불응축가스량이 가변전열 히트파이프의 열수송 특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of NCG Charging Mass on the Heat Transport Capacity of Variable Conductance Heat Pipe)

  • Numerical analysis and experimental study are performed to investigate the effect of heat load and operating temperature on the thermal performance of several variable conductance heat pipe (VCHP) with screen meshed wick. The heat pipe is designed in 200 screen meshes, 500 mm length and 12.7 mm outer diameter tube of copper, water (4.8 g) is used as working fluid and nitrogen as non-condensible gas (NCG). Heat pipe used in this study has evaporator, condenser and adiabatic section, respectively. Analysis values and experimental data of wall temperature distribution along axial length are presented for heat transport capacity, condenser cooling water temperature change, degrees of an inclination angle and operating temperature. These analysis and experiment give the follow findings: For the same charging mass of working fluid, the operating temperature of heat pipe becomes to be high with the increasing of charging mass of NCG. When the heat flux at the evaporator section increases, the vapor pressure in the pipe rises and consequently compresses the NCG to the condenser end part and increases the active length of the condenser. From previous process, it is found out we can control the operating temperature effectively and also the analysis and experimental results are relatively coincided well.

염화물의 기상환원반응에 의한 미립질 철분말의 생성속도에 관한 연구 (Kinetic Study on Preparation of Iron Fine Powders by Hydrogen Reduction of Ferous Chloride Vapor)

  • 염화철(Ferrous Choloride) 증기의 고온 수소환원 반응을 통한 미립질 철분말의 생성속도에 대한 이론적인 해석돠 실험을 수행하였다. 철분말의 생성기구는 염화철이 증발하여 생성된 증기와 운반가스인 알곤을 혼합하여 반응부로 유입시키고 수소에 의한 고온환원반을을 통하여 철분말과 함께 부산물인 염화수소(HCI) 가스를 얻게 된다. 생성된 반응부 후미에 설치한 유기용매 포집기를 이용하여 회수하였으며, 염화수소는 가성소다 수용액에 흡수시키고 이를 적정함으로써 초기 반응물인 염화철의 전환율을 계산하였다. 반응속도식의 반응물에 대하여 1차반응(1st-order reaction)이고 염화철 증가와 운반체인 알곤가스가 평형상태일 때의 속도상수는 $k=7,879exp(-53,840/RT)\textrm{dm}^3/mole.sec$으로 표시되며, 이때의 활성화에너지는 53.84kJ/mole이었다. 철분말의 TEM 사진에 의하면 입도범위는 $0.1~1.0{\mu\textrm{m}}$이며, 반응온도 및 가스유량에는 크게 영향을 받지 않는것으로 나타났다.

실린더내의 연료 액적의 기화 과정에 관한 수치 연구 (Simulation for Fuel Droplet Evaporation in Cylinder)

  • 본 연구는 불꽃 점화 기관의 실린더내의 연료 액적의 기화과정에 대한 수치 해석이다. 본 연구의 특징은 무차원 임계 액적 수명시간을 정의하여 가솔린엔진의 흡입 및 압축행정동안 연료 액적의 가열 및 기화과정을 모델화한 것이다. 수치해석 결과는 압축행정동안 기체 온도 및 압력의 동시적 증가는 액적의 기화율에 서로 보상적인 영향을 미치려는 경향을 보이고 있다. 즉 실린더 내 환경의 변화는 연료 액적의 기화과정에 민감하지 않다는 것을 보이고 있다. 이 프로그램은 압축행정 말기에 완전히 기화할 수 있는 액적의 크기를 예측할 수 있다.

Expansion Spool Design of an Offshore Pipeline by the Slope Deflection Method

  • Offshore, sub-sea pipelines that transport oil and gas experience thermal expansion induced by the temperature of the transported medium during operation. The expansion of the pipeline can induce overload and cause damage to offshore platforms or sub-sea structures that are connected to the pipelines. To mitigate and prevent these incidents, expansion spools are installed between offshore, sub-sea pipelines and risers on the platform. This paper presents the results of the study and development of a simplified design method for expansion spools, using the slope deflection method for the purpose of preliminary design or front-end engineering and design (FEED).

VOC물질중 에탄올 광분해반응을 위한 $TiO_2$촉매의 제초변수 고찰 (The Study on Preparation Parameters of $TiO_2$Catalyst for Photodecomposition of Ethanol as a VOC)

  • In this study, TiO$_2$, the popular photocatalyst, was used to decompose ethanol. TiO$_2$was prepared by the sol -gel method and coated on pyrex stick. A 15W, UV-A lamp was used as the UV light source and il gas chromatography (HP 5890) was used to confirm the concentrations of ethanol, $CO_2$and the intermediates. Variation of preparation parameters and calcination temperature for TiO$_2$photocatalysts in the sol -gel method caused changes of ethanol decomposition activity. The best ethanol photodecomposition activity was obtained on the sample when prepared with 0.14 mol of HCI, a mol of ethanol and 1.3 mol of TTIP ware mixed in sol-gel process and calcinated at 50$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. Acetaldehyde was detected as an intermediate and decomposed to carbon dioxide and water at the end of the reaction.

  • It is reported that we are facing the serious environment pollution difficulties such as acid rain, green house effects, etc. The gaseous matter CO, NOx, SOx, VOCs which are regarded as main factors for these current pollutions are mainly emitted from power plants and vehicles. Therefore several leading countries are regulating the related laws strictly, especially exhaust emissions from a Diesel engine without an after treatment device. The Objective of this study is to find out NOx removal characteristics focused on emissions of a Diesel engine using radical at each engine speed and load. It is generated from outer air and put into a mixing chamber in the end of exhaust line. In addition, the optimum temperature condition to activate reaction by radical is experimentally carried out. Concentration of exhaust emissions is analyzed from the gas anlayzer(KaneMay) and FTIR to estimate by-products.

  • A thermoacoustic refrigerator, using a resonant standing acoustic wave, has been built. It employs a loudspeaker to sustain a standing wave in a resonance tube. The stack of plates is 0.075mm-thick plastic sheet(Mylar), spirally wound to make a 40mm-diameter assembly 80mm long. and two heat exchanger are installed. The refrigerant is Helium gas. The description of thermoacoustic refrigerator are presented. The directly measured performance of the resonator. Tc/Th ( temperature ratio ) and $COP/COP_{c}$, (normalized by carnot's COP ) are plotted versus the thermal load Q applied to the cold end, for various speaker power.

  • BSCCO thin films fabricated by using the evaporation method. As a result, although the composition of Bi2212 was set up, the phase of Bi2201, Bi2212 and Bi2223 was formed. The formation area of these stable phases is indicated as inclined line in the direction of the right lower end from the Arrhenius plot of the substrate temperature-oxidation gas pressure, and are distributed in very small area. The activation energy for the phase transformation from the Bi2201 to the Bi2212 is estimated in terms of the Avrami equation.

  • Steel bridges, which have been damaged by load and corrosion, need repair or strengthening. In general, before the repair welding procedure, cutting procedure carry out. Therefore, the investigating of the behavior of stress generated by cutting is so important for safety of structure. Residual stress produced by gas cutting was analyzed using 2D and 3D thermal elasto-plastic FEM. According to the results, the magnitude of temperature was analyzed by 2D-FEM is smaller than that was analyzed using the 3D-FEM program at the start and end edge of flange. And the magnitude and distribution of residual stress of perpendicular to the cutting line was analyzed by the 2D-FEM program was similar to that was analyzed by the 3B-FEM program. Therefore, it is possible to predict of cutting stress by 2D and 3D FEM.

  • 로켓추진기관의 발사초기 자세제어와 조정 안정성의 확보를 위해 로켓노즐 출구부에 장착되어지는 제트베인(jet vane)은 작은 설치 공간 및 빠른 응답성 등과 같은 장점과 함께 엔진 연소실에서 발생한 고온고속의 연소가스에 직접 노출되어 삭마(ablation)되는 단점 또한 안고 있다. 본 연구는 제트베인의 삭마해석을 위한 기초연구로서 균일 초음속 유동장내에 위치한 단일 제트베인으로의 열전달 특성 해석을 수행하여 보았다.
