An Experimental Analysis of Linux TCP Variants for Video Streaming in LTE-based Mobile DaaS Environments (LTE 기반 모바일 DaaS 환경에서 비디오 스트리밍을 위한 Linux TCP 구현물의 실험적 성능 분석)

  • Recent network environment has been rapidly evolved to cloud computing environment based on the development of the Internet technologies. Furthermore there is an increasing demand on mobile cloud computing due to explosive growth of smart devices and wide deployment of LTE-based cellular networks. Thus mobile Desktop-as-a-Service(DaaS) could be a pervasive service for nomadic users. In addition, video streaming traffic is currently more than two-thirds of mobile traffic and ever increasing. All such trends enable that video streaming in mobile DaaS could be an important concern for mobile cloud computing. It should be noted that the performance of the Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) on cloud host servers greatly affects Quality of Service(QoS) of video streams for mobile users. With widely deployed Linux server platforms for cloud computing, in this paper, we conduct an experimental analysis of the twelve Linux TCP variants in mobile DaaS environments. The results of our experiments show that the TCP Illinois outperforms the other TCP variants in terms of wide range of packet loss rate and propagation delay over LTE-based wireless links between cloud servers and mobile devices, even though TCP CUBIC is usually used in default in the current Linux systems.

  • 내장 실시간 시스템은 고 신뢰성 및 고 가용성이 요구된다. 이를 위해서 반드시 필요한 요소들은 결함을 감지 할 수 있는 온라인 모니터링과 감지된 결함에 대한 결함허용(Fault Tolerance) 기법으로 온라인 모니터링에 관련된 연구로는 dRTO 모델[1]의 RMO(Region Monitoring Object)[2]가 있다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 온라인 모니터링 프레임워크를 내장 시스템에서 널리 사용되는 운영교제인 리눅스에 제공하기 위하여 리눅스상에서 동작하는 RMO 프레임워크를 적용한 LinuxRMO를 설계하고 구현한다. LinuxRMO 가 감시하는 대상은 dRTO모델에서 정의된 RMO의 감시대상인 RTO(Realtime Object)[3] [4]가 아닌 리눅스 프로세스들이다. LinuxRMO는 리눅스 프로세스의 변수 데이터들에 대한 실시간 추적, 프로세스들에 대한 주기적인 감시 및 사용자가 정의한 허용시간을 초과한 프로세스들을 감지하는 역할을 한다.

  • FASTECH 사(社)의 Ezi-Servo Plus-E 제품군은 Windows 기반의 모션 라이브러리와 GUI 프로그램을 이용하여 모션 컨트롤을 수행한다. 이를 Linux기반의 GUI 프로그램과 모션 라이브러리를 작성하여 Raspberry Pi 환경에 적용하였다. Windows와 Linux 기반의 두 프로그램으로 각각 모터를 구동시키고 모터의 위치값을 비교하여 150 미만의 작은 차이를 확인하였다. 이 연구를 통해 Linux 임베디드 시스템으로 모션 컨트롤 시스템을 구축하려는 잠재 고객의 수요를 맞출 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • RTiK-Linux is a method to provide real-time performance to Linux, it is controlled by directly accessing hardware registers to implement time tick interrupts. It implemented on x86 Intel and ARM based Exynoss 5422, but it had a disadvantage that it could not be ported to both fragmented other platform environments. In this paper, We change structure of time tick interrupt for improve po rtability so that it can operate on other platforms. We apply high-resolution timers that are independent of hardware, and modify operating structure to task and event to satisfy time determinism. It was confirmed that the improved RTiK-Linux works well in x86 and various ARM AP environments.

  • Up to row, researchers have observed experiment environment to study about raising procedure and an ecology of the ocean fishes with naked eye. Then they can monitor status information in only laboratory such as temperatures, image of the fish farm, etc. Such the existing way as this can't observe an ecology of the ocean fishes with scientific and systematic method and moreover it needs many of researchers. So in this paper, we design and implement a fish farm monitoring system which receives status of remote experiment environment through the internet whenever you want it and wherever you want it, and monitors and analyzes its status using embedded system of which the operating system is linux.

  • This paper designs and implements a software prober to support a more effective power analysis for Linux-based embedded systems by using power consumption data measured in hardware. The proposed software prober, which is included in a target system as a module, collects power data and provides a service to discover major power consumers in user functions of applications or kernel functions through time synchronization between the power data measured in hardware and software. In addition, we verified usefulness of the implemented software prober by running user applications on target systems.

  • In recent years, non-volatile memory express (NVMe), a new host controller interface standard, has been adapted to overcome performance bottlenecks caused by the acceleration of solid state drives (SSD). Recently, performance breakthrough cases over AHCI based SATA SSDs by adapting NVMe based PCI Express (PCIe) SSD to servers and PCs have been reported. Furthermore, replacing legacy eMMC-flash storage with NVMe based storage is also considered for next generation of mobile devices such as smartphones. The Linux kernel includes drivers for NVMe support, and as the kernel version increases, the implementation of the NVMe driver code has changed. However, mobile devices are often equipped with older versions of Android operating systems (OSes), where the newest features of NVMe drivers are not available. Therefore, different features of different NVMe driver implementations are not well evaluated on Android OSes. In this paper, we analyze the response time of the NVMe driver for various Linux kernel version.

  • This paper describes the implementations of the application service based on embedded Linux; Personal Audio Recorder (PAR) which uses WiBro network for data communications and CDMA network for voice communications. At PAR, when PAR client starts voice recording on a dual-mode terminal, the CDMA voice data of caller and callee is transmitted to storage server located in the Internet through WiBro network. Then, PAR server stores voice data on storage server according to the call number and call time. In case of shortage of storage space on terminal, PAR makes user to store voice data. And, PAR can search a catalog of stored data on server and play the specific content.

We can control the control unit with the sensor to be established in the building, An embedded web sever to use the resource of the at least is appering a networking facility of interaction. In this paper, The web sever to be implemented in a purity software. We draw data for the thing to implement overall demo to the remote through Internet and We put the point even though we organized the frame to control this. we have successfully ported linux on an embedded system, which is based on intel StrongARM SA-1110 processor, then written several network modules of ethernet-based network device.
