The Analysis of Liquid Metal Flow Characteristics in the Annular Passage of an Electromagnetic Pump

  • An electromagnetic pump using a tubular induction motor (TLIM) has been proposed to pump liquid metal fluids. TLIM has been designed for liquid metal flow systems with a motor with a thrust force of 40~77[N]. The flow characteristics have been investigated by solving the Navier-Stokes equation, where the Lorentz force was included simply by considering it as a constant in the Navier-Stokes equation. A wood metal was chosen to simulate the liquid metal. The effect of Lorentz force on the flow rate was investigated. An experiment was conducted and its results were compared with those of the simulation. The simulation result showed an overestimation of about 17% compared with the experimental one.

  • This paper describes the characteristics of the complex isotropic ferrite-rubber composite for a super wideband electromagnetic absorber in RP-A-PF type, which can be used for an anechoic chamber, wall material to prevent TV ghost, etc. The $Ni_x-A_{0.1}-ZN_{(1-x0.1)}$. $Fe{_2}O_4$ ferrite powder has been fabricated. Using this, then, [$Ni_x-A_{0.1}-ZN_{(1-x0.1)}$. $Fe{_2}O_4$]-Rubber composite for RF-layer in the RF-A-PF type absorber has been fabricated and it's characteristics has been analyzed. As a result, it has been shown that the [$Ni_x-A_{0.1}-ZN_{(1-x0.1)}$. $Fe{_2}O_4$].Rubber composite has excellent electromagnetic wave absorbing properties.

  • This paper describes the fabrication and characteristics of a low frequency vibration driven electromagnetic energy harvester. The fabricated generator consists of a permanent magnet of NdFeB, a FR-4 planar spring and a Copper cylinder type coil. ANSYS modal analysis was used to determine the resonant frequency for the generator. The implemented generator is capable of producing up to 550 mV peak-to-peak under 7 Hz frequency, which has a maximum power of $95.5\;{\mu}W$ with load resistance of $580\;{\Omega}$. This device is shown to generate sufficient power at different resonating modes, and the experimental and simulated results are discussed and composed.

  • This paper describes the fabrication and characteristics of vibration-driven electromagnetic energy harvester without spring to use at low frequency like a human body motion. The implemented energy harvester consists of NdFeB magnets, copper coil. The optimization of induced voltage was done by the various widths of coil, number of the turns, size of fixed and moving magnets and thicknesses of the cylinder. The fabricated energy harvester is capable of producing up to 15.0 $V_{pp}$ for basic model and 28.80 $V_{pp}$ for improved model at 5.0 Hz resonance frequency and 0.75 g acceleration level. The basic model and improved model are provided a maximum power of 6.375 mWand 25.831 mW at 1 KHz of load resistance in rectifier circuit.

  • This paper presents the MHD characteristics of the liquid metal flow using an electromagnetic force. The flow velocity has been calculated by treating the Lorentz force as a source term in the Navier-Stokes equation. The liquid metal flow in duct using an electromagnetic pump was analyzed with the Lorentz force varied.

Electromagnetic and Vibration Analysis of E-core Switched Reluctance Motor with Permanent Magnets and Auxiliary Windings

  • In this work a new configuration of E-core stator Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) with permanent magnets and auxiliary windings embedded in the stator yoke is proposed. For the proposed configuration of SRM electromagnetic analysis is performed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based computer aided design package MagNet and to emphasize its merits a comparison is drawn with existing hybrid excitation configuration of SRM. In addition, the vibration characteristics of the motor are analyzed by performing modal and transient analysis using the ANSYS package. Results of the analysis reveals that the proposed configuration of SRM exhibits better electromagnetic and vibration characteristics and is capable of competing with the existing topologies in the variable speed market.

  • 본 논문에서는 임의의 대형구조의 전자기 특성을 효율적으로 해석하기 위해 대표적인 전자기 수치해석 기법의 하나인 모멘트법 기반 직접풀이법 중 CBFM의 원거리 상호작용 계산의 가속화 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 대형구조의 전자기 특성해석을 위해서는 계산시간의 단축이 필수적이며, CBFM 해석법에서 원거리 블록 간의 상호작용을 다중극전개방법을 사용한 근사화를 통해 복잡도를 크게 감소시킨 수식을 도출하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 새로운 알고리즘을 도체구와 전투기의 레이다 단면적 계산에 적용하여 기존의 CBFM과 비교하여 정확도 손실 없이 계산시간이 각각 34 %, 74 % 단축되어 대형구조 문제해석에 효율적이라는 것을 확인하였다.

  • This paper has been studied for a comparison of the propagation and noise characteristics between ultrasonic and electromagnetic wave for the high speed communication of the short range telemetry. We analyze the propagation depth of electromagnetic and ultrasonic wave by skin depth effect and by ultrasonic loss ratio. We also studied several effects such as near field effect in electromagnetic wave and Rayleigh scattering noise of ultrasonic wave, etc. We show the experimental results of their propagation loss and modulation experiments in water. The experimental results show that both method is good for the implementation of short range telemetry.

  • This study is to develop electromagnetic-catalyst application plasma reactors for indoor air purification. Nitrogen Oxide(NOx) removal characteristics are measured in the electromagnetic catalyst application plasma reactors with various parameters and the effect of catalyst or/and magnetic field are investigated on the NOx removal. And AC or DC high voltage is applied for corona discharge, flow rates are 150~1500 $\ell/min$ and NO initial concentration is about 10 ppm. $Mn0_2$ and $TiO_2$ catalysts to increase NOx removal rate are used. In the results, NOx removal rate by AC power is about 10 % higher than that by DC power under the experimental condition of 700 $\ell/min$, 5 magnets, $MnO_2$ and $Ti)_2$ catalysts. When magnet is applied to the reactor, NOx removal rate increased. Also, the reactor with $MnO_2$ and $Ti)_2$ catalyst and magnet have the best removal rate.

  • 본 논문은 분해능이 향상된 인덕티브 방식 토크 센서의 새로운 구조를 제안한다. 토크 센서의 결합 구조와 수신 코일의 감김 수를 변화시켜 분해능을 증가시켰다. 이 토크 센서는 비접촉식으로 마모가 없기 때문에 내구성이 높으며, 진동이나 기구의 비틀림 등에 의한 편차가 적고, EMC(Electromagnetic Compatibility) 및 온도 특성이 우수하다.
