  • In the past few decades, the global population growth and rapid economic development have resulted in significant increases in building energy consumption. To reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and building energy consumption, building materials and energy technologies must be optimized. Building retrofitting is a more efficient method than reconstruction to improve the building energy performance. In order to improve the energy performance of existing buildings, this study proposed energy-efficiency retrofit plans and derived cost-effective retrofit plan. The energy efficient retrofit method is achieved through the packaging of energy technology and the energy and cost reduction effect of the energy efficiency retrofit package are analyzed. As a result of the study, the energy-efficiency retrofit package showed an energy reduction effect of up to 60% or more and a construction cost reduction of about 30%. This study argues that optimal energy and construction cost reduction of existing buildings are possible through the packaging of energy efficiency technology.

  • Currently one of the most importance issues in industrial sector is energy cost and energy efficiency. The manufacturing plants especially have made many efforts to reduce energy cost by implementing maintenances. But in many cases, they are not aware that how much energy could be saved more. If we know the best energy consumption, which signifies energy baseline, we can control the intensity of maintenances. One way to obtain the baseline is using proper statistics from a specific plant, a sector of industry. Energy bandwidth signifies the gap between actual Specific Energy Consumption(SEC) of a certain plant and minimum SEC of the best plant, and estimate energy saving potential(ESP) is a result of bandwidth analysis. We chose a model plant and implemented some maintenance for a year, and then we obtained ESP. Additionally we could determine the decreased amount of carbon emissions from the plant using Carbon Emissions Factor(CEF) by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC).

  • Today, the amount of energy consumption at the university campuses is huge. The effort for the energy consumption reduction in university campuses is certainly needed by the following reason; first, contribution for the reduction request about green house gas emission. Second, energy cost reduction in university campus. Third, emotional spreading influence consideration as the maximum higher educational institutions. For the energy consumption reduction in university campus, the energy consumption analysis of current situation has to be executed. The energy reduction possibility in which it exists in university campus can be understood through the energy consumption analysis. And the application is possible as fundamental data of the policy establishment for the effective energy reduction in university campuses. This research analyzed the energy consumption present state of the major university campus of the Korea as the fundamental research for the energy consumption reduction plan preparation of the university campus. Moreover, surveys were performed and analyzed for the energy manager in charge of the university campus.

  • This study focus on the analysis of the energy performance in accordance with apartment houses arrangement type by using Ecotect Analysis. Korea, energy-poor country, the rate of dependence on imports amount to 94%, have to reduce energy consumption part of building except in industry and transport which affect the economic. Apartment houses are built in various forms in order to reduce energy, are modelled in each window area ratio, shape, orientation, climate through simulation. Through this study, we can analyze energy performance by form, window area ratio, orientation, climate change and know the optimal elements by the form. In particular, although there have been studied research on the window area ratio and research related to the arrangement form, determined that the information on the regional climate characteristics and the direction of placement is less than existing research. To supplement those problem, adding to seven direction(West, S-60-W, S-30-W, South, S-30-E, S-60-E, East) and climatic element(southern region) is characteristic of this study. The form of apartment houses was modelled for apartment houses built in the 10 years since. And each modeling were analyzed by Ecotect Analysis.

  • The object of the present work is the acoustic emission energy analysis of subambient pressure tri-pad slider. Head/disk interaction during start/stop and constant speed were detected by using acoustic emission (AE) test system The frequency spectrum analysis is performed using the AE signal obtained during the head/disk interaction Natural frequency analysis was performed using Ansys program. Acoustic emission energy was calculated for the slider modes.

  • Purpose: Currently, since the energy consumption of apartment buildings is on the rise, it is necessary to reduce the total amount of the energy through the survey and analysis of energy consumption data. Although various studies for energy efficiency have been conducted, studies are more focused on the measurement of energy by using analysis tools. In addition, the studies are sufficient to analyze real data of the city gas in apartment buildings. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify the property of annual and $1m^2$ city gas amount according to the exclusive dwelling area. Method: To achieve the objective, this study used the statistics such as descriptive, correlation, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) analysis. Result: As a result, there is positive relationship between the annual average of city gas and the exclusive dwelling area. However, in the case of $1m^2$ city gas amount, a negative relationship is mored. In the future, the findings of this study can be applied to develop the prediction model of the city gas consumption and implement it as basic data for energy efficiency of apartment buildings of future.

  • The energy consumption of apartment houses is affected by various factors. The criteria for assessing current energy usage are area, region and purpose. The purpose of this study is to obtain the reliability of the method of evaluating the existing energy consumption certificate and to derive usable evaluation factors according to the correlation of factors affecting energy consumption. The research process collects energy usage data for apartment houses in Daegu and calculates statistical results through correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. As a result, it was found that the power energy is influenced by the yearly factor of physical characteristics, and the heat energy and total energy usage are influenced by the energy source which is energy characteristic factor.

  • The reliable Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) data, sometimes called Test Reference Year (TRY) data, are necessary in the feasibility study of renewable energy installation as well as zero energy building. In Korea, there are available TMY data; TMY from Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), TRY from the Korean Solar Energy Society (KSES) and TRY from Passive House Institute Korea (PHIKO). This study aims at examining their characteristics by using Principle Component Analysis (PCA) at six ground observing stations. First step is to investigate the annual averages of meteorological elements from TMY data and their standard deviations. Then, PCA is done to find which principle components are derived from different TMY data. Temperature and solar irradiance are determined as the main principle component of TMY data produced by KIER and KSES at all stations whereas TRY data from PHIKO does not show similar result from those by KIER and KSES.
