  • Recently, electronic-book (e-book) market is growing rapidly due to the evolution of information technology and e-book standard EPUB. Users can search e-book on-line and download easily to their e-book readers such as amazon's kindle or smartphones. On the other hand, there is lack of e-book contents for the reading disabled people because of high cost of making e-book accessibility for the reading disabled people. If we can translate EPUB specified e-book contents to the alternative e-book contents suitable for the reading disabled people, then there are many advantages to acquire various types and large volumes of e-book contents for the reading disabled people. This paper suggests a new electronic publishing ecosystem for the reading disabled people using e-book translation method. It also suggests a promotion strategy of e-book market for the reading disabled people.

  • With the success of Kindle, an electronic book reader developed by Amazon.com, there has been a growing interest in both electronic books and readers in Korea. In this paper, we analyze electronic book user needs through fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and conjoint analysis. First, we select the important factors which can affect the intention to purchase electronic book readers by applying the fuzzy AHP with the help of electronic book experts. Next, we perform conjoint analysis to reveal the detailed needs of electronic book users for each of the selected factors. Some useful implications and research limitations are also presented with future research directions.

  • Electronic Book(eBook) is a publication that stored and processed the contents of a book using digital mechanisms and has advantages such as easiness in saving and searching and the possibility of carrying. To activate Electronic Book which has the advantages mentioned above, studies on related techniques are required and a development of an editor exclusive for eBooks which is appropriate for eBook structure is still not adequate. In this paper, we design and implement Electronic Book editor providing form-based interface for eBook genre-based structure so that it would be easier for users to write. Especially because Electronic Book has genre-based structure due to the characteristic of literature, it is necessary to provide forms for each different genres. Therefore, compared to the problem of having to study XML grammar when writing Electronic Book using the existing XML editor, the proposed system can solve this problem by providing form-based interface. Additionally, with regard to the characteristic of eBook which have structures according to the intention of users, we provided the flexibility of adding dynamic forms to the form provided in default so that it will be more effective in writing Electronic Books. Therefore by providing form-based interface according to the genre and dynamic structure according to the intention of users, Electronic Book can be wrote more easily.

E-book has been attracting people's attention in earnest since the Steven King's novel, 'Riding the Bullet' was published as a form of E-book in 2000. Since then, customers have paid attention to E-book, and the scale of E-book market has been growing sharply in Europe, China, Japan and Korea as well as the US. The purpose of this study is for actual analysis how Paper-book and E-book market compete with each other and expand into the world publication market. The relationship between Paper-book and E-book is modeled by the Lotka-Volterra Model designed for competitive relationships and estimate spreading curves. Also, competition patterns between Paper-book and E-book are analyzed by estimating coefficient of curve expression. This study shows the change of customers' demand which has been created since E-book was introduced to the publication market.

EBKS is now established as KS X6100 representing the Korea standard of electronic book of Korea. Therefore, Conformance test and certification procedure is required whether electronic books and documents which follow KS X 6100 are conform to specification of the standard. In the paper, we define conformance clause which is a basis for conformance test and standard electronic book schema. As a result, electronic book writers can produce more conformable documents to the specification and goal of electronic book standard by using the conformance clause, and service provider can effectively perform the conformance test by using standard electronic book schema.

  • In this paper, we propose user-centric immersible and interactive electronic book based on the interface of tabletop display. Electronic book is usually used for users that want to read the text book with multimedia contents like video, audio, animation and etc. It is based on tabletop display platform then the conventional input device like keyboard and mouse is not essentially needed. Users can interact with the contents based on the gestures defined for the interface of tabletop display using hand finger touches then it gives superior and effective interface for users to use the electronic book interestingly. This interface supports multiple users then it gives more diverse effects on the conventional electronic contents just made for one user. In this paper our method gives new way for the conventional electronics book and it can define the user-centric gestures and help users to interact with the book easily. We expect our method can be utilized for many edutainment contents.
