  • The purpose of this study is the structural relations will be examined among the VMD image of clothe stores, emotional reactions of brand awareness, brand image, brand attitude, and purchase intention. An empirical study in experimental design was conducted to female college students in their twenties, who made a huge influential group in the fashion industry, by considering the VMD characteristics of clothing shops. It measured the effects of VMD based on the changes to the consumer attitude before and after the VMD renewals, the correlations between brand recognition and VMD, and the influences of VMD on brand recognition and image, which were considered as important factors in creating brand assets. The research findings were as follows: 1. There were differences in emotional reactions according to the VMD image changes before and after renewal. Considering that the consumers recognized the VMD changes before and after renewal and showed different emotional reactions, the VMD image seems to be a major variable affecting their emotions. 2. As for the changes to the VMD image and brand image before and after renewal, the consumers recognized the VMD changes before and after renewal and consequently recognized the brad images differently, which implies that brand image can vary according to the effects of VMD renewal and changes to the VMD image.

The Effect of EGR Pipe Configuration on EGR Characteristics of Diesel Engine with Variable Geometry Turbocharger (EGR관 형상이 가변형상 과급기를 장착한 디젤엔진의 EGR 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The use of an Exhaust Gas Recirculation(EGR) for a diesel engine with variable geometry turbocharger(VGT) has confronted how to obtain the amount of EGR for NOx reduction requirement at wide operating range and less side effect. Through a combined effort of modeling(wave action simulation) and experiment, an investigation into the effect of EGR area ratio and pipe length on EGR characteristics of common rail diesel engine with VGT has been performed. For accurate computation, calibration of constants involved in empirical and semi-empirical correlations has been performed at a specific operating point, before of its use for engine simulation. From the results of this study, it was found that EGR rate is sharply increased with increasing EGR area ratio until area ratio of 0.3. However, the effect of EGR area ratio on EGR rate is negligible beyond this criteria. This study also investigates the effect of EGR pipe length on a EGR amount and pulsating flow characteristics at EGR junction. The results showed that the longer EGR pipe length, the lower EGR amount was achieved due to the flow loss resulting in lower amplitude of pressure wave.

Interannual Variabilities of Sea Surface Temperature and Sea Level Anomaly related to ENSO in the Tropical and North Pacific Ocean System (열대 및 북태평양에서 ENSO와 관련된 표층수온과 해면고도의 경년 변동성)

  • In order to understand the variation of ENSO-related oceanic environments in the tropical and North Pacific Ocean, spatio-temporal variations of sea surface temperature anomaly (SSTA) and sea surface height anomaly (SSHA) are analyzed from distributions of complex empirical orthogonal functions (CEOF). Correlations among warm pool variation, southern oscillation index, and ocean surface currents were also examined with respect to interannual variability of the warm pool in western tropical Pacific. Spatio-temporal distributions of the first CEOF modes for SSTA and SSHA indicate that their variabilities are associated with ENSO events, which have a variance over 30% in the North Pacific. The primary reasons for their variabilities are different; SST is predominantly influenced by the change of barrier layer thickness, while SSH fluctuates with the same phase as propagation of an ENSO episode in the zonal direction. Horizontal boundary of warm pool area, which normally centered around $149^{\circ}E$ in the tropics, seemed to be expanded to the middle and eastern tropical regions by strong zonal currents through the mature phase of an ENSO episode.

Air-Water Countercurrent Flow Limitation in a Horizontal Pipe Connected to an Inclined Riser

  • An experimental investigation has been peformed to examine the effects of various geometrical parameters and an initial operating condition on the air-water countercurrent How limitation (CCFL) in a simulated PWR hot leg. A total of 118 experimental data for the onset of CCFL and zero liquid penetration were obtained for various combinations of test parameters. It was observe that the CCFL can be classified into three different categories: (the onset of CCFL, (the partial liquid delivery, and (r) the zero liquid penetration. The observed mechanisms of the onset of CCFL were different depending on the inlet water flow rate. The parametric effects of pipe diameter, horizontal pipe length, horizontal pipe length-to-diameter (L/D) ratio, and initial water level in the horizontal pipe of the test section on the onset of air-water CCFL were also examined. An empirical correlation for the onset of CCFL in a horizontal pipe connected to an inclined riser was developed in terms of Wallis flooding parameters for the low inlet water flow rate region. Comparisons of the present empirical correlation with the air-water CCFL data of large pipe diameters show that the present correlation agrees more closely with the experimental data than the existing CCFL correlations.

The Effects of LMX and Feeling Trusted on Job Performance and Workplace Ostracism Among Salespeople

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of leader-member exchange (LMX) on employees' behaviors as well as to test the mediating roles of feeling trusted in the relationships. Research design, data, and methodology - Survey data were collected and analyzed from 285 sales people who work for various organizations in eastern China. The corresponding research models were verified using SPSS 22 and Amos 22. Results - The empirical results show that LMX plays a positive role in job performance and is positively related with subordinate's feelings of trust. However, the study was shown to have negative correlations between LMX and workplace ostracism. Feeling trusted by superiors mediated the relationship between LMX and job performance, resulting in employees being more motivated to do better, creating a positive synergetic effect. However, this relationship did not show to have significant mediating effects on the relationship between LMX and workplace ostracism. Conclusions - This study further enriches the relevant theory of LMX and has significance for management practices such as distribution sectors, guiding leaders to create a suitable team atmosphere. Leaders need to pay attention to build a high quality LMX with employees based on the empirical results of this study.

The Combustion Characteristics at Primary Zone of Lean Premixed low NOx Combustor (저 NOx 희박연소기의 주연소영역에서의 연소특성 연구)

  • The concept of lean-premixed combustion in gas turbine combustor operation has become a standard in recent years as an effective means to meet stringent enviromental standards on NOx emissions. The combustion characteristics of 75 kW class lean premixed combustor were investigated at the conditions of high temperature and ambient pressure. The exit temperature and emissions of CO and NOx were measured at the center of exit plane. The high temperature air of $550K{\sim}650K$ was supplied through air preheater. As expected, experimental results indicate that NOx emission was increased and CO emission was decreased by increasing inlet air temperature. But CO emission measured at the center of exit plane was increased because of the non-uniform radial direction profiles. The Semi-Empirical Correlation method was applied to obtain the design point emissions of NOx and CO. Also the flame temperature, CO and NOx emissions were measured along the centerline of liner at 650K inlet air temperature to determine the position of dilution holes.

A Review on Spray Characteristics of Biobutanol and Its Blended Fuels in IC engines

  • This review will be concentrated on the spray characteristics of biobutanol and its blends fuels in internal combustion engines including compression ignition, spark ignition and gas turbine engines. Butanol can be produced by fermentation from sucrose-containing feedstocks, starchy materials and lignocellulosic biomass. Among four isomers of butanol, n-butanol and iso-butanol has been used in CI and SI engines. This is due to higher octane rating and lower water solubility of both butanol compared with other isomers. The researches on the spray characteristics of neat butanol can be classified into the application to CI and SI engines, particularly GDI engine. Two empirical correlations for the prediction of spray angle for butanol as a function of Reynolds number was newly suggested. However, the applicability for the suggested empirical correlation is not yet proved. The butanol blended fuels used for the investigation of spray characteristics includes butanol-biodiesel blend, butanol-gasoline blend, butano-jet A blend and butanol-other fuel blends. Three blends such as butanol/ethanol, butanol/heptane and butanol/heavy fuel oil blends are included in butanol-other fuel blends. Even though combustion and emission characteristics of butanol/diesel fuel blend in CI engines were broadly investigated, study on spray characteristics of butanol/diesel fuel blend could not be found in the literature. In addition, the more study on the spray characteristics of butanol /gasoline blend is required.

  • Inspiration plays an essential role in architectural design process that compels architects to bring their ideas into final product by engaging in creative thinking. The relation in between architecture and music has been one of combination throughout architectural history used as inspirations for façade's forms and shapes, space configurations and arrangements, and etc. Applying music in architecture produces creative and scientific design methods, provides attractions for visitors, and reflects the social and cultural identities and changes of the particular period. This research aims to analyze the correlations between architecture and music in depth, and examine the perception of musically inspired architecture by empirical study. Five buildings that applied musical rhythms were chosen for survey questionnaires in order to observe how people majoring in architecture, music, and other fields perceive musically inspired architecture differently by matching the music with the building that correlate to each other. By examining the reasons that the respondents have selected such music with a building from the questionnaires, the keywords are extracted and interpreted. The results showed that it is possible for people to perceive music from architecture, and that it is suitable to use music as a source of inspiration in architectural designs.

Estimation of tensile strength of ultramafic rocks using indirect approaches

  • Because the estimation of the tensile strength is very important in any geotechnical project, many attempts have been made to determine. But the immediate determination of the tensile strength is usually difficult owing to well-shaped specimens, time-consuming, expensive and sometimes unreliable. In this study, engineering properties of several ultramafic rock samples were measured to assess the correlations between the Brazilian Tensile Strength (BTS) and degree of serpentinization, physical, dynamic and mechanical characteristics. For this purpose, a comprehensive laboratory testing program was conducted after collecting thirty-two peridotite and fifty-one serpentinite rock samples, taken from central Greece, in accordance with ASTM and ISRM standards. In addition, a representative number of them were subjected to petrographic studies and the obtained results were statistically described and analysed. Simple and multiple regression analyses were used to investigate the relationships between the Brazilian Tensile Strength and the other measured properties. Thus, empirical equations were developed and they showed that all of the properties are well correlated with Brazilian Tensile Strength. The curves with the $45^{\circ}$ line (y = x) were extracted for evaluating the validity degree of concluded empirical equations which approved approximately close relationships between Brazilian Tensile Strength and the measured properties.

An Analysis on the Factors Affectingy Online Search Effect (온라인 정보탐색의 효과변인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the correlations between the amount of the online searcher's search experience and their search effect. In order to achieve this purpose, the 28 online searchers working at the chosen libraries and information centers have participated in the study as subjects. The subjects have been classified into the two types of cognitive style by Group Embedded Figure Test. As the result of the GEFT, two groups have been identified: the 15 Field Independance ( FI ) searchers and the 13 Field Dependance ( FD ) searchers. The subject's search experience consists of the 3 elements: disciplinary, training, and working experience. In order to get the data of these empirical elements, a questionnaire have been sent to the 28 subjects. An online searching request form prepared by a practical user was sent to all subjects, who conducted searches of the oversea databases through Dialog to retrieve what was requested. The resultant outcomes were collected and sent back to the user to evaluate relevance and pertinence of the search effect by the individual. In this study, the search effect has been divide into relevance and pertinence. The relevance has been then subdivided into the 3 elements : the number of the relevant documents, recall ratio, and the cost per a relevant document. The relevance has been subdivided into the 3 elements: the number of the pertinent documents, utility ratio, and the cost per a pertinent document. The correlations between the 3 elements of the subject's experience and the 6 elements of the search effect has been analysed in the FI and in the FD searchers separately. At the standard of the 0.01 significance level, findings and conclusions made in the study are summarised as follows : 1. There are strong correlations between the amount of training and the recall ratio, the number of the pertinent documents, and the utility ratio on the part of FI searchers. 2. There are strong correlations between the amount of working experience and the number of the relevant documents, the recall ratio on the part of FD searchers. However, there is also a significant converse correlation between the amount of working experience and the search cost per a pertinent document on the part of FD searchers. 3. The amount of working experience has stronger correlations with the number of the pertinent documents and the utility ratio on the part of FD searchers than the amount of training. 4. There is a strong correlation between the amount of training and the pertinence on both part of FI and FD searchers.
