In this research, we have developed a manufacturing process for seawater salt by horizontal spray drying technique using the deep ocean water and seaweed(sea tangle). Deep ocean water, strong acidic electrolyzed water and strong alkaline electrolyzed water were used as extraction solvent of seaweed. Sodium content in seaweed extract solution by strong alkaline electrolyzed water was 1.63(mg/g), which was 3.5 times lower than of seaweed extract by strong acidic electrolyzed water. Major mineral content(Na, K, Ca) in seawater salt by deep ocean water were higher than strong acidic electrolyzed water and strong alkaline electrolyzed water. On the contrary, Mg contents in seawater salt by deep ocean water were lower than strong acidic electrolyzed water and strong alkaline electrolyzed water. Based on the results of seawater salt production using seaweed, it is possible to make law-salt efficiently.
Strong alkaline electrolyzed water which is produced in cathode by electrolyzing the solution where electrolytes (NaCl, $K_2CO_3$ etc.) are added in diaphragm electrolytic cell, is eco-friendly and has cleaning effects. So, it is viewed as a substitution of chemical cleaner. In addition, strong alkaline electrolyzed water is being used by some Japanese automobile and precision parts manufacturing industries. When strong alkaline electrolyzed water is produced by using diaphragm electrolytic cell, it is necessarily produced at the anode side. Since strong acidic electrolyzed water produced is discarded when its utilization cannot be found, production efficiency of electrolyzed water is consequently decreased. Also, there is a weakness electrolytic efficiency is decreasing due to the pollution of diaphragm. In order to overcome this, non-diaphragm all-in-one electrolytic cell integrated with electrode reaction chamber and dilution chamber was applied. Strong alkaline electrolyzed water was produced for different composition of electrolytes, and their properties and characteristics were identified. In comparing the properties between strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in diaphragm electrolytic cell and that produced in all-in-one electrolytic cell, the differences in ORP and chlorine concentration were found. In emulsification test to confirm surface-active capability, similar results were obtained and strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in non-diaphragm all-in-one electrolytic cell was identified to be useable as a cleaner like strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in diaphragm electrolytic cell. Strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in non-diaphragm all-in-one electrolytic cell is thought to have sterilizing power because it has active chlorine which is different from strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in diaphragm electrolytic cell.

Electrolyzed reduced water was known as an alkaline solvent than piped water, natural water and mineral water etc. By means of reduction property, electrolyzed reduced water could dissolve a solute than other kinds of water without chemicals. In this study, serpentine dissolution in electrolyzed reduced water was investigated as a novel pre-treatment of serpentine which was a minerals for carbon dioxide sequestration. The elements (Ca, Si, Mg etc.) of serpentine were dissolved rapidly at early in the dissolvation then after some minutes the solubilities of serpentine elements showed stable state without abrupt changes. In spite of serpentine elements dissolution, chemical bondings and crystallographic structure of serpentine were not changed. It was explained that the dissolution mechanism of serpentine occurred from surface in electrolyzed reduced water and bulk structure sustained without collapse.
An electrolyzed-acidic water treatment was investigated as a methods for removing ammonia, which is a cause of odor in life environment. The prepared electrolyzed-acidic water was found out as stable solvent capable of neutralizing weak alkaline ammonia by measuring changes in pH and ORP. It was found out that ammonia was removed from the mixture solution of electrolyzed-acidic water and ammonia water by the UV-vis absorbance analysis and electrochemical open-circuit potential measurement. The neutralized ammonia by electrolyzed-acidic water and effectively removed odor was measured using ammonia gas detecter. Consequently, we recommend the electrolyzed-acidic water can effectively and safely remove ammonia in eco-friendly.

As the semiconductor devices are miniaturized, the number of the unit cleaning processes increases. In order to processes by conventional RCA cleaning process, the consumption of volume of liquid chemical and DI water became huge. Therefore, the problem of environmental issues are evolved by the increased consumption of chemicals. To resolve this matter, an advanced cleaning process by Electrolyzed Water was studied in this work. The electrolyzed water was made by an electrolysis equipment which was composed of three chambers of anode, cathode, and middle chambers. In the case of electrolyzed water with electrolytes in the middle chamber, oxidatively acidic water of anode and reductively alkaline water of cathode were obtained. The oxidation/reduction potentials and pH of anode water and cathode water were measured to be +l000mV and 4.8, and -530mV and 6.3, respectively. The Si-wafers contaminated with metallic impurities were cleaning with the electrolyzed water. To analysis the amounts of metallic impurities on Si-water surfaces, ICP-MS(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass spectrometer) was introduced. From results of ICP-MS measurements, it was concluded that the ability of electrolyzed water was equivalent to that of the conventional RCA cleaning.

This study investigated changes in quality characteristics of wrap- and vacuum-packaged peeled lotus roots treated with strong acidic electrolyzed acid water (SAEW pH 2.58, ORP 1,128 mV, HClO 105.0 ppm) or low alkaline electrolyzed water (LAEW pH 8.56, ORP 660 mV, HClO 73.8 ppm) as immersion liquids prior to packaging and storage at 5C. Immersion of peeled lotus roots in SAEW and LAEW reduced initial microbial load by about 1 log compared to treatment with tap water (TW). Hardness differences on storage were observed. However, reduction in PPO activity by electrolyzed water was not reproducible. Changes in Hunter's color value and the color difference value ($\Delta$) of peeled lotus roots immersed in 0.5% (w/v) sodium metabisulfite (SMS) and electrolyzed water were smaller than those of roots treated with TW prior to storage. Sensory characteristics measured during storage were best-preserved in lotus roots previously immersed in 0.5% (w/v) SMS or electrolyzed water, compared to TW. Immersionin electrolyzed water and vacuum packaging preserves the quality of peeled lotus roots in terms of microbial, visual, and sensory aspects, at levels comparable to those offered by storage after treatment with 0.5% (w/v) SMS.
This study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of strong acidic electrolyzed acid water (SAEW; Strong acidic electrolyzed water, pH 2.76, ORP 1,128 mV, HClO 105.0 ppm) and low alkaline electrolyzed water (LAEW; Low alkaline electrolyzed water, pH 8.56, ORP 660 mV, HClO 73.8 ppm) as storing liquid for peeled lotus root. During storage at $5^{\circ}C$, it was showed that SAEW and LAEW inhibit growth of microorganisms until at least 5 days of storage. Total phenolic contents, polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity, and color differences value $({\Delta}E)$ of peeled lotus roots stored in SAEW and LAEW were lower than that of one stored in TW (tap water). The hardness decrement of lotus roots stored in SAEW and LAEW were lower than that of lotus root stored in TW too. Contents of moisture crude protein crude fat, crude ash, crude fiber, and total sugars were gradually decreased during storage. Whereas vitamin C content of lotus root stored in 0.6% acetic acid was most rapidly decreased to 25% as compared with one of initial days of storage that of lotus roots stored in SAEW and LAEW was not decreased significantly as compared with one stored in TW. Sensory characteristic during storage was preferable on lotus root stored in SAEW to the other treatments.

Antioxidation effect of reduced electrolyzed water, which has been known as antiaging agent has been investigated with very simple method. Antioxidation effect of the reaction of linoleic acid with oxygen has been measured and analyzed. Alkaline reduced electrolyzed waters are better effect, rather acidic oxidized electrolyzed waters accelerates oxidation reaction.
This study was conducted to determine the inactivation effect of electrolyzed water and organic acids either alone or in combination on L. monocytogenes or natural microflora on lettuce. Acidic electrolyzed water completely inactivated L. monocytogenes in broth system within 60 sec, but alkalin electrolyzed water caused approximate 1.7 log CFU/g reduction. However, acidic electrolyzed water reduced only 2.5 log CFU/g of L. monocytogenes on lettuce, and similar antimicrobial effect was observed with alkalin electrolyzed water. In the meantime, acidic and alkaline electrolyzed water caused approximately 2 log CFU/g reduction compared to control, whereas both electrolyzed water combined with $1\%$ organic acids ranged from 2.6 to 3.7 log CFU/g reduction. Among the organic acids, both electrolyzed water combined with $1\%$ citric acid showed the strongest synergistic antimicrobial effect to reduce L. monocytogenes on lettuce as well as total counts, yeast and molds. When antimicrobials, alone or in combination were treated into L. monocytogenes inoculated lettuce at $5^{\circ}C\;and\;15^{\circ}C$ for designed periods, the combined alkalin electrolyzed water with $1\%$ citric acid showed the greatest potential to inhibit growth of the bacteria. According to Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), the treatment of electrolyzed alkali water in combination with $1\%$ citric acid highly reduced the growth of the L. monocytogenes compared to single treatment and resulted in causing the destruction of cell membrane.
Microalgae hold promise as a renewable energy source for the production of biofuel, as they can convert light energy into chemical energy through photosynthesis. However, cost-efficient harvest of microalgae remains a major challenge to commercial-scale algal biofuel production. We first investigated the potential of electrolytic water as a flocculant for harvesting Tetraselmis sp. Alkaline electrolyzed water (AEW) is produced at the cathode through water electrolysis. It contains mineral ions such as $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$ that can act as flocculants. The flocculation activity with AEW was evaluated via culture density, AEW concentration, medium pH, settling time, and ionic strength analyses. The flocculation efficiency was 88.7% at 20% AEW (pH 8, 10 min) with a biomass concentration of 2 g/l. The initial biomass concentration and medium pH had significant influences on the flocculation activity of AEW. A viability test of flocculated microalgal cells was conducted using Evans blue stain, and the cells appeared intact. Furthermore, the growth rate of Tetraselmis sp. in recycled flocculation medium was similar to the growth rate in fresh F/2 medium. Our results suggested that AEW flocculation could be a very useful and affordable methodology for fresh biomass harvesting with environmentally friendly easy operation in part of the algal biofuel production process.
