dense U/RE metal ingot was not acquired through the consolidation process because U/RE product had been partially already oxidized during the distillation process.

Sewage treatment facilities can purify sewage enough to be send to river or sea water, that discharged from human life and industrial activities. In the sewage treatment process, we can get large amount of by-product energy resources and materials such as heat of sewage, digester gas and purified water etc., it can be utilized by applying various technologies thereby we can reduce energy consumption in the process. In this paper, it was analyzed using the data collected from the operational case study for the energy savings effect that can be obtained when using the digester gas, one of the by-product materials of sewage treatment process, for electric power generation. Cost of 623million won is an annual reduction of 4,032MWh corresponding 9% of the annual electricity consumption of the sewage treatment plant, such an alternative power generation using digester gas was proposed in this paper has been verified the feasibility of the proposed reduction of energy.
Torrefaction is the promising process of pretreating biomass materials to increase the quality of their energy, especially to upgrade the materials' grindability so that it is suitable for a commercial pulverizer machine. In this study, torrefaction of oak, bamboo, oil palm trunk, and rice husk was carried out under different torrefaction temperatures ($300^{\circ}C$, $330^{\circ}C$, and $350^{\circ}C$) and different torrefaction residence times (30, 45, and 60 minutes). Complete characterization of the torrefied biomass, including proximate analysis, calorific value, thermogravimetric analysis, mass yield, energy yield, and grindability properties (Hardgrove Grindability Index) was carried out. Increasing the torrefaction temperature and residence time significantly improved the calorific value, energy density (by reducing the product mass), and grindability of the product. Furthermore, for commercial purposes, the torrefaction conditions that produced the desired grindability properties of the torrefied product were $330^{\circ}C-30minutes$ and $300^{\circ}-45minutes$, and the latter condition produced a higher energy yield for bamboo, oil palm trunk, and rice husk; however, torrefaction of oak did not achieve the targeted grindability property values.
This paper analyzes the relationships among the energy consumption, renewable energy production, real gross regional domestic product(GRDP), and greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions. It uses the metropolitan city and province level data for Korea from 2010 to 2018, employing a panal vector autoregressive(VAR) model. We find that an increase in energy consumption has a limited impact on boosting renewable energy production or gross regional domestic product, while it leads to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. A rise in renewable energy production can increase gross regional domestic product, but it has no meaningful effects on energy consumption and the reduction of green house gas emissions. Our finding indicates that it is crucial to expand the supply of renewable energy as well as to decrease energy consumption in order to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reaching economic growth.

There are many different kinds of forming processes to make a tubular product such as hydroforming and tube drawing. However, we should consider a better forming process in view point of energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission to save our earth. In this paper we have conducted FEM simulations to the various forming processes for sheet and tubular products to compare their energy consumptions. One example is tubular product and the other for drawn cup. From the comparisons of total energy for hydrofroming and tube sinking processes, hydroforming is consumed more energy than tube drawing. Also the cup drawing from sheet metal and tube sinking for the cup with flange indicate that the tube sinking is better than cup drawing of sheet metal in energy consumption.

Hydrogen energy has been attracting attention as an alternative energy source for petroleum and stoneware. In addition, the benefits of hydrogen energy, such as no dust, abundant energy source and no ecological impact, were to compare favorably with other renewable energy sources. However, unclear product development standards and usage of hydrogen energy increase the risk of accidents in hydrogen energy related product lines. And, the high energy level of hydrogen has implications for large social problems in the event of an accident. Therefore, this study suggests the standardization method of fast hydrogen energy to help secure the safe market of hydrogen energy related products, which are mostly developed new products.

The recent gradual increase in the energy demand is mostly met by fossil fuel, but the research on and development of new alternative energy sources is drawing much attention due to the limited fossil fuel supply and the greenhouse gas problem. This paper assesses the feasibility of producing fuel energy from a dewatered sewage sludge by microwave-induced pyrolysis with sludge char and graphite receptor. Both receptors produced gas, char, and tar in order from product amount. The gas produced for the sludge char receptor contained mainly hydrogen and methane with a small amount of light hydrocarbons. The graphite receptor generated higher gravimetric tar and generated higher light tar. Through the results, the product gas from the microwave processes of wet sewage sludge might be possible as a fuel energy. But the product gas has to be removed the condensable PAH tars.
A new depth filter media was designed and samples of flat sheet as well as cartridge assembly were prepared and tested to evaluate the filtration performance and compare with the commercial product. The arrangement of the depth filter media layers is important to reach the optimal filtration parameters like filter pressure drop, particle collection efficiency and dust holding capacity. Initially, both flat sheet samples of new media and commercial product have been tested using standard test units. Tests with new depth filter media cartridges of various pleat count were conducted in order to find the optimal pleat count which would represent the lowest pressure drop. These tests give an insight on how the pleat count and the assembly configuration affect the performance of the depth filter media cartridge. By comparing the samples with a commercial product we could confirm relatively high filtration performance of the sample cartridge with pleat count 150 made of new depth filter media. The cartridge with the same pleat count exhibits better performance without the outer mesh.
