  • Many organizations have paid less attention to knowledge withholding intention (KWI) rather than knowledge sharing. KWI is the likelihood that employees will give less than their full effort to contributing knowledge. KWI can be affected by employee's knowledge psychological ownership (KPO), cultural level (Individualism/collectivism: I/C), and altruism for organizational benefits. Also I/C is an important motivational factor that affects KPO and KWI closely. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between employee's KPO and KWI in the perspective of employee's motivational factors (I/C, altruism for organizational benefits). The results of analysis show that employee's KPO and collectivism are driving forces leading to KWI and that individualism is the significant influential factor of employee's KPO. For theoretical and practical contributions, the research presents the grounds for arguments that KPO and I/C are employee's psychological motivation for individual KWI and organizations trying to pay attention to employee's KPO and individualism need to decrease employee's KWI under individual, leader, and organizational dimensions. Limitations arisen in the course of the research and suggestions for future research directions are also discussed.

  • Purpose: The objective of this study is to evaluate the fringe benefits provided by the entrepreneurs in BSCIC (Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation) industrial estates in light of the relevant labor laws of Bangladesh. Research question: Fringe benefits are one of the major factors in compensation that play a vital role in employee satisfaction. However, the issue has yet to be taken into consideration in the industrial units. So, the question arises: what is the present condition of employee fringe benefits in industrial estates? Research design, data, and methods: To conduct this mixed-methods research, a total of 222 respondents were selected randomly from employees and entrepreneurs. Two sets of self-administered questionnaires and KIIs were used to collect primary data, while SPSS was used to analyze the data. Major findings and conclusions: The study shows that the conditions of leave and holidays do not comply with labor laws. Further, aspects of maternity leaves, disability/death benefits, retirement benefits, and other financial and non-financial benefits are found not to be at a satisfactory level and do not comply with the existing labor laws. However, the benefits relating to environmental issues are found to be satisfactory. It is expected that the study findings will contribute to the existing literature related to fringe benefits and will help stakeholders and policymakers in formulating and monitoring compensation packages.

  • When implementing a new information system, the success has been infrequent even though implementing a new IS can bring about various benefits to organizations. Employee resistance has been identified as a critical reason for such failure of implementing and operating a new IS. The vital role of orgazniational support with employee personality traits (e.g., tolerance for ambiguity and openness to expeirence) to reduce employee resistance has been missing when explaining to the failure of impleneting a new IS. The purpose of this study was to test a research model regarding employee resistnace, investigating the relationship bewteen organizational support and employee personality traits in that how organizational support influences employee resistance and also how employee personality traits (e.g., tolerance for ambiguity and openness to expeirence) interact with organizational support to decrease employee resistance the most. The results of this study supported our hypotheses and theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

  • The researches on corporate social responsibility(CSR) focused mostly on its effects on financial performance or consumer's behavior. However relatively few studies have dealt with employee's attitude towards CSR. The purpose of this study is to analyze determinants of hospital employee's attitude towards CSR. The data were collected from 163 employees at a general hospital in Gyeonggi-do from June 18 to July 18 in 2012. For the statistical analysis of data, t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were implemented. The result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis shows that first, perceived management support and direct benefits were positively related to the attitude towards the acceptance of CSR while interruption of work was negatively related. Second, as interruption of work was controlled, the statistically significant relationship between clinical department and attitude towards the acceptance of CSR was disappeared. In order to accommodate CSR in hospitals, first, the enterprise-wide support is more effective rather than expecting the action of each employee. Second, hospitals should provide the education about CSR to let employees expect direct benefits such as improving of their moral sense. Third, the burden of work causing interruption needs to be managed to cause employees to accept CSR.

  • While traditional benefit plan offers the same benefits to employees regardless of their needs, cafeteria benefit plan or flexible benefit plan allows staff to choose from a variety of benefits to formulate a plan that best suits their needs. • Since the KONEX market was launched in 2013, many studies of the market have focused on policy reports and management of the market. In this study, we analyzed the impact of training and employee benefits expenses on business performance in the KONEX market in comparison with firms in the KOSDAQ 100. The expenses associated with employee training and benefits can have an overlapping power when explaining the business performance. To determine the net effect of each variable on business performance, we used regression by successive orthogonalization. The training and the employee benefits expenses in both markets showed a positive effect on business performance. However, in the KONEX market, we found that the lag effect of training expense to business performance was relatively smaller than in the KOSDAQ 100. This difference may be related to problems such as short continuous service and frequent turnover of SMEs in Korea, and implies that overall human resource management should be implemented to increase the efficiency of training expenses.
