In ubiquitous environment where various kinds of computers are embedded in persons, objects and environment and they are interconnected and can be used in my place as necessary, different types of data need to be exchanged between heterogeneous machines through home network. In the environment, the efficient processing, transmission and monitoring of image data are essential technologies. We need to make research not only on traditional image processing such as spatial and visual resolution, color expression and methods of measuring image quality but also on transmission rate on home network that has a limited bandwidth. The present study proposes a new motion vector estimation algorithm for transmitting, processing and controlling image data, which is the core part of contents in home network situation and, using algorithm, implements a real time monitoring system of multi dimensional images transmitted from multiple cameras. Image data of stereo cameras to be transmitted in different environment in angle, distance, etc. are preprocessed through reduction, magnification, shift or correction, and compressed and sent using the proposed metamorphosis hierarchical motion vector estimation algorithm for the correction of motion. The proposed algorithm adopts advantages and complements disadvantages of existing motion vector estimation algorithms such as whole range search, three stage search and hierarchical search, and estimates efficiently the motion of images with high variation of brightness using an atypical small size macro block. The proposed metamorphosis hierarchical motion vector estimation algorithm and implemented image systems can be utilized in various ways in ubiquitous environment.

In this paper, a new stereo object tracking system using the disparity motion vector is proposed. In the proposed method, the time-sequential disparity motion vector can be estimated from the disparity vectors which are extracted from the sequence of the stereo input image pair and then using these disparity motion vectors, the area where the target object is located and its location coordinate are detected from the input stereo image. Being based on this location data of the target object, the pan/tilt embedded in the stereo camera system can be controlled and as a result, stereo tracking of the target object can be possible. From some experiments with the 2 frames of the stereo image pairs having 256$\times$256 pixels, it is shown that the proposed stereo tracking system can adaptively track the target object with a low error ratio of about 3.05$\%$ on average between the detected and actual location coordinates of the target object.

An Aerial video summarization is not only the key to effective browsing video within a limited time, but also an embedded cue to efficiently congregative situation awareness acquired by unmanned aerial vehicle. Different with previous works, we utilize sensor operation mode of unmanned aerial vehicle, which is global, local, and focused surveillance mode in order for accurately summarizing the aerial video considering flight and surveillance/reconnaissance environments. In focused mode, we propose the moving-react tracking method which utilizes the partitioning motion vector and spatiotemporal saliency map to detect and track the interest moving object continuously. In our simulation result, the key frames are correctly detected for aerial video summarization according to the sensor operation mode of aerial vehicle and finally, we verify the efficiency of video summarization using the proposed mothed.

We propose an efficient video watermarking scheme using re-estimation and minimum modification technique of motion vectors. Conventional methods based on motion vectors do watermarking using modification of motion vectors. However, change of motion vectors results in the degradation of video quality. Thus, our scheme minimizes the modification of the original motion vectors and replaces an original motion vector by the adjacent optimal motion vector using re-estimation of motion vectors to avoid degradation of video quality. Besides, our scheme guarantees the amount of embedded watermark data using the adaptive threshold considering for an efficient video watermarking. In addition, this is compatible with current video compression standards without changing the bitstream. Experimental result shows that the proposed scheme obtains better video quality than other previous algorithms by about $0.6{\sim}1.3\;dB$.

This study develops modeling processes for alignment optimization considering characteristics of intersections using genetic algorithms and GIS for road alignment optimization. Since existing highway alignment optimization models have neglected the characteristics of intersections, they have shown serious weaknesses for real applications. In this paper, intersection costs include earthwork, right-of-way, pavement, accident, delay and fuel consumption costs that are sensitive and dominating to alignments. Also, local optimization of intersections for saving good alignment alternatives is developed and embedded. A highway alignment is described by parametric representation in space and vector manipulation is used to find the coordinates of intersections and other interesting points. The developed intersection cost estimation model is sufficiently precise for estimating intersection costs and eventually enhancing the performance of highway alignment optimization models. Also, local optimization of intersections can be used for improving search flexibility, thus allowing more effective intersections. It also provides a basis for extending the alignment optimization from single highways to networks. The presented two artificial examples show that the total intersection costs are substantial and sensitive to highway alignments.
This paper proposes a new data-driven method for high-pass approaches, which suppresses slow-varying noise components. Conventional high-pass approaches are based on the idea of decorrelating the feature vector sequence, and are trying for adaptability to various conditions. The proposed method is based on temporal local decorrelation using the information-maximization theory for each utterance. This is performed on an utterance-by-utterance basis, which provides an adaptive channel normalization filter for each condition. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by isolated-word recognition experiments with channel distortion. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields outstanding improvement for channel-distorted speech recognition.
This paper presents 3D graphics geometry processor for mobile applications. Geometry stage needs to cope with the large amount of computation. Geometry stage consists of transformation process and lighting process. To deal with computation in geometry stage, the vector processor that is based on pipeline chaining is proposed. The performance of proposed 3D graphics geometry processor is up to 4.3M vertex/sec at 100 MHz. Also, the designed processor is compliant with OpenGL ES that is widely used for standard API of embedded system. The proposed structure can be efficiently used in 3D graphics accelerator for mobile applications.

The need for developing effective coding techniques for various multimedia services is increasing in order to meet the demand for image data. In this paper, a zeroblock coding algorithm is proposed for progressive transmission of images. The zeroblock coding algorithm is constructed as an embedded coding so that the encoding and decoding process can be terminated at any point and allowing reasonable image quality. Some features of zeroblock coding algorithm are 1) coding of subband images by prediction of the insignificance of blocks across subband leels, 2) aset of sate transition rules for representing the significance map of blocks, and 3) block coding by vector quantization using a multiband codebook consisting of several subcodebooks dedicated for each subband at a given threshold.

A novel implantable CPW fed Apollian shaped antenna embedded into human tissue is proposed for ISM band biomedical applications. The proposed antenna is made compatible for implantation by embedding it in an alumina ceramic substrate(εr=9.8 and thickness= 0.65 mm). The proposed antenna covers the ISM band of 2.45 GHz. The radiation parameters such as return loss, xy-plane, xz-plane, and yz-plane etc., are measured and analyzed using the agilent vector network analyzer. The proposed antenna has substantial advantages, including low profile, miniaturization ability, lower return loss, better impedance matching, and high gain over conventional implanted antennas.
This paper discusses how to automatically extract fuzzy rules from given data. The fuzzy space which contain given data are fitst subdivided into a set of hypercubes.each of which contains the homogeneous data belonging to the same class, and then a fuzzy rule is defined based on the constructed hypercube. In order to dynamically agjust the size of a hypercube. the fuzzy space is to be splitted based on a center vector and then the splitted subspaces are to be merged throungh the adjacency relation. The membership functions.which are to be embedded in a fuzzy rule.are to be formed through analyzing the cummulative histogram of given data along each axis of the constructed hypercube.
