  • The major objective of this paper is to analyze the relationships between End-User Computing(EUC) attributes and its implementation. Reviewing the related literatures, we categorized EUC attributes into threefactors - relative advantage, compatibility, complexity. With such attributes this paper proposed a hypothetical model which explains the effect of the EUC attributes on its implementation. Under the assumption that EUC attributes affect its implementation differently according to the several contingent factors, the model included such factors as organizational size, organizational support level on the EUC activities and individual characteristics - computer experience, education level, age. Data were collected form 177 end-users of 40 Korean business firms. Hypotheses were tested using Pearson Correlation, t-test, ANOVA and the results are discussed below.

  • The increasing importance of end-user computing(EUC) is reflected in the proliferation of academic and practitioner literature on the subject. However, much of this literature assumes widely differing dimensions of EUC, which tends to make many researchers suggest different success factors for managing EUC. Moreover, the variables regarding EUC management have been considerably restricted in previous research. In order to overcome these problems, this study focuses on identifying EUC dimensions theoretically and deriving generic variables representing the mode of EUC management by factor analysis first. Then, based on these EUC dimensions and generic variables for EUC management, effective ways of managing EUC are hypothesized and tested empirically through a mail survey of end-users in 83 Korean business organizations. The results suggest that effective management of EUC should be different depending upon which dimension more importance is attached to in implementing EUC.

  • This paper is related to a performance analysis of B-NT system, which is essential compositional equipment of B-ISDN access network. A simulator enabling performance analysis according to the change of network configuration topology and the change of user traffic is developed in this study. The developed B-NT, system simulator consists of graphic user interface module, simulation program automatic generator module, and B-NT system model library module. As examples of the results of performance analysis using the simulator, end-to-end user cell transmission delay time, queueing delay time in each system, and cell loss rate in the head node switch are presented. The simulator developed in this paper can be utilized in determining the network topology of B-NT system.

  • The multiplicity of operating systems brings about a choice problem to the end-user and a multi-fold intensity to the competing developer. This study intends to provide guidelines solving the problems for both the end-user and the developers of operating systems. For the purpose, we adopt an appropriate evaluation model in terms of user-perceived quality through the applicable criteria and an evaluation method. Briefly, reliability and portability are key factors to contribute to the perceived duality. The empirical study also illustrates a comparative analysis on the dominant products. Microsoft Windows and Linux, in Korea.

This study intends to provide guidelines solving the problems for both the end-user and the developer of packages for automatic statistical analyses. For the purpose, we adopt an appropriate evaluation model in terms of user-perceived quality through the applicable criteria and an evaluation method. The result of empirical study is described, which shows that the weight of each criterion is dynamic along usage levels. Briefly, functionality, usability, and reliability are key factors to contribute to the perceived quality. The empirical study also illustrates a comparative analysis on the dominant products, SAS and SPSS, in Korea.

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to analyze the effect of the information quality of standard menu system of ERP on the user’s satisfaction 2) to analyze the effect of the information quality of standard menu system of ERP on the user’s performance. The questionnaires were distributed to 260 end users(dietitians, foodservice management managers) in charge of managing the institutional foodservice such as the office(government agencies, factories), schools(universities, middle and high school) and hospitals which were managed by contract foodservice management company “C” in Seoul and Kyunggi. The surveys were performed from July 26 to July 30, 2004. Two hundred and fifty questionnaires were responded(response rate : 96.2%). The statistical analysis was conducted by using SPSS Win(11.5). And the descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability test, pearson correlation and simple regression analysis were performed. The results showed that the information quality of standard menu system of ERP have a significant positive effect on the user’s satisfaction(p<0.001) and user’s performance(p<0.001). When constructing standard menu system on ERP in the contract foodservice management company, the information quality of standard menu system of ERP should be guaranteed in order to satisfy the end-user and to improve the user’s performance.

  • The Knowledge Creation in early stages of new service development plays a critical role in the success of the service. The user is a crucial resource in creating knowledge in early stages of development, and user involvement is necessary. There are three roles the user can take part as in service development: informative, consultative, or participative. Based on these different roles, the process of knowledge creation varies. With this background, we proposed to investigate which creative processes need to be passed through in order to positively affect service development based on the role of the user in early stages of Internet service development. This case study was undertaken based on two new projects. The results of this study reveal the relationship between the knowledge creation process and user in early stages of development and at the same time provide guidelines regarding user involvement in actual service development.
