This paper proposes the concept of “Artificial Emotion”(AE). The goal of AE is simulation, extension and expansion of natural emotion, especially human emotion. The object of AE is machine emotion and emotion machine. The contents of AE are emotion recognition, emotion measurement, emotion understanding emotion representation emotion generation, emotion processing, emotion control and emotion communication. The methodology, technology, scientific significance and application value of artificial emotion are discussed

Objectives : In order to understand and apply Lee Jema's emotion control method, the basic concepts of his nature-temperament theory was examined. Lee's thoughts on emotion control, and the basic principles of his method were deduced from this process. Methods : The meaning and set-up of basic concepts in his nature-temperament theory as written in text such as the Donguisusebowon, Gyeokchigo, and Donguisusebowon Sasang Chobongwon were examined, and compared with similar concepts of Confucianism. Results & Conclusions : Out of concepts set by Lee, the Ae(哀)-No(怒)-Hui(喜)-Rak(樂) nature-temperament is the condition for emotion control. Junghwa(中和) is the aim of emotion control according to different stages of emotional expression, and Jiin(知人) is the precondition for emotion control. Lee's basic principles of emotion control could be summarized as following. First, it must be done with the aim for 'Goodness[善]' to be manifested. Second, it must be based on clear understanding of 'Insa(人事)'. Lastly, Hoyeonjigi(浩然之氣) and Hoyeonjiri(浩然之理) must be consistently cultivated for stable emotion control.

We, Human beings, use both powers of reason and emotion simultaneously, which surely help us to obtain flexible adaptability against the dynamic environment. We assert that this principle can be applied into the general system. That is, it would be possible to improve the adaptability by covering a digital oriented information processing system with analog oriented emotion layer. In this paper, we proposed a vertical slicing model with an emotion layer in it. And we showed that the emotion-based control allows us to improve the adaptability of a system at least under some conditions.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between preschooler's sex, effortful control, working memory, and emotion regulation. The moderating effect of sex in the influences of effortful control and working memory on emotion regulation was also investigated. Eighty-eight children from the ages of 3 to 5 years participated in this study. A working memory task of the Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children IV(K-WISC-IV; Kwak, Oh, & Kim, 2011) was administered to the children. Their parents completed a very short form of the Children's Behavior Questionnaire(Putnam & Rothbart, 2006) and Emotion Regulation Checklist(Shields & Cicchetti, 1997). The results indicated that effortful control significantly predicted emotion regulation. Additionally the moderating effect of sex on the relationship between working memory and emotion regulation was significant. Specifically, the influence of working memory on emotion regulation was significant only in boys, but not in girls. This result suggested that effortful control has an effect on emotion regulation in a stable manner whereas working memory has different effects on the influence of emotion regulation according to sex.

The purpose of this study examined the moderating effect of maternal emotion-related socialization behaviors on the relations between preschooler's effortful control and prosocial behavior. In this study, subjects were 153 preschoolers and their mothers. The major results were as follows; there was a moderating effect of maternal emotion-related socialization behaviors on the relationship between preschooler's effortful control and prosocial behavior. Specifically, maternal negative emotion expression and response to the preschooler's positive emotion moderated the effect preschooler's effortful control on prosocial behavior. In conclusion, the impact of effortful control on preschooler's prosocial behavior were significant. Also, maternal emotion-related socialization behaviors(i.e., negative emotion expression and response to the child's positive emotion) affected on preschooler's prosocial behavior. The findings of the study will contribute to help maternal emotional interaction with their preschool aged children.

The interaction of emotion is an important factor in Human-Robot Interaction(HRI). This requires a contextual appraisal of emotion extracting the emotional information according to the events happened from past to present. In this paper an emotion appraisal system based on the cognitive context is presented. Firstly, a conventional emotion appraisal model is simplified to model a contextual emotion appraisal which defines the types of emotion appraisal, the target of the emotion induced from analyzing emotional verbs, and the transition of emotions in the context. We employ a language based cognitive system and its sentential memory and object descriptor to define the type and target of emotion and to evaluate the emotion varying with the process of time with the a priori emotional evaluation of targets. In a experimentation, we simulate the proposed emotion appraisal system with a scenario and show the feasibility of the system to HRI.

The aims of this study were to investigate the relationships among mothers' emotion expression, preschool children's temperament, and preschool children's emotion regulation. The participants in this study were 75 5-year-old children from five child-care centers located in Seoul. The collected data were analyzed using simple regression and hierarchical multiple regression. The major findings were as follows. First, mothers' positive emotion expression had a positive influence on children's effortful control, and mothers' negative emotion expression had a positive influence on children's negative affect. Second, mothers' positive emotion expression had a positive influence on children's emotion regulation, while mothers' negative emotion expression had a negative influence on children's emotion regulation. Last, the effect of mothers' positive emotion expression on children's emotion regulation was fully mediated by children's effortful control. Also, the effect of mothers' negative emotion expression on children's emotion regulation was partially mediated by children's negative affect. These results suggest that mothers' emotion expression and children's temperament may predict children's emotion regulation.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of experience emotion (i.e., happy, proud, sad, fear) on the risk perception. This study also examined interaction effects of emotion regulation (i.e., reappraisal strategy, problem focused strategy) between experience emotion and risk perception. The study collected data from 168 flight crew members in Korean commercial airlines, using an online research in which an experiment of emotion manipulation and a survey were included. The results of the study found the positive effect of happiness emotion on the risk perception regarding cases 1(these cases have high possibility of negative result and low circumstance control) and the positive effect of sadness emotion on the risk perception regarding cases 2(these cases have low possibility of negative result and high circumstance control). This study also found the interaction effect of reappraisal emotion regulation strategy between the relationship of happiness and risk perception regarding cases 2. From these results, the study provided that theoretical and practical implication that happiness and sadness emotion contribute risk perception and reappraisal strategy has a moderating role in the relationship between happy emotion and risk perception. Finally, based on these results, the limitations of this study and future research were discussed.

본 논문에서는 기존에 연구되었던 Thayer의 인간의 감성 모델을 바탕으로 음악을 듣고 느끼는 감성을 8가지 감성으로 정의한 음악 감성모델로 제시하였다. 감성에 영향을 주는 음악의 요소는 음악의 템포, 역동성, 진폭변화, 밝기, 잡음 등 5가지로 선택하였다. 8가지 감성으로 이루어진 감성 모델에 따라서 8가지 감성으로 분류된 160곡의 노래를 선곡하여 실제 데이터를 추출하여 분석하였다. 실제 데이터의 분석을 통해 5가지 요소의 가중치로 이루어진 감성 수식을 도출하였고 임의의 음악에 대하여 감성 수식을 통해서 2차원 감성 좌표계에 매핑 하여 감성을 예측할 수 있도록 알고리즘을 설계하였다. 또한 2차원 감성 좌표계에서의 좌표 값을 이동시켜 감성을 제어할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다.
