Purpose: The study aimed to investigate elementary and secondary school teacher's knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and explore which factors affect their intention to perform CPR. Methods: A descriptive correlational study design was utilized. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaire from 147 teachers. Statistical analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, t-test, 𝑥2 test, F-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and logistic regression with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The average of knowledge, attitude and self-efficacy on CPR was 11.11±1.88 out of 15, 42.81±5.22 out of 55, and 86.19±17.74 out of 120 in order. CPR performance intention had significantly positive correlations with knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy on CPR. In logistic regression, factors significantly affecting intention to perform CPR were the total number of training sessions on CPR (OR=12.15, 95% CI: 2.83~52.20), attitude on CPR (OR=9.26, 95% CI: 1.61~53.34), and self-efficacy on CPR (OR=1.72, 95% CI: 1.04~2.84), which accounted for 42.7% of the variance. Conclusion: In order to increase the intention to perform CPR among teachers in elementary and secondary schools, it is necessary for an educational program to be developed to improve positive attitudes and self-efficacy on CPR.

This study examined teacher's perceptions of the psychosocial adjustment and problem behaviors of institutionalized children compared with home reared children. Data were collected from the teachers of institutionalized children in elementary and secondary schools. The majority of institutionalized children were regarded as not very much different from home reared children. Still, findings from this study lead to conclusions that institutionalization is likely to elevate children's risk for adjustment problems such as social withdrawal, peer violence, and academic failure. Findings that the ratio of institutionalized children attending school decreased with age lead to speculation that failure in psychosocial adjustment may lead to to dropping out of school. Finally, a practical framework for the optimal development of institutionalized children is provided, with emphasis on school-community based interventions.

In this study, we investigated teachers' experiences in teaching with the science museum as well as their confidence, their perceptions, educational needs, and their willingness to practice the instructions using science museum. A survey was administered to 225 elementary and secondary school teachers. The analyses of the results revealed that few teachers had training for the instructions using the science museum and not many teachers had experience in teaching with the science museum. Many teachers were also found to have low confidence in teaching with the science museum. Although the teachers had a relatively good understanding of the educational effects, nature and teaching strategies for the instructions using the science museum, they tended to apply the formal views on science teaching/learning to learning with the science museum. The levels of willingness to use the science museum in their instructions and educational needs of the instructions using the science museum were high. They wanted the information about practical aspects to use in the instructions using science museum most. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

This study investigated mathematics teachers' views on education, teacher efficacy, and the relationship of teacher efficacy and Confucian Heritage Culture's views on education. In particular, the differences on the basis of teachers' teaching experience and academic level were examined. We identified teachers' views on education by investigating their views on the purpose of education and examining whether they support the perspectives of teaching and learning in Confucian Heritage Culture. The questionnaire was answered by a total of 572 elementary teachers and secondary mathematics teachers. The results of this survey revealed that mathematics teachers have both Confucian Heritage Culture's view and Western view on education and quiet strong teacher efficacy. The views on education differed by academic levels, but there were no differences in teaching experiences. The teacher efficacy was differed by both academic levels and teaching experiences. The correlation between teacher efficacy and Confucian Heritage Culture's view on education was low. Findings were discussed with regard to their implications for both Korean mathematics education and mathematics teachers' teaching practice.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate prevalence and ecological characteristics of excessive television viewing among elementary school students in Seoul. Methods: Secondary data, representative sample of 11,082 subjects in Seoul was used. After prevalence of the excessive television viewing was identified by using factor analysis, 6 main factors explaining the ecological indicators was founded. After identifying prevalence of the excessive television viewing, by using factor analysis, we found 6 main factors explaining the ecological indicators. After categorizing factors into socio-psychological and lifestyle characteristics, we were investigated the odds ratio of excessive television viewing per characteristics by using multiple logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of excessive television viewing was 29.7% among the elementary school student in Seoul. The prevalence were higher in male, higher grade, and non-South of the Han River. Socio-psychological indicators which expressed excessive television viewing were annoying or bullying, scolding from teacher, depressed mode, thought for a runaway from home, an experience of diet, and negative body image. Life style indicators were a lower intake of fruit and vegetables, a higher intake of Ramyun and soft drink, a worse life style of hand washing, and wearing safety equipment. Conclusion: Lifestyle of television viewing was the comprehensive results from family, school, and society rather than a personal preference. Therefore, it is necessary to educate the hazard of excessive television viewing, to reenforce the students' health competence, to activate a safe leisure program as an alternate of television viewing, and to develop a recommendation.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing mental health among late elementary age children. Methods: The research design was a secondary data analysis. Data were collected from 746 students in grades 5 or 6, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS/PC 18.0 program. Results: The average score of mental health was $3.42{\pm}0.55$. There were significant differences in mental health according to health status, economic status, scholastic performance, relationships with friends, relationships with the teachers, atmosphere of the home, number of siblings and the source of trouble. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed influencing factors of stress, negative reaction under stress, self-esteem, teacher support, and friend support support and explained 41.4% of total variance in late elementary age children's mental health. Conclusion: These results may contribute to a better understanding of mental health in late elementary age children. The results of the present study indicate a need to develop nursing interventions to prevent and manage elementary school-age children's negative reaction under stress.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the actual conditions of primary school science teaching and ways to improve it. In elementary science teaching, teachers themselves tend to have science misconceptions and insufficient science content knowledge. Experienced teachers argued that it could be hard for elementary teachers with lack of science content knowledge to provide their students with meaningful learning experiences of science. Based on the general characteristics of elementary teaching and the awareness of elementary teachers' insufficient science content knowledge, we explored the real situation of the elementary science classroom. We conducted open-ended interviews with teachers and focus group discussions on a regular basis to analyze and compare classes of five primary school teachers. Data analysis focused on why elementary students avoid science classes in upper grades of elementary school and why elementary science classes always need hands-on activities. We also discussed ways to turn hands-on investigation into minds-on investigation by connecting it to important ideas in science. Based on the results, we suggested ways to improve inservice teacher training such as designing supplementary in-service training focused on content knowledge for primary school teachers, setting up professional exchange or collaboration between primary and secondary teachers, and introducing subject-specialized teachers for the fifth and sixth graders of primary school. In particular, considering elementary teachers' insufficient science content knowledge, employing science subject matter specialists in the elementary school could be a useful strategy.
