FEM을 이용한 Electromagnetic Clutch 토크해석과 전기자 치수최적화 (Study on Torque Analysis and Armature Shape Optimization of Electromagnetic Clutch by Using FEM)

  • This study tries to test and analyze the static friction torque generated by an electromagnetic clutch. Then the torque is improved by optimizing the shape of armature. For the purpose of design change and optimization of the electromagnetic clutch, the static friction torque prediction is very important. We construct an axi symmetric FEM model for analyzing the static friction torque and used a torque tester for evaluating the real torque. For a test, predicted static friction torque is compared with the experimental one to discuss the rationality of torque analysis process. The analytical result agrees well with experimental data, explaining the validity of the mathematical process and FEM model. After confirming the torque analysis process, the optimization process is investigated. The optimization result shows that the static torque is improved by changing the armature shape.

  • 본 논문에서는 유한요소법을 활용하여 소형전자기클러치(micro-electromagnetic clutch)에서 발생하는 마찰토크와 응답시간을 해석하였다. 소형전자기클러치의 설계변경과 최적화를 위하여 전자석클러치에서 자기장에 의하여 발생하는 전달토크와 응답시간을 정확하게 예측 할 것이 요구된다. 해석을 위하여 전자기장 이론을 기반으로 소형전자기클러치의 축대칭 모델을 구성하고 실제 재료 물성치를 대입하여 토크와 응답시간을 해석하고 유한요소 해석결과의 정확성을 검증하기 위하여 실험결과와 비교하였다. 토크와 응답시간의 해석결과는 실험데이터와 거의 일치하다는 것을 통하여 해석적 방법으로 토크와 응답시간을 예측할 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있다.

Brushless DC Motor Electromagnetic Torque Estimation with Single-Phase Current Sensing

  • The purpose of this paper was to find an effective method for measuring electromagnetic torque produced by a brushless DC motor with single-phase current sensing in real-time. A torque equation is derived from the theory of brushless DC motor. This equation is then validated experimentally with a motor dynamometer. A computer algorithm is also proposed to implement the electromagnetic torque estimation equation in real-time. Electromagnetic torque is a linear function of phase current. Estimating the electromagnetic torque in real-time using single-phase current is not appropriate with existing equations, however, because of the rectangular alternating-pulse nature of the excitation current. With some mathematical manipulation to the existing equations, the equation derived in this paper overcame this limitation. The equation developed is simple and so it is computationally efficient, and it takes only motor torque constant and single-phase current to evaluate the electromagnetic torque; no other parameters such as winding resistances, inductances are needed. The equation derived is limited to the three-phase brushless DC motor. It can, however, easily be extended to the multiphase brushless DC motor with the technique described in this paper.

  • In this paper, we try to analyze the torque of electromagnetic clutch by using FEM. For Analysis of the magnetostatic field, we constitute axi-symmetric FEM model of an electromagnetic clutch. By resorting to the theory of magnetic circuits, we obtain a solution of theoretical torque to compare with the result of numerical analysis. From the result of numerical analysis, the air gap of electromagnetic clutch between armature and rotor is important to influence on the torque and the torque changes with the air gap of 0.2mm∼0.1mm Also we observe the characteristic of the torque by changing the relative permeability of each parts. Finally an optimized design of the electromagnetic clutch is proposed.

Design of a Rotary Electromagnetic Actuator with Linear Torque Output for Fast Steering Mirror

  • This paper focuses on the design of a flux-biased rotary electromagnetic actuator with compact structure for fast steering mirror (FSM). The actuator has high force density and its torque output shows linear dependence on both excitation current and rotation angle. Benefiting from a new electromagnetic topology, no additional axial force is generated and an armature with small moment of inertia is achieved. To improve modeling accuracy, the actuator is modeled with flux leakage taken into account. In order to achieve an FSM with good performance, a design methodology is presented. The methodology aims to achieve a balance between torque output, torque density and required coil magnetomotive force. By using the design methodology, the actuator which will be used to drive our FSM is achieved. The finite element simulation results validate the design results, along with the concept design, magnetic analysis and torque output model.

  • 본 논문은 분해능이 향상된 인덕티브 방식 토크 센서의 새로운 구조를 제안한다. 토크 센서의 결합 구조와 수신 코일의 감김 수를 변화시켜 분해능을 증가시켰다. 이 토크 센서는 비접촉식으로 마모가 없기 때문에 내구성이 높으며, 진동이나 기구의 비틀림 등에 의한 편차가 적고, EMC(Electromagnetic Compatibility) 및 온도 특성이 우수하다.

Influence of Frequency on Electromagnetic Field of Super High-Speed Permanent Magnet Generator

  • When compared with traditional power frequency generators, the frequency of a super high-speed permanent magnet generator (SHSPMG) is a lot higher. In order to study the influence of frequency on the electromagnetic field of SHSPMGs, a 60000rpm, 117kW SHSPMG was taken as a research object. The two-dimensional finite element model of the generator was established, and the two-dimensional transient field of the generator was simulated. In addition, a test platform of the generator was set up and tested. The reliability of the simulation was verified by comparing the experiment data with that of the simulation. Then the generator electromagnetic field under different frequencies was studied, and the influence mechanism of frequency on the generator electromagnetic field was revealed. The generator loss, voltage regulation rate, torque and torque ripple were analyzed under the rated active power load and different frequencies. The influences of frequency on the eddy current density, loss, voltage regulation rate and torque ripple of the generator were obtained. These conclusions can provide some reference for the design and optimization of SHSPMGs.

Harmonic Winding Factors and MMF Analysis for Five-phase Fractional-slot Concentrated Winding PMSM

  • To enhance torque density by harmonic current injection, optimal slot/pole combinations for five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) with fractional-slot concentrated windings (FSCW) are chosen. The synchronous and the third harmonic winding factors are calculated for a series of slot/pole combinations. Two five-phase PMSM, with general FSCW (GFSCW) and modular stator FSCW (MFSCW), are analyzed and compared in detail, including the stator structures, star of slots diagrams, and MMF harmonic analysis based on the winding function theory. The analytical results are verified by finite element method, the torque characteristics and phase back-EMF are also taken into considerations. Results show that the MFSCW PMSM can produce higher average torque, while characterized by more MMF harmonic contents and larger ripple torque.

보조 동력 장치 연료 공급용 서보밸브의 토크모터 전자기 해석 (Electromagnetic Analysis on the Torque Motor of Servo Valve for the Fuel Supply System of Auxiliary Power Unit)

  • As a main part of an utility helicopter, the APU(Auxiliary Power Unit) has a solenoid valve system operated with a torque motor, which controls the flow rate in the fuel supply system. In this paper, we solved the Maxwell potential equations to analyze the electromagnetic force in the torque motor, and some additional analytic methods are used to compute the quantity of torque produced by the torque motor for the given circuit current. For the convenience, small displacement is assumed, and only magneto-static problem is considered for the two-dimensional cross section. The result will be compared with the three-dimensional analysis that will be studied in the near future.
