강제치환 상부 성토제체의 안정성에 관한 연구 (Stability of embankment above Compulsory Replacement layer)

  • When soft ground improvement is proceeded in costal area using compulsory replacement method, it is very important that the method of stability of embankment above replacement layer can be obtained if non-replaced soft layer is remained, and there are a lot of influence factors which affect the stability of embankment, such as replacement depth, the water content of dredged soil and the width of replacement layer, etc. If soft layer was replaced completely by good quality materials, there would be no problems about stability of embankment, but practically non-replaced layer would be remained as the strength of soft layer will be increased. So another consideration is required to get the stability of embankment. In this study, stability of embankment among these factors was compared, and from that results, the better way that could obtain the stability was presented.

모형실험에 의한 토공구조물의 침투거동특성 (The Characteristics for Seepage Behaviour of Soil Structure by Modeling Tests)

  • In parallel flow condition, to estimate the stability of the extended embankment constructed on a permeable foundation ground, a laboratory model test was performed due to extended materials and water level increasing velocity of a flood period. A laboratory model test was peformed for different permeability coefficients ($K_1=2.0{\times}10^{-5}cm/sec,\;K_2=1.5{\times}10^{-4}cm/sec,\;K_3=2.3{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$) using seepage. The fluctuation of water level occurring to an extended embankment was analyzed by laboratory model tests as vary the increasing velocity of water level with 0.6cm/min, 1.2cm/min, 2.4cm/min respectively. In analysis results, the increase of water level into embankment occurs rapidly because seepage water moving along with a permeable soil flow into embankment. The larger the permeability coefficient of an extended part is the longer initial seepage distance, and the exit point of downstream slope is gradually increased and then shows unstable seepage behavior as occurring partial collapse. As the increasing velocity of water level increase, the initial seepage line is formed low, and the discharge increases. Therefore, the embankment extended by a lower permeable soil than existing embankment shows stable seepage behavior because an existing embankment plays a role as filter for an extended part.

한계평형법에 의한 연약지반 보강성토의 안정해석 (Stability Analysis of the Reinforced Embankment on Soft Foundations using the Limit Equilibrium Method)

  • The use of geotextile as reinforced materials in Soil structures has become widespread throughout the world. Geotextile reinforcement has been used in retaining walls, slope of embankment and especially soft foundation, etc. In the past, however, its design and construction have been performed empirically. In this study, to investigate of the effect of geotextiles reinforced slope of the embankment on a very soft foundation, a limit equilibrium analysis program calculating the safety factor of embankment on very soft foundation was developed. The study was focussed on such factors as type of geotextile, tensile strength, amount of reinforcement, and inclination of embankment. And the 4imit equilibrium analysis program was written on the basis of Low's slope stability theory with some modification. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. (1) The orientation of reinforcement can be assumed either horizontal or tangential to the slip circle. The factor of safety with tangential reinforcement is larger than that with the horizontal reinforcement. (2) In general, the factor of safety increases, as the slope reduces. However, it is preferable to use geotextiles with higher tensile strength rather than to reduce the slope of the embankment, because it is difficult to adjust the slope as desired. (3) The factor of safety obtained by numerical computation is affected only by the tensile strength, but not by the type of the geotextile.

Rainfall induced instability of mechanically stabilized earth embankments

  • A 10.4-m high highway embankment retained behind mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls is under construction in the northeastern part of the Indian state of Bihar. The structure is constructed with compacted, micaceous, grey, silty sand, reinforced with polyester (PET) geogrids, and faced with reinforced cement concrete fascia panels. The connections between the fascia panels and the geogrids failed on several occasions during the monsoon seasons of 2007 and 2008 following episodes of heavy rainfall, when the embankment was still under construction. However, during these incidents the MSE embankment itself remained by and large stable and the collateral damages were minimal. The observational data during these incidents presented an opportunity to develop and calibrate a simple procedure for estimating rainfall induced pore water pressure development within MSE embankments constructed with backfill materials that do not allow unimpeded seepage. A simple analytical finite element model was developed for the purpose. The modeling results were found to agree with the observational and meteorological records from the site. These results also indicated that the threshold rainwater infiltration flux needed for the development of pore water pressure within an MSE embankment is a monotonically increasing function of the hydraulic conductivity of backfill. Specifically for the MSE embankment upon which this study is based, the analytical results indicated that the instabilities could have been avoided by having in place a chimney drain immediately behind the fascia panels.

  • Database are developed to control measured settlement data under construction in Gyungbu High Speed Railway from Daegu to Busan. This means that data having different type at different site could be managed in a unified way. The database includes algorithm to evaluate embankment settlement with settlement data at the surface of embankment and ground settlement data. And also, it has a function to analyse the causes of large settlement over allowable level and high settlement speed based on the log data, embankment specification, physical characteristics of embankment materials.

호안제체에서 Non-Darcy 흐름해석 (Analysis of Non-Darcy Flour in Tide Embankment)

  • Li 등(1998)이 제안한 호안제체를 통과하는 non-Darcy 흐름에 대한 i- V관계식의 해석결과는 실측자료와의 비교결과 잘 맞는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이식의 사용은 현장에 적용성이 있는 것으로 평가되었고, 적용에 따른 변수인 공극율의 정확한 값의 입력이 요구된다. 관수로흐름과 Taylor의 평균수리수심에 기초한 사석에 적용되는 non-Darcy 특성의 흐름은 블록 및 케이슨 호안에도 적용 가능한 것으로 평가된다. 호안제체를 통과하는 흐름에 대한 정확한 계산은 호안의 최종체절 개방구간에서의 정확한 유속의 산정은 물론 축조 후의 호안 내의 수위의 변화를 예측할 수 있다.

수치해석을 통한 성토 높이에 따른 터널 안정성 평가 연구 (Assessment of tunnel stability according to height of embankment by numerical analysis)

  • 터널의 갱구부는 토피가 얕고 지반의 아칭효과가 발휘되기 어렵기 때문에 터널 시공 시 주의가 필요한 구간이다. 공용 중인 터널 갱구부 상부에 추가적인 성토가 이루어진다면 터널 안정성을 크게 저해할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 터널 상부의 추가 성토에 따른 터널 안정성을 검토하고자 지반조건별로 성토 높이에 따른 수치해석을 수행하였다. 해석 결과 5등급 암반에서 성토 높이가 12 m 이상인 경우에는 숏크리트의 허용 휨압축응력, 록볼트의 허용 축력을 초과하는 것으로 나타났다. 발생되는 변위와 소성영역의 범위, 지보재의 상태를 종합적으로 고려할 때 터널 갱구부 상부에 추가 성토되는 높이가 10 m를 초과하는 경우에는 터널 안정성이 크게 저해되는 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 기준공시체를 이용한 측정시험을 통해 도출된 RI교정계수가 모든 노상토재료에는 적합치 않다는 판단아래 모든 종류의 성토재료에 사용이 가능하고 신뢰성있는 RI측정이 가능하도록 조립토함유율을 변화시켜 가면서 기준공시체 제작과 이에 대한 측정실험을 통해 RI 측정값의 보정방법을 제안하므로써 모든 종류의 성토재료에 RI측정이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 일반적인 다짐관리지표로 사용되는 건조밀도 외에 다짐도와 공기함유율 및 포화도와의 상관성을 각각 분석하여 이것들이 다짐관리지표로 사용될 수 있는지에 대한 적용성을 검토하였다.

  • Recently, the high speed railway comes into the spotlight as the important and convenient traffic infrastructure. In Korea, Kyung-Bu high speed train service began in about 400km section at 2004, and the Ho-Nam high speed railway will be constructed by 2017. The high speed train will run with a design maximum speed of 300-350km/hr. Since the trains are operated at high speed, the differential settlement of subgrade under the rail is able to cause a fatal disaster. Therefore, the differential settlement of the embankment must be controlled with the greatest care. Furthermore, the characteristics and causes of settlements which occurred under construction and post-construction should be investigated. A considerable number of studies have been conducted on the settlement of the natural ground over the past several decades. But little attention has been given to the compression settlement of the embankment. The long-term settlement of compacted fills embankments is greatly influenced by the post-construction wetting. This is called 'hydro collapse' or 'wetting collapse'. This wetting collapse problem for the compressibility of compacted sands, gravels and rockfills, has been recognized by several researchers. For this wetting settlement problem, we showed the test results carried out with 4 fill materials. These tests were performed under the condition that the fill materials were inundated at the first wetting. Subsequently, in this study, we investigated the long-term settlement characteristics of the fill materials under the repeated partial wetting and rising of the ground water table happend by rainfall.

저회(Bottom Ash)와 폐타이어를 활용한 성토구조물 거동에 관한 연구 (Behaviour of Embankment using Bottom Ash-Tire Shred Mixture)

  • 기존의 연구에서 이미 경량성토재료로서 적용된 바 있는 저회(Bottom Ash), 폐타이어-흙 혼합토의 성능을 토대로 하여, 전통적인 성토재료인 흙 대신 저회를 활용하는 새로운 경량성토재료를 제안한 바 있다. 이어서 이 연구에서는 저회-폐타이어 혼합토의 경량성토재료로서의 적용성을 평가하기 위해 현장다짐시험과 실대형 성토 모형실험을 수행하여 기존의 성토재료인 풍화토만으로 조성된 성토구조물과 저회-폐타이어 혼합토로 조성한 성토구조물에 대한 침하, 토압, 지지력, 진동저감효과 등을 평가하였다. 그 결과 토압 및 진동은 저감되는 효과를 보였으며, 정동적 하중에 따른 침하거동은 두 재료(풍화토 단면, 저회-폐타이어 혼합재료)에서 유사하게 평가되었다.
