Effects of an emotional regulation program on maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation, stress, anxiety, and postpartum depression among South Korean mothers of premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT)-based emotional regulation program for mothers of premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Methods: The study utilized a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Seventeen mothers were recruited for the experimental group and 21 mothers for the control group. Data were collected from July 9, 2018, to Oct 12, 2018 from mothers of premature infants in the NICU regarding parental stress, state anxiety, depression, and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation. The experimental group received eight sessions of the REBT-based emotional regulation program for 3~4 weeks, and the control group only received standard nursing care. Results: Significant differences were found between the two groups in maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation (Z=-3.88, p<.001), stress (Z=-2.76, p=.006), state anxiety (Z=-3.72, p<.001), and postpartum depression(Z=-2.62, p=.009) after the intervention in the experimental group. Conclusion: The REBT-based emotional regulation program for mothers of premature infants was effective for reducing maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation, stress, anxiety, and postpartum depression. Therefore, it may be necessary to provide an REBT-based emotional regulation program for mothers of premature infants in the NICU in clinical practice.

고객무례행동이 감정부조화와 직무스트레스를 매개로 조직일탈, 생활침해, 창의성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (The Effects of Customer Rude Behaviors on Organizational Deviance, Life Violations, and Creativity using Emotional Dissonance and Job Stress as Mediators)

  • 최근 무례한 고객에 의한 비이성적인 행동이 언론으로부터 자주 노출되면서 그 심각성이 사회적으로 이슈가 되고 있다. 서비스업의 경우 직무의 특성상 무례한 행동을 하는 고객과 자주 대면하여야 하며 상호작용하여야 하기에 이로 인한 종사원들의 스트레스는 매우 심각한 수준이다. 고객무례행동으로 인하여 종사원은 불쾌함, 우울함 등 부정적 감정을 느끼고 본인의 직업에 회의를 느껴 조직을 떠나려는 생각도 하게 된다. 이처럼 종사원의 서비스 제공에 직접적인 영향을 미친다는 점을 고려하면 고객무례에 관한 올바른 대처방안이 필요하다고 볼 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 고객무례행동이 종사자의 감정부조화에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 감정부조화가 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향과 직무스트레스가 조직일탈행동, 생활침해행동, 창의성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 또한, 직무스트레스를 보다 긍정적으로 관리할 방안을 마련하기 위하여 감정부조화와 직무스트레스의 관계에서 스트레스관리 교육의 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 자료 수집을 위해서 부산시 소재 종합병원, 중소병원의 고객 접점에서 업무를 수행하고 있는 의료서비스 종사자들을 대상으로 설문 조사를 시행하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 무례행동은 감정부조화에 정(+)의 유의적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 감정부조화는 직무스트레스에 정(+)의 유의적 영향을 미치며 셋째, 직무스트레스는 조직일탈행동과 생활침해행동에 모두 정(+)의 유의적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 직무스트레스는 창의성에 부(-)의 유의적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 감정부조화와 직무스트레스 간의 관계에서 스트레스관리 교육의 조절효과는 나타나지 않았다.

백화점 판매사원의 감정노동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Emotional Labor of Sales Workers at Department Stores)

  • 서비스업의 대부분에서는 감정노동이라고 하는 새로운 형태의 노동을 제공하도록 요구 받는다. 이에 따라 많은 판매사원들은 자신의 감정을 숨긴 채 고객들에게 항상 웃음으로 서비스를 제공하게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 백화점 판매사원의 감정노동에 관하여 실증적 연구를 진행하였다. 감정노동, 직무스트레스, 직무만족의 관계를 기초로 하여 실증분석을 시도하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 감정노동은 직무스트레스에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 감정노동이 증가함에 따라서 직무스트레스가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 감정노동과 직무만족의 관계를 살펴본 결과 유의한 결과를 제시하지 못하였다. 이는 감정노동이 직무만족에 직접적인 영향보다는 간접적인 영향을 제공한다고 볼 수 있을 것이다. 셋째, 직무스트레스와 직무만족 간에 관계를 보면 역할갈등요인이 유의한 결과를 제시하고 있다. 이는 역할갈등이 증가할수록 직무만족이 떨어진다는 것을 의미하는 결과를 나타내고 있다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 감정노동이 판매사원들의 직무스트레스 및 직무만족에 직, 간접적인 영향을 미치므로 이에 대한 관리를 필요로 할 것이다. 이는 서비스를 제공하는 판매사원의 직무만족이 궁극적으로 고객 서비스 품질로 이어질 것이므로 아주 의미하는 바가 크다고 할 수 있다.

백화점 판매사원의 감정노동과 직무스트레스 반응에 관한 연구 (A Study on Response of Job Stress and Emotional Labor of the Sales Workers of Department Store)

  • Purpose: This study purposed on investigating how the emotional labor affects the physical uncomfortable feeling of the workers in the department store. Method: The method of data collection was used of questionnaire for 574 workers of one department store located in Seoul. The period of data collection was done from November 1, 2004 to November 30 for about one month. The working career of the participants was over one month at that department. Result: The degree of emotional labor for participants, men were $3.21{\pm}0.53$ for the total point of 5.0 point, and the degree of the physical uncomfortable feeling was $3.07{\pm}0.48$ for total of 5.0 point. The degree of emotional labor for participants, women were $3.22{\pm}0.42$ for the total point of 5.0 point, and the degree of the physical uncomfortable feeling was $3.13{\pm}0.42$ for total of 5.0 point. In order to analyze the factors that affected the emotional labor and physical uncomfortable feeling, the multi-level reflecting analysis was used. As a result, men were insecurity of job influenced the emotional labor feeling in remarkable degree, women were the responsibility of job influenced the emotional labor. Men were insecurity and responsibility of job influenced physical uncomfortable feeling in remarkable degree, women were responsibility of job and emotional labor influenced the physical uncomfortable feeling in remarkable degree. Conclusion: The results of this study show that various strategies to remove the factors of job insecurity in order to reduce the level of emotional labor of the workers at the department store should be devised. In addition, the special way to minimize the physical insecurity should be contrived and carried out. Since the workers of the department stores had higher emotional labor, the factors of stress need to be analyzed and should be removed.

동남아시아 결혼이주여성 임부의 생활 스트레스, 사회적 지지 및 산전우울과의 관계 (Life Stress, Social Support, and Antepartum Depression among Married Immigrant Women from Southeast Asia)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate life stress, social support, and antepartum depression among Southeast Asian immigrant women married to Korean men. Methods: Ninety-three subjects were recruited from local women's clinics and multicultural family support centers in D City. The instruments used were the life stress scale, social support scale, and K-EPDS. All the instruments were translated into their corresponding mother languages (Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Philippine) and notarized. Results: The item mean scores of life stress and social support were 2.65 and 3.17, respectively, on a 5-point Likert scale. The mean score of antepartum depression was 10.16, indicating that they were generally in a depressive state. A positive correlation was observed between life stress and antepartum depression (r=.59, p<.001). Social support was negatively correlated with life stress (r=-.42, p<.001) and antepartum depression (r=-.39, p<.001). The best predictors for antepartum depression were life stress, marital satisfaction, and emotional support, and they explained 43% of the variance. Conclusion: Antepartum depression in Southeast Asian immigrant brides was significantly associated with life stress as well as lack of emotional support. Emotional support may reduce their life stress and antepartum depression.

유치원교사의 직무스트레스와 정서노동이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Kindergarten Teachers' Job Stress and Emotional Labor on Their Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 유치원교사의 직무스트레스와 정서노동 및 직무만족도의 관계를 살펴보고, 직무스트레스와 정서노동이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향을 고찰하는 것이다. 연구대상은 수도권에 소재한 유치원에 근무 중인 164명의 교사이다. 연구대상의 직무스트레스와 정서노동 및 직무만족도는 설문지를 사용하여 조사했다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0을 활용하여 분석했으며, 기술통계분석과 Pearson 상관관계분석 및 중다회귀분석을 실시했다. 자료분석에서 직무스트레스와 직무만족도는 총점을 사용했으며, 정서노동은 하위요인(자연적행동, 내면적행동, 표면적행동)의 점수를 사용했다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 유치원교사의 직무스트레스와 표면적행동은 직무만족도와 유의한 부적 상관관계를 보였으며, 자연적행동은 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 유치원교사의 직무스트레스와 표면적행동은 직무만족도에 유의한 부적 영향을 미쳤으며, 자연적행동은 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다.

간호대학생의 임상실습 스트레스 영향요인에 관한 경로분석: Lazarus와 Folkman의 스트레스-대처 모델 기반으로 (Factors Affecting Clinical Practicum Stress of Nursing Students: Using the Lazarus and Folkman's Stress-Coping Model)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test a path model for the factors related to undergraduate nursing students' clinical practicum stress, based on Lazarus and Folkman's stress-coping model. Methods: This study utilized a path analysis design. A total of 235 undergraduate nursing students participated in this study. The variables in the hypothetical path model consisted of clinical practicum, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, Nun-chi, and nursing professionalism. We tested the fit of the hypothetical path model using SPSS/WIN 23.0 and AMOS 22.0. Results: The final model fit demonstrated a satisfactory statistical acceptance level: goodness-of-fit-index=.98, adjusted goodness-of-fit-index=.91, comparative fit index=.98, normed fit index=.95, Tucker-Lewis index=.92, and root mean square error of approximation=.06. Self-efficacy (${\beta}=-.22$, p=.003) and Nun-chi behavior (${\beta}=-.17$, p=.024) were reported as significant factors affecting clinical practicum stress, explaining 10.2% of the variance. Nursing professionalism (${\beta}=.20$, p=.006) and self-efficacy (${\beta}=.45$, p<.001) had direct effects on emotional intelligence, explaining 45.9% of the variance. Self-efficacy had indirect effects on Nun-chi understanding (${\beta}=.20$, p<.001) and Nun-chi behavior (${\beta}=.09$, p=.005) through emotional intelligence. Nursing professionalism had indirect effects on Nun-chi understanding (${\beta}=.09$, p=.005) and Nun-chi behavior (${\beta}=.09$, p=.005) through emotional intelligence. The variables for self-efficacy and nursing professionalism explained 29.1% of the Nun-chi understanding and 18.2% of the Nun-chi behavior, respectively. Conclusion: In undergraduate nursing education, it is important to identify and manage factors that affect clinical practicum stress. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of Nun-chi, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, and nursing professionalism in the development of an educational strategy for undergraduate nursing students.

간호대학생의 임상실습중 언어폭력경험과 임상실습 스트레스와의 관계연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Experience of Verbal Abuse and Clinical Practice Stress during Clinical Practicum of Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 임상실습중 경험하는 언어폭력, 감정반응, 간호전문직관, 임상실습 스트레스 정도를 파악하고 임상실습 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 확인하기 위하여 시도되었다. 연구 대상은 4년제 간호대학 4학년에 재학중인 간호대학생 106명이였으며 측정 도구는 언어폭력, 감정반응, 간호전문직관, 임상실습스트레스에 관한 문항으로 구성되었다. 언어폭력, 감정반응, 간호전문직관, 임상실습스트레스 정도는 기술통계로 분석하였고 언어폭력, 감정반응, 간호전문직관, 임상실습스트레스간의 상관관계는 Pearson correlation coefficients, 임상실습스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인은 다중 선형 회귀분석(Multiple linear regression)을 적용하였다. 임상실습스트레스는 언어폭력, 감정반응과 유의한 정적상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다(r=.683, r=.573). 유의미한 영향요인으로 언어폭력(𝛽=.487), 감정반응(𝛽=.240)순으로 임상실습스트레스의 49%를 설명하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 간호대학생들이 임상실습중 언어폭력에 대처하고 임상실습스트레스를 관리하기 위한 전략개발에 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.

대학생의 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향: 회적 지지의 조절효과를 중심으로 (Impact of Stress on Depression among University Students: Testing for Moderating Effect of Social Support)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify impact of stress on depression among university students and the moderating effect of social support in the relationship between stress and depression in university students. Methods: A total of 445 subjects were participated from May to July 2011. Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires and t-test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 20.0 were used to analyze the data. Results: The results indicate that depression was increased by stress and decreased with social support. Social support included four type of social support behavior; emotional support, informational support, material support, and appraisal support. Multiple regression analysis showed that moderating effect of emotional support was significant when provided by friends but not by parents. Conclusion: These finding indicate the importance of emotional support of friends on depression in university students.

내적모형과 대응자원을 이용한 만성관절염 환자의 적극적 대응전략모형 (Active Coping Strategy Model for Chronic Arthritis : Appling Internal Model of World and Coping Resource)

  • Typical symptoms of rheumatic disease affect overall daily living and cause severe stress. Individuals afflicted with rheumatic disease have many illness-related stresses. Pain was the predominantly perceived stress followed by limitation in mobility, difficulties in carrying out activities of daily living. helplessness, dependency on others, threat to self-esteem, interference in social activity, interference in family relationships. difficulties performing at work, and discomfort of the treatment. Patients with chronic arthritis are subjected to long periods of continuous stress, which may require the management by the health care provider. In these cases, the purpose of the nursing is helping to promote health through supporting patient's coping. Therefore, for the nursing intervention to be effective, it is critical to build a theoretical framework that describes stress-coping for chronic arthritis. Thus, the purpose of this dissertation is to present a theoretical framework which describes the stress-coping processes and to empirically test pathos of this framework for the people with chronic arthritis. The foundation upon which this framework is built in the Erickson, Tomlin, and Swain(1983) theory of Modeling and role-Modeling. The subjects were 275 patients with rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis who visited the outpatient clinic. A hypothetical model of stress-coping was tested by covariance structure analysis with PC-LISREL 8.12 program. As a result, the overall fit was good(Chi-square=94.49, P=0.00, RMR=0.067, GFI=0.95, AGFI=0.91, NNFI=0.93, NFI=0.91) for the hypothetical model. The results of hypothesis testing were as follows : Basic need satisfaction had a statistically significant influence on illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resources. Internal health locus of control had a statistically significant influence on coping resources. However, independent variables(basic need satisfaction, internal health locus of control, illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resource) did not have significantly influence on coping. And then, the hypothetical model was modified by considering both the theoretical implication and statistical significance of the parameter estimates. The revised model had a better fit to the data(Chi-square=83.11(P=0.00), RMR=0.061, GFI=0.96, AGFI=0.92, NNFI=0.95, NFI=0.92). Hypothesis emerged from the revised model was tested. The results of hypothesis testing were as follows : Basic need satisfaction had a statistically significant influence on illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resources. Internal health locus of control had a statistically significant influence on illness-related experience and coping resources. Internal health locus of control, illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resources had a significantly influence on coping. According to the results of this dissertation, basic need satisfaction and internal health locus of control play a central role in appraisal of illness-related experience and coping resources. And illness related-experience, emotional stress, and coping resources affect on coping activities. In summary, nursing interventions to enhance basic need satisfaction and internal health locus of control will decrease illness related experience and emotional stress and increase coping resources. Increased coping resources will prompt coping activities.
